- aroedl, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1The patch is not from 'drhopfen', it is a more or less 'official' patch that exists since a pretty long time (several years). HowFlow.com was founded by some of the best Gentoo (another source-based Linux distribution) developers, btw.
- ToadLeg, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1That sounds great; something that's been an obvious solution for a long time but there has been no way to do it. Maybe Ubuntu could set up the boot loader to be able to do this. A broken Windows machine may then work just fine under Ubuntu.
(I'll wait until this comes from somewhere official like ubuntu.com, and not just patch my kernel with something from "drhopfen" at "howflow.com") - aroedl, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Well, the solution itself might be a little nerdy, but with a little practice, everyone can do it. It's totally worth the effort, especially when you have some broken memory modules laying around.
- prompel, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Well, another reason to switch to Linux, I guess. Too bad it's a "Nerds Only" solution.
