- Appleboi4evr, on 07/31/2008, -1/+9I'm going to bury this as inaccurate, it works perfectly for me with totem in ubuntu. (Atleast for the trailers section)
and i'm pretty sure everyone already knows apple favors quicktime. - Technohamster, on 07/31/2008, -0/+7Works fine for me on openSUSE.
Tell me more, the mplayer plugin should handle it. - Kingoftherings, on 07/31/2008, -1/+8Quicktime blows.
- ArthurSucks, on 07/31/2008, -0/+6Why would you want to run Quicktime when programs like Totem works perfectly?
- wildfire, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4How much are you offering them for?
- jenhsun, on 07/31/2008, -0/+3I think he forgot to install quicktime codec. That's it.
My totem gstreamer works just fine in Ubuntu. - Appleboi4evr, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2i understand but the issue isn't apple blocking linux though. it's something wrong with pclinuxos (no offence).
if you downloaded all the codecs and plugins frankly i'm not sure why that would happen. but apple isn't blocking anyone.
hope you find a fix for it. - wonderchemist, on 07/31/2008, -1/+3BREAKING: Computer user doesn't know how to playback Apple QuickTime files, blames Apple.
- evilgourmet, on 07/31/2008, -1/+2Buried for inaccuracy.
Many companies are trying to and some are succeeding in blocking Linux from using functionality of their sites, Apple is not.
I was able to view trailers very quickly, with FF plugin mplayer. - TomWickline, on 07/31/2008, -1/+2You can run QuickTime on Linux with Wine.....
QuickTime 7.1.6 on Linux with Wine :

iTunes 7.3 on Linux with Wine :
http://www.wine-reviews.net/applications/itunes-73 ... - TomWickline, on 07/31/2008, -1/+1Because I can :) QuickTime works very good in Wine, you should give it a try sometime.
- CarzorStelatis, on 07/31/2008, -1/+1So you tried to access Quicktime streams without a Quicktime codec installed? That's not Apple's fault, PBKAC. Buried as inaccurate.
- dkdevine, on 07/31/2008, -1/+1jenhsun, w32 codecs are installed, this is pclinuxos 2007 installation that's been working flawlessly on apple.com/trailers since it was released.
If you guys think I'm full of it, check the js files that are running (specifically the useragent checker). It doesn't check for just the useragent...it also checks to see if quicktime is installed.
This may work for some...but I'm running KDE 3.5.9 in PCLinuxOS and it changed from working quite nicely to NOT working.
Appleboi4evr,
It may be inaccurate on your system...but on mine, it's not working. I'm not the only one either...there are at least 5 others in the pclinuxos forums reporting this as well. - dkdevine, on 07/31/2008, -0/+0Wanted to update you on others having problems with this: http://www.pclinuxos.com/index.php?option=com_smf& ...
- thoraageeldby, on 09/01/2008, -0/+0Try a newer movie like for example wall-e
- dkdevine, on 07/31/2008, -1/+0THIS JUST IN: Digg comment attempts to show perceived ignorance of blog but ends up looking moronic through use of clichéd BREAKING label.
- michaelpinto, on 07/31/2008, -11/+1Flame bait: But if you're a desktop Linux user you're too cheap to buy a movie ticket anyway!
