- nickdot, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Nice, there is a python packaging session!
- sirhomer, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Packaging 101 is a good session to attend if you want to learn how to build your own Debian packages.
- TheWindBlows, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1why use an irc wont it be like a spam fest?
- digitallysick, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1How about a unified packing system across all distros. Right now, any windows user can download an .exe and probably run it. But with .deb .rpm etc would be nice if they kept those, but also made a unified package system
- ashcrow, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2See http://www.packagekit.org/pk-intro.html. To be honest though .exe's really are not packages ... they are more like downloading and running static binaries (in most cases)
- aldenhg, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2While it's by no means a perfect implementation, you can use RPMs on a Debian based system with alien.
- troydoogle7, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Would love to see small business server so I can throw out my windows box. Seems like they have been trying since 2005 and have yet to get something going.... (cliche alert!) Is 2008 the year for the small business server for ubuntu?
Seems like there are 8 variations, all of which are no longer being updated... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SmallBusinessServer
To gain market share, you need to go after windows on the server. Then the desktops will follow....
