- midtown, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Weiz, this is the first time you could add Ubuntu to any configuration of a given model. Previously you had to go to a completely different section of the website, and then you were stuck with a different configuration, and couldn't benefit from the same "Instant Savings" that the Windows configs had.
Now you can replace Windows with Ubuntu on any Dell Mini config and save $40. That IS news! - fatas, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1well it sucks you can't choose Ubuntu in Australia
- midtown, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2I think $40 is a reasonable discount; I really doubt they are even paying that much per XP license, not to mention they have to pay for the Fluendo codecs for Ubuntu.
- weizbox, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1A small step i guess... I would hope the discount would be a lil more than $40 tho :/
reply button? ;) - weizbox, on 10/01/2008, -2/+3Dell has been pushing out hardware with pre-installed Ubuntu for a while now. This isn't much news :)
- TheSilentNumber, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Why the hell do they call it "Mini OS powered by Ubuntu"? I sure hope they are saying that it's the OS for the Dell Mini and not that Ubuntu is a "miny" OS. Either way, it's confusing and misleading.
