- ItsSnakeOil, on 02/12/2008, -2/+14Microsoftology like many cults, preys on peoples' need to be part of a group. They use standard cult tactics like smothering new members with attention and building up of dependence upon the group. Bait and Switch is used to increase income from services as there is always another course which needs to be done, or some "urgent" problem in the member's system or infrastructure which needs to be "handled". If all else fails, the victim is yelled shortcomings blamed on PBKC. The auditing process provides the member with the desired "fix" of attention, and the identification of non-Microsoftology programs and data formats. ;) One's a "church" the other is a "business".
- spauldingsmails, on 02/12/2008, -0/+8Even if OOXML is adopted by the ISO I still don't think it would be endorsed by governmental organizations as there is still no full implementation of the standard. In fact even Microsoft's Office 2007 suite does not support ISO 29500 natively but rather stores documents in an incompatible Microsoft-specific XML format.

- Phocion55, on 02/12/2008, -2/+4Sadly, the decision makers don't really care about the technicalities of a "standard"....they only see "Microsoft" and blindly select their format on that criteria alone.
Perfect example: If the world actually based their technology decisions on sound standards that would carry us for years to come, Internet Explorer wouldn't exist in 2008, web developers would get hours of time back, and MS wouldn't be fumbling with "oh crap how the hell do we implement IE8". - Phocion55, on 02/12/2008, -2/+3But its members will be a few thousand $$$$ richer, so they probably could care less what people think.
