- kertong, on 01/02/2008, -0/+22This article is from november - didn't ASUS deny this 10" rumor in mid-november or so?
- lukas88, on 01/02/2008, -1/+19What doesn't run linux? my digital piano can run linux for chrissakes
- thewump, on 01/02/2008, -4/+19Hmm. Without a projected price we can't double it and get an idea of cost.
- dopplerdog, on 01/02/2008, -0/+9Yes, they did. It's an old unconfirmed rumour. Even if they did have one in store, they'd hardly announce it now. Anyone remember Osborne? The CP/M - compatible computer maker from the early 80's? They went bankrupt announcing a new model when they still had plenty of old models in stock. Asus wouldn't go bankrupt, but they'd lose money by doing this.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+9old rumor and dis-confirmed by Asus.
buried as inaccurate (regretfully..)

(sorry for the copypasta comment abuse, I just don't want anybody to get their hopes up under false pretenses) - mike23w, on 01/02/2008, -1/+7"ASUS Confirms 8GB EEE PC with a 10 inch Screen"
No they didn't:
http://www.eeeuser.com/2007/11/14/rumors-about-10- ... - Firehed, on 01/02/2008, -1/+6I don't like Vista much either, but could we please for five seconds stop spewing utter nonsense? Vista 32-bit can't even address 8 gigs of RAM, and runs perfectly fine with 2GB (which costs about $30 right now, so you have no excuse).
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4and posted Nov 15th 2007 (by the same site, engadget)
http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/15/asus-denies-pla ... - inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5I hope they remove the side speakers and just go with headphone jack. Or make the speakers more discrete.
- JamesWilson, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3They have already waked Vista on it.
http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/14/vista-gets-wran ... - CaviMike, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3It's bad enough when rumours make the front page but this is pathetic.
- divided, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3Also posted Nov. 14th:
http://www.eeeuser.com/2007/11/14/rumors-about-10- ... - 2ltkap, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2I hope that the original 2g surf which I have pegged as my PDA replacement unit will actually drop to the promised $200 dollars price range.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2You clearly don't - he's referring to the fact the the 'projected' price of the first lot of EEE PC's was around half of the actual selling price they came out at.
- krusader3z, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2"10" is all the convincing i needed."
oh no.
You must be new to the internet - Muncher, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Close enough: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ...
- fkr3, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Guess you need to save up for a while longer..... or get a better job. $60 for 2 GB is still a sexy price.
- Evi1d33d, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I wonder if I can run iATKOS on it (patched for SSE2).
- Firehed, on 01/02/2008, -2/+3Price to Asus, cost to us.
Yeah, I think it was a little poorly worded too. Get over it- you know what he meant. - arandomgeek, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1I knew there was a reason I was holding out on getting one...
- KungFuJesus, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1actually, i don't think linux has ever run on a toaster, but i know that BSD has.
- mb3581, on 01/02/2008, -2/+3I want to get one of the little 4Gs so bad. A co-worker of mine just got one and those things are awesome for traveling which we do a LOT of. I juts know if I get one now a better one will come out in two months. However, if the 10" 8G comes out at a decent price, I may well just bite the bullet and get it.
- latova, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2That settles it. I'm getting this one. 10" is all the convincing i needed.
- MattBD, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1One of my co-workers got one the other day and she brought it in today. Great little machine, it's got Frozen Bubble installed and the webcam is really great. I really want one!
BTW, my co-worker has never used Linux before and she manages fine with it. - latova, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1...and 8 gigs is only the requirement to play solitaire.
- latova, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Mono speaker inside the main machine would do fine.
- Beatmiser, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I picked up the 4 gig last week. Added an extra gig of ram. Waiting on an external cdrom to install windows XP. I've done a lot of perusals and can't wait. I will say this, though, my giant man-hands can't handle the keyboard.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1SSDs in those sizes become prohibitively expensive.
One of the major selling points for the EEEpc is the - netdroid9, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I dunno about you, but two 1gb sticks costs $40AUD down here. Single 2GB sticks still cost a fair bit, but frankly if you're going to try for 4GB you'd be better off getting a motherboard with 4 DDRII slots. As for 8GB, well, by the time anything actually uses that much RAM (well, anything that most users are going to use) we'll have moved over to DDRIII.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1i think a toaster is the canonical (pun not intended) linux-running example
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1where is Rick Astley when you need him?
- wm666, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1what happens to Digg.com?
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1We can't can't?
- Darkhacker, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Do you have a link to this $30 RAM? I'm browsing newegg and seeing most 2 GB at around $60+.
- flush2x, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0Of course you're absolutely right. I'm just saying give it time and the price of SD memory will come down. I actually quite like the product's specs otherwise. It's small, extremely portable, efficient, has a desktop version of Linux, internet ready, USB ports, VGA out... What's not to love? Data capacity. Squeezing my data needs into 8GB is just not possible. Otherwise I want one... in black. ;)
- penno, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1two words. all ***** right!
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1i do hope that you've looked at the dates of these articles...
- flush2x, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0I've been seriously eying this product for some time now. The screen size isn't really an issue for me. The low memory is a concern, and the screen resolution is more of a detraction than it's actual size because I *want* it to be small... BUT... The one feature it's got to have is a larger (solid state) hard drive. 16GB and I'll be happy, 32GB and I'll be in heaven, but 4 and/or 8GB is simply inadequate. Oh, and I want it in black. No bright colors please.
- fkr3, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1I have a 12 inch HP which I bought because I do a lot of travel.... the Asus is tempting but only in a "who cares if it's gets stolen" way.
- karlwu, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0We can't?
- latova, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1I would of added he /sarcasm tag but I figured it was obvious.
- nerdtron, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2Oh you bastards....Apple's potentially releasing a truly portable machine for the first time in a looooong time, and now this? where were you guys when i needed you!?
- cawfee, on 01/02/2008, -1/+0Neato. Can't wait for the things to drop down to the 350ish price range; I'd get a full-fledged laptop, but it seems overpowered for on-the-go note taking and email checking / light browsing. UMPCs are still in the 800-900$ area, and same goes for slate tablet PCs. So with the added memory and space, this might just be the thing a lot of people are looking for.
- penno, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1maybe this article's wrong? they've been wrong in the past.

yes, i am a smartarse. (c: - schestowitz, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1It was only a couple of months ago that Asus denied loud rumours that they would be an Eee desktop. Interesting developments...
- MISDIREK7ED, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1We can't?
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1the women are gunnalovethis
- geminitojanus, on 01/02/2008, -5/+2Hint: they're not selling these things at a loss. Asus isn't Microsoft or Sony. You probably meant "halve it".
