- keralablogger, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Really helpful to startoff and excel in GIMP, the open source image editor.
Schools in Kerala, India have switched to teaching students, Open Source Apps, including GIMP.
And as such, this killer resource list is awesome.
:) - sumeshpremraj, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4Nice to see tutorials other than those for just Photoshop. We need to educate people that there are alternatives to Photoshop - most people are simply ignorant of GIMP and other FOSS.

- jaxter2010, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1I have tried GIMP, but it just seemed unintuitive compared to Photoshop. What I would really like to see is Photoshop get ported to Linux. With regards to that, why don't people try to port the mac photoshop to linux instead of the windows version to linux. One would think that porting something from one branch of unix to another would be easier than going from windows to linux. Does someone care to explain that?

- deepakiyer, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0Answer is simple. It is all about keeping their software proprietary. Adobe doesn't want to make their most used tool open source. And it comes with a huge price tag. Porting it to Linux would mean that they have to give it effectively free, as anyone can compile the source code.
