- thewump, on 08/05/2008, -2/+6I go through this about once every 6 months - trying something new, loving it ( even though there is always one or two annoyances ), then a week later not remembering why I stopped using Firefox.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4Dugg, for calling it GNU/Linux!
- Cenobite, on 08/05/2008, -1/+3If anything, I am a Firefox zealot, but I really can't agree with an argument of "change your lifestyle to fit in with the drawbacks of the software."
Konqueror is a great browser and is super-fast on KDE - at the very least much quicker to start up than Firefox - but I still use FF. Why? Because I've had my Firefox set up just the way I like it for years now, and I feel crippled whenever I go on the web without it. - taseedorf, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4Firefox does seem slow in Kubuntu for me. I don't know..it does get annoying...I try alternatives, but they aren't as friendly as my lovely firefox....
- Cryoniq, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4Well if you do not have "time" to fire up firefox, it actually mean that you really need to tag down a lot and stop a very stressful behavior. Seriosly. Worst cause ever for not starting firefox.
- daftman, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1It's not the drawback of the software when the user choose to install too many add-ons.
The only addons an average user need are Adblock and Noscript.
Developers like me might use Firebug but that's about it. - TrellSaracen, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1No, you're not the only one.
Every time someone mentions Dillo I keep thinking "WTF? Are you high?" It's worse than K-Meleon, FFS. - ileftfark, on 08/05/2008, -2/+2I effing love Konqueror as a file manager, but KHTML sucks. I've heard the newer versions (KDE4.x) would drop it in favor of Gecko, which isn't necessarily the best rendering engine, either. But to replace it with Dolphin for file management is blasphemy. Blasphemy!
- neasteflorin, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Firefox 3 is the best browser at the moment.
- Kingoftherings, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Konquerer hasn't worked for me lately as a web browser. It didn't work in Gentoo, so I figured it was just me, but it also didn't work in OpenSuse 11...
It can't connect to the internet when everything else can. - whataboutdave, on 08/05/2008, -3/+2Am I the only one that finds it somewhat absurd that any one list would recommend Opera and Dillo? I'm sure we could all name a lot of browsers, but what's the point? Dillo is in no way a replacement for Firefox or a peer to Opera.
This list is only useful for those with only a cursory knowledge of browser options. - embeemb, on 08/05/2008, -3/+2It kinda doesn't make sense to be running GNU/Linux then use a closed-source browser..
