- insllvn, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1It is disappointing that free software effectively costs more than proprietary software. Clearly Microsoft has paid Asus off, or in some less direct way subsidized XP on the EEEPC. This is really Microsofts wrong, and I am not sure I would hold it against Asus. Sure, you would hope Asus would do a little to support the FOSS and the community that helped them launch a successful product like the EEEPC. On the other hand, if Asus is offered money for a deal that will help it to make even more money, they would be foolish not to take it. The real criminal is Microsoft, who are using their superior resources to make their product artificially competitive as a means of preserving their near monopoly status. I am just saying we should give credit where credit is due.
