- Presentlight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks like a rip off of the Google personalization...which was a rip off of portals. I hate to bring things back to Google, but they made the portal actually worth it.
- thatedeguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0actually, the start.com page was a rip off of the google personalization, which is just as good as the google/ig page. the live would seem to be an ajax or similar programmed site that would be a little more actively or "live" updated site.

at least they're ripping a design that's minimal. - debian_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bonus points for the nice mixed gradient of the Windows logo colors used at the right edge of the search box, sexy.
- fx101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Microsoft is loosing their cool
- ext237, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Everytime I hit the site, it freezes up the window and I have to crash it and restart. Happens to several people here at work.
- FuzzyBunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anybody notice the note at the top of the page?
"Firefox support is coming soon. Please be patient :-)"
Just thought it was interesting. - weareglass, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Doesn't even show up in Safari. Lame but not surprising.
- ScottyTee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1nice domain (wonder how much they had to pay), pity about the rest...

Is that real????? you sure its Microsoft?!?!?!?! - rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0whats up with you guys posting to your own blogs like that scottytee *****? are you guys just humungus pieces of ***** or what? can't afford to advertise? still even if you couldn't that doesnt give you a right to post your stupid ***** along with short meaningless commnets. I made a website to sell my 2004 Pontiac BOnneville and I'm looking into advertising but I wont stoop to the level you losers are at.
- rileyjt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very similar to the start.com site, although live.com doesn't seem to work as well.
Personally, I like the concept a lot. MSN was never very appealing to me and was made to compete with AOL's target audience. Thats fine but it cluttered up their web services with so much crap that they just became a pain to use if you didn't want to be bombarded with a blinking, flashing and slow interface. Separating them out like they are doing seems like a smart way to keep the existing users while also providing a fast and effecient version of those services. Plus it should allow those services to be built and expanded on.
We'll have to see how well they can pull everything together - and how long it takes them. The site was obviously thrown together very fast though and looks a bit desparate. Maybe thats not a bad thing though. Whether you like MS or not, its definitely good to see them paranoid and hustling again :) - tweeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dosntweareglass - same in Opera - you get only the search bar...
- cheese06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1 site ***** blows.
- TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At least they mentioned firefox :)
- m1th, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Wow... I mean, Wow! That is just terrible.
- DJS2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Meh , I thought the google page was cool but I stop using it after one week.
For me bookmarks work just fine. - captainjy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2All you fanboy anti-MS people! Everyone rips off someone. Please tell me what is so original about Google? I seem to remember Yahoo being on top until Google came along. There's nothing special about Google, Firefox or Microsoft. Personally, I think GMail is crap. It's functionality is not what I consider ground breaking or original. Google's IM client is the biggest piece of crap that I have seen. MS does mail and they do it right. Their new mail beta is stellar. By far, the most easy-to-use and smoothest Web mail client out there. I use a PC because I have always used one, but do like OS X. I use IE because I think Firefox is a pumped up version of Netscape and Netscape sucked. I use Google to search because it's clean and ads are shoved down my throat. I own an IPOD because clearly, the IPOD is the best MP3 player on the market. I use MSN Messenger because I use Hotmail and like the mail notification through Messenger. I own an ATI X850 because the price was right and it's a fast card. So yeah, I use a little bit of everything because I like it, not because someone tells I have to.
- Flyer00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Does Microsoft have their heads up their asses? They already have www.start.com, which is the same as this except it works in Firefox. Just use Start.com...
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ahem...netvibes.com, best portal page EVER! It's really nice once you get it all customized. I switched from google.com/ig about 2 weeks ago and don't regret it at all.
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is it just me or does this look and function exactly like www.start.com
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm confused is this the next version of start.com or what? It looks exactly the same.
- ramadan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It usest the same DNS server as microsoft.com, so it isn't fake.
- tweeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flyer00, i bet its thier next "portal" or something for the windows Vista, cuz i dont see why they called it "windows live" and its just like start if it doesnt got something to do with windows....
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a whois search turned up the domain belongs to some guy named Jack Spur in Nova Scotia, Canada. seems fishy, could be real
- muzzamo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Everytime I hit the site, it freezes up the window and I have to crash it and restart. Happens to several people here at work.
--> This also happens to me here at work too..... - CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1lol - they admitted FireFox is out there.... shame its a ripoff of Google.... AGAIN
- shockme17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whats the difference between this and start.com ?
they look pretty much the same - Jaxim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It does seem like they're copying Google's Personalized Page. But why? Google's portal fairs in comparison to portals like MSN and My Yahoo.
I'm sorry. I was hoping Google's Personalized web portal would get to the same usefulness and attractiveness as MSN and My Yahoo, and not have the other way round where the other portals reduce to the lower quality level of Google's portal?!
Not everything Google is Good. - muldoonaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0no digg until firefox is supported :(
- philhansen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Ahem...netvibes.com, best portal page EVER!"
It's definitely the best one I've used so far. Has been getting regular updates of new features and looks the best to boot (my opinion of course). - shigami, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think they should make Windows open source
- ArtVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's like 'start.com' was so good that they had to up and do it again with a different domain name.
- Katsushiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Count me in as another Netvibes.com guy. I used to use Google/IG, but after playing around with Netvibes, I switched and not looking back. Took a peek at this, and, frankly: lame. Netvibes ftw, and they keep adding more and more features. Nothing to see here.
- HypnotiQBen84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Netvibes.com rox my sox. :o)
- Lumbeekid06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this looks oddly familiar........
- truax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i've noticed digg.com is still not on the default list of tech feeds in all these new portals, it disappoints me..
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think it is that bad. The searching is really really fast. Probably because there are not millions of concurrent searches going on like with Google. Interesting to see what happens. It isn't exactly ugly, but it has that Windows aesthetic that is more anesthetic than anything else IMHO.
- mad23dog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No firefox support yet?!?!?
- Monkeyfarmer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Lame:
"Firefox Users
Firefox support is coming soon. Please be patient :-)"
No Digg - Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if i could digg this twice i would, as microsoft used a smiley face.
- tukten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No Firefox support... and Google's custom home page is much better. I hope they have some plans to improve this through the beta.
- kevd18, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Microsoft you stupid google copying bastards. Two letters: F U
-Kevin - kevd18, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Firefox Support Coming Soon --Translation-- Firefox Support Never Coming Use our ***** product IE and get spyware
P.S. We like the RIAA better than the customer
-Microsoft - baldwinmathew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no digg for look at me too companies. ;)
-matt - apersaud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Google already does this. Mr. Softy is not original. They are always playing catch up with Google.
- nicnerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What in the world would anyone use this dumb site for? If I were inclined to visit a portal site (which I find pretty worthless) there are much better alternatives.
- st0ney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm using firefox and it works just fine.
- shockme17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does anyone have a comment about this page compared to microsofts other portal page "start.com" ?
why do they have 2 now ? - ovidius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Umm... what's the point? Why would anyone use live.com over anything else? For their sake I hope MS has something impressive up their sleeve for this. Otherwise this is a total waste of time and effort!
