- 1958 diggs
- digg it
- EricTheGrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The others on the page are great too, although I've seen one put to use before.
I've gotta remember these... :)
EtG - MattZed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Love this and the snow one. Classic comedy.. well not all to classic :)
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sticky Keys is better anyway.
- ihybridora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it sucks that this magazine is out of production
- VSLOATHE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most of us geeks - being network administrators and other people of position (the only REALLY important people in a company), could probably figure out a way to do it remotely, rather than having to wait until someone is away.
- butlershouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Almost as good as just choosing to add a keyboard shortcut ( usually Shift T ) and making it rotate the screen image 180degrees . Most modern Xp environments let you do this.
- kevinnn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty lame :D
- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahaha...
I love the " Office-Wide Memo Mayhem" one. - nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ha, "It burns when I pee". thats a good one.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Who cares?
- creepyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried one joke with great results a few years ago. Set it up on the pm's machine. Tony little program, set to run once on bootup, every 30 seconds it would toggle the caps lock. He thought he was being hacked and deleted his C: drive when trying to block access. I happened to wander over there when he had the pc tech trying to figure out why it wouldn't boot. Found out later what he'd done when he admitted it in a meeting. I still giggle to myself about it. If he's simply rebooted his machine, it wouldn't have loaded again.
Just goes to show that some bosses have just enough knowledge to get themselves in trouble. - JimGardner1973, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. I think this could be digg's ride the dolphin
- Ryetronics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My friend of mine will always go into people's MS Word and have it autocorrect "the" into "the friggin". It subtle but damn funny.
Also, when someone leaves their computer open with an IM client running, start randomly clicking on people who are online and type "i miss your touch" or "hold me" or anything else to make them look stupid. - keane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I did this to my roommate a while back and it was pretty cool. I changed the first 20 used words from http://www.duboislc.org/EducationWatch/First100Words.html to expletives and I also made it so every time he typed his own name, it would change it to "Batman". I did it expecting it to just be a short lived annoyance. Instead, it worked out much better as the noob couldn't figure out what was going on. He didn't know how to turn off autocorrect. oh, and he had a paper due the next day.
He ended up ABANDONING his computer and going to the computer lab to write his paper! He asked me if I had done anything and I just told him it was hackers. I think his current plan is to buy a new firewall to make the problem stop. Such a noob its not even funny. wait, it still is. - Slackwise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Heh, he forgot that on XP you can just right click the desktop and select: "Arrange Icons By" --> "Show Desktop Icons" to hide all the desktop icons. Probably Win2K as well. It's better than moving peoples icons around.
Even better is to hide the taskbar, or kill explorer.exe in the Task Manager. The desktop will still appear but nothing will work.
Ok, I'm marking this "lame" because even I could think of better pranks. :P - Spathiinc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who leaves their computer unlocked anyway?
- Slackwise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indeed. How hard is it to press WinKey+L to lock it before you walk off?
- firehydra2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0excellent....
- Shadowsnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0HAHAHHAH
- Cybersqu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0***** balls banana!!
- Shii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got suspended from school for doing this. >:(
I'm not kidding, either. It went on my permanent record as "hacking". (this was back in 1999) - Killeroid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0some of the pranks are hilarious.my favorite is the "Office wide memo mayhem"
- damonlab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ctrl+shift+printscreen
- h0dge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i've done the "freeze frame" prank so much it isnt even funny, whether it be on my friends computers, school computers, work computers, ive done it.
- wolphcry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0LAME
- Bromskloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pff..tss....hmmpfff.......buAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GREAT ideas!
- znutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0schvontz.....+digg
- the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The best one is to get a wireless keyboard and mouse, plug it into his computer, and then sit in the next cubicle down and open Word and start typing messages like "Wake up, Neo."
Or if you want to just screw two people at the same time and not have to do anything yourself, get two sets of wireless keyboards and mice, plug them into two separate computers, and then switch the keyboards and mice. Throughout the day when they go on break, switch them back and forth again.
Or just switch the keyboards but not the mice, that way one person will be in word and the other guy will open ie, and next thing you know the first guy will be wondering why word is coming up with a bunch of porn sites. :P - the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Another good one is when you visit a doctor's office and they have you in the waiting room for hours, bring a Linux Live cd and put it in the computer so next time he reboots... *evil cackle*
- 5m0k3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Another great one is to take a screenshot of a user's desktop, and paste it into an image editor. Save it as the desktop wallpaper. Then, hide the start menu and desktop icons. The person will furiously click at his fake icons/start button, wondering what is wrong. ^_^
Alternately, if you are skilled with Powerpoint, you can fool some users by make an error powerpoint.
Dragging open windows to the lower left or right corner of the screen is also a good prank.
http://techblaster.blogspot.com - sfcaptainrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good stuff.
- lobbster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0meh i already new abot it
- leboff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It works much better on Library computers, like at a school. That way hundreds of people use it a day.
- fudged71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does anyone NOT know how to do this? i've been doing this for years
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Ultimate Snow Job will MOST CERTAINLY get YOU fired. Although harddrive pallters are sealed, the mechnisms driving them are NOT. Does your victim - or anyone else near your victim have ASTHMA?
The Voodoo Word Prank COULD get the victim in trouble, sent home, fired OR then once you admit to it, the prank COULD get your fired or slapped OR if you dont admit to it, at least offer some "expert" advice (or call in the IT guys cuz they will probably LOOK FOR THESE TYPES OF PRANKS FIRST THING - I always do) to "save" the day and look like a "hero" to the newb.
Freeze frame prank - IMO (anything I ***** write is my ***** opinion UNLESS I report otherwise) see above but probably less severe reprimand.
If you stuck lunch meat in my phone, no one should EVER tell me who did it, cuz the culprit will be buying me the sweetest, newest, spankiest phone OUT OF THEIR PAYCHECK, no questions asked and it will look like a legitamate tax payable to the "government" when he sees it on his pay stub - I assure you - but, I'll proabably wait at least 6 months before I strike my revenge, and in the meantime there would be plenty of evidence against you provided by your actions that would easily show management that you are Street Material. But, now that I think about it, ***** with yer check is probably some kind of federal offense, so I'll just put a lightly microwaved egg in your CPU case, making sure to olean it up against some nice warm RAM or video card, then just wait.........
The Office Wid Memo prank? Probably the best and hardest to pinpoint as to the culprit. I'd do it. - fudged71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i agree..... at school would be nice
- TomP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Done a few of them home and school, the freeze frame prank pissed my dad off for days!
- Tom | http://www.tomwrote.info - dognose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I switching around all the icons on the desktop. changing mycomputer icon w/ the trash icon, etc. He was very desktop oriented then, so he was quiet pissed.
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...Indeed. How hard is it to press WinKey+L to lock it before you walk off?..."
Maybe Because WinKey+L doesnt work on most computers anymore?
Did they bring that back in XP since it was removed in Win95c? - JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2just add a unclickable 'porn' folder to your friends desktop using the same methods.
My friend (girl) always has one folder like that on her desktop. - wildkarde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lame
- Mattman723, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow bologna phone... +digg
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Better, safer, and smarter pranks:
Switch the keyboard keys (physically) N with M or C with V or the BEST is the < with > !!! Oh yeah - that last one really will screw with an asholprogrammer's head for quite a while. "Why wont these file extensions work????"
Remap the keyboard. But, first make a backup of the primary code page. Rename the pranked one to the current page, then when a "smart" IT guy comes in to fix, it doesnt get fixed, unless he works for me and then knows after that result to re-install that part from the OS disk.
Do the same soft switch with the Gamma profile, then delete the "new" profile so when checked, theproifiles list will be blank - as if never used. Quite confusing. So basically you change the gamma so that the colors are just a little "off".
Change the screen refresh rate to something that looks like a subtle flicker - 77Hz is fun in a flourescent lit office - your victim will be rubbing their eyes all morning long, and after about an hour will proabably have to lie down until the headache goes away - but you, the real headache, will still be there, doubled over in pain fron the laugh-ta.
And please, let's be a little more creative with the Word templates please - remember to save Normal.dot to Normal.dop (Simpson reference incl), then start Word - normal.dot will be recreated. Now make it so that the lower case o comes out as a subscript 0 (which looks very close to a lower case o). This simple little trick will drive an Excel guru to the local pub real quick! Or the l to a | less one font size! This one is also a real fun one when debugging code!
Come on people, get on the ball and be creative! - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And of course, save the newer "normal.d0t" !
- DaBigWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For example, "It burns when I pee."
- nukey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When your colleges forget to lock their workstation, press shift+alt+printscreen and then press enter.
When your having a bad day, walk around the office and try to do as many as you can.. made my boring day a whole lot better ;) - graemee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The narrator hack is funny, this can be turned on even if XP is locked. Just hit ALT+U to get the utility manager and turn it on. Then minimize it and if you can turn the volume up, if it's laptop with external volume.
- dizzyd_23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did this back in the day at my high school. On several computers i made it so every time you typed in a teaches name, it would replace it with something like raging bitch or something of the sort. Very amusing watching someone type a school report and seeing the horror on their face as the teachers name turns from "Haberstick" to "Flabby Habby"
- jaxun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These most definitely make my list of "Ways I Will Get Fired", I'd say #23-29.
