AMAZING OPTICAL ILLUSION: Mr. Angry & Ms. Calm
ianrowland.com — via boingboing: This is one of the neatest optical illusions I've ever seen. Viewed up close, Mr Angry is on the left and Mrs Calm is on the right. If you back up, they swap places. Even works if you print it out.

- ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nice!
- outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whoah, thats pretty crazy.
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would love to see this implemented in other ways. Very, very cool.
Dugg. - ernesthoffmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is cool! amazing how illusions work...
- tehubersheezy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0not front page worthy
- okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0@tehubersheezy: you have ONE story submitted. complain when you submit more.
- aTriangulumRoom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0check out this website i dugg today:
http://digg.com/design/Awesome_Archive_of_the_Amazing_Paradoxical_M.C._Escher_Paintings
Escher painted tons of weird, optical illusions, paradoxical paintings, theyre so cool.. btw this optical illusion is really neat - Mysticcal, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1No Digg, I agree, not front page worthy...
Since when did Digg turn into Riply's instead of a source of news? - BT-Wang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it seems that it doesn't matter what distance I view it at, unless I intentionally unfocus my eyes.
- TyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dont see the differice. :S
- Lacero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Neat! But a little scary.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't really work too good.
- okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0@Mysticcal: hey, another complainer... only, this time with ZERO submissions. since when did digg become a bitch-athon? oh wait... its always been.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Holy hell that is cool. I did have to get up and walk across the room to see it on my screen, but squinting at it works just as well.
Digg++ - surf314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I for one think it's pretty cool. It's creepy when you stand right at the point when they change and move back and forth. I wonder how they know how far away from the computer I am to change the image. Best flash ever! (jk)
- themachina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame. Not an illusion, just shadows and lighting vs. the actual line art. Yawn.
- Backlash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well I thinks its pretty cool too... just fine for the front page! If it didn't make it to the front page I would have probably never seen it.
I feel sorry for those who complain, it took you like what, a couple of seconds to click the link, check it out, and hit the back botton on your browser. It had to have taken much longer than that to write a comment on how bad you thought it was and how its not front page worthy. - PlayWithFire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pfft, this was cool, people, why are you complaining?
made me go "wow, this is neat"
that's all a story needs to get a digg from me - DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, try this. Get a piece of paper and poke a small hole in it. Now while you are backed-up from the image look through the small hole and they switch back. Hold the oooohs and ahhhhs Ladies and Gents. This is an old science.
- DeadlyHunter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0no digg because of okcookienc's bad attitude
- N0um3n0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I doesn't work for me, both faces stay the same no matter how close or far I am from the picture.... What is wrong with me? Is this some big inter-site joke that you're all playing on me?!?! Up next: snipe hunting, right?
- Mark_H, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's harder to see if you watch it as you get away from it. If you don't see it, try turning around, walking a couple steps, then looking back at it all fresh-like instead of moving backwards and watching it the whole time.
- okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@n0um3n0n: if it doesn't work just backing up, back up and squint your eyes. :) good luck... its cool as hell when you get it to work.
@deadlyhunter: hey, im not trying to be a dick... i just dont appreciate it when ppl who do nothing for this site make simple, useless negative comments. - PAlacrosse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is soooooo DUGG
- aprocter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats crazy *****
- TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0reminds me of a dali painting... where up close it looks like a woman looking from a balcony... but from a distance looks like a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. I know its hard to believe... but it looks incredible
- unreal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0okcookienc you are truely a jack ass. You are acting like you have submitted tons of stories and have done so much for this site when almost every stoy you submitted was boring and got barely any diggs. You finally got a story where over 100 people dugg it. Wow! Digg just couldnt get by without boring jack asses like you.
You forget that even the people with no stories submitted are important. If they werent around this site would not be nearly as popular. So, calm down and get a life looser. - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@okcookienc:
So what is your opinion on people who make simple, useless "positive" comments? Are they any better just because you agree with them?
And if you don't like their comments "simple, useless negative comments", try mine. I may *only* have 4 submissions, but you should note that I purposely stopped even trying after Digg became a crapfest and I refuse to submit anything else until either a) this is rectified, or b) For some reason I'm the only one with some hot tech news that everybody has to know about. Since I don't see either happening soon, I probably won't be submitting soon, either.
But, I still say that this digg isn't *technology news* which is what Digg is *for* (don't believe me? Go to http://www.digg.com/faq and read the exact phrase "Digg is a technology news website". Is that clear enough?) - JohntB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apparently this works the same way the Mona Lisa's smile does. There is information hidden in the low-frequency data, so when you're farther back, at an angle, or you glance at it, it looks different from when scrutinized.
- DeadlyHunter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"hey, im not trying to be a dick"
could have fooled me - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0god, that hurts my eyes! pretty cool though
- p014k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice.
- Cryptecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty nice illusion, but yeah, I can't get the effect by moving back, I have to squint.
- HypnotiQBen84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Give me a second while I try to uncross my eyes....
- hsoj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fun Digg :) Creeped me out!
- magik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool :)
- MrCoke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok, 2 different pictures, i dunno if its a sign to get your eyes changed if you just see 2 different faces, or you need to get your eyes checked if they swap... lame in my opinion
- Nerys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it ahlf works for me. the left angry gets "softer" almost like mrs calm but the teeth remain. the one on the right mrscalm never seems to change no matter what I do. I can only see out of one eye I wonder if that has an effect ??
