- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Well, although this isn't completely on topic, there are thousands upon thousands of royalty-free stock images at http://sxc.hu . I use it a lot.
- nomadpete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice... there's a few nice repositaries of royalty images around. my current favourite is http://www.morguefile.com/ - always worth a look, especially for landscapes
- theOster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0flickr.com?

more "artsy-fartsy" stuff too
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This will be good for Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons then.
- raccettura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was just thinking the same thing... this needs to go in Wikipedia... would be nice if every article had at least 1 illustration if not more.
- barefootliam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of the images are already used by the Wikipedia. Please note that although most (not all) of the images are out of copyright, at least in the US and/or Canada, the overall collection of images is subject to copyright---in other words, please don't mirror it without asking!
If you do link from other sites, check http://www.fromoldbooks.org/howto/using-the-image.html and remember to include a link back to www.fromoldbooks.org so people who see the article on Wikipedia can find out more about the image.
Thanks!
- Geterix, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2Nice! Now all I have to do is copyright all of it and charge you suckers a mint for continued use!

http://www.fromoldbooks.org/Search/ - armbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1zscreem beat me to it
- RodeoRobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or you could do a google image search like "site:fromoldbooks.org cathedral"
http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=site%3Afromoldbooks.org+cathedral&btnG=Search - barefootliam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As zcreem says, I have a search engine (based on XML Query). As for not free, there's no fee for using it, and the source is available on request. It's a little tricky to set up right now, unfortunately.
Higher resolutions (or original scans) are (freely) available on request in most cases, although if you ask for a lot I might prefer to send you a CD-ROM, and ask that you pay shipping and a small fee.
