It was really amazing the FIRST time someone did it because it was inventive and no one had tried it before. And then everyone tried it. And then everyone could do it because you just put your blade flt on the puck, flick your wrists and get some momentum going.
I play hockey every Saturday night and there's a PeeWee (10 year olds) house league team that plays before us every week. I'd say close to 3/4 of the kids on the ice are pulling that same move all hour long. And they're just house league kids. You can tell from the way this kid skates that he's well above the house league level.
And what the hell was that goalie doing standing in his crease on a penalty shot? He should have been out at the hash marks. With that said, picking the puck up off the ice is actually not nearly as hard as it looks (there is a simple trick, once its figure out, its actually pretty easy). The trickiest part of this move is pulling off the spin, and still hitting the net. Whenver I try this move, I get disoriented on the spin part and put the puck about 8 ft wide of the net.
