Otherwise they would disapointed almost all the time. People go to Hockey games for the Hockey. A fight is just an added bonus the odd time it happens.

  • Kardall, on 03/09/2008, -0/+15Actually it was a Delay of Game call for that one. They had been in 2 fights prior to that, and this one was just dumb. They were delaying the game obviously since no punches thrown.
    But ya, it was weak. I remember that game, i saw it live and I couldn't believe it. I laughed so hard when they got a delay of game. I believe the habs won that game. But both teams lost a little respect.

  • KennMac, on 03/09/2008, -0/+12Because that's exactly what they're supposed to do. The objective is to break up the fight after both players have exhausted most of their energy in the fight. This happens to be the same time one or both players usually fall to the ice. This both saves the referees from taking punches while letting the players get the fight out of their system so it doesn't happen again later in the game.

    This was just a rare case where nothing happened.
