- LTP1984, on 03/22/2009, -0/+52As a Bruins fan, or a hockey fan for that matter, this is quite unsettling. This first "goal" was completely... inexcusable.
- flap, on 03/22/2009, -0/+29How could they count that first goal!? Ridiculous.
- MetalHead73, on 03/21/2009, -1/+30I'd be pissed too. Maybe not that pissed, but pretty pissed.
- SilverBack101, on 03/22/2009, -0/+27Poor milk crate was just two days away from retirement. :(
- Tamant, on 03/22/2009, -0/+25How was that first one a goal? ***** zebras
- nick041, on 03/22/2009, -0/+21The ref should be suspended for being blind. Not sure the first goal was legal. And the second was questionable.
And that milk crate should receive an apology. No milk crate should be treated like that. - Rev0lver, on 03/22/2009, -0/+18Reminded me of Happy Gilmore.
- KirbyMorph, on 03/21/2009, -0/+17Did the second goal go in or not? they didnt show any kind of slowmo or close ups, so hard to tell from a youtube clip if it was a post or not. First one shouldnt have counted. It wasnt continuous motion. He backed up and turned around before actually taking the second shot.
- DickyT83, on 03/22/2009, -0/+16Take that, milk crate!
- beervolcano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+12The first one was OBVIOUSLY not a goal! The second one is questionable without a replay since the video quality wasn't very good. The ref was pointing at the rear crossbar on the top of the goal as where the puck hit. It's possible that that's what happened.
- Scott83k, on 03/22/2009, -0/+11Rask has some serious potential when he stays up in the NHL
- cyrix, on 03/22/2009, -0/+8Yes that was complete *****. There was nothing continuous about his movement at all. He lost the puck and they still counted it.
- Jeffler, on 03/22/2009, -0/+7Can we him back?
- toronto - lekahe, on 03/21/2009, -0/+6It's the Finnish temperament :)
- coheedsmonstar, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5Goalies are crazy. Every single one I've met is just not 100% right in the head or something.
- hakkola, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Satana! Mitä vittun perkele! hahaha
Too bad we can't hear him, we have the best swears. - Hardataq, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Is there a slow motion replay anywhere? I don't even like hockey but I'm curious to know what really happened.
- YourPal, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4The second goal must have hit the post or crossbar because the puck bounced right back out onto the ice after the shot.
- tmanv, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4He's way better than Pogge...
- DaviDTC, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4Hey, those look like NBA refs!
- WordFlyer, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3You have to be crazy to play that position anyway... 100 mile an hour slap shots at you? check. Psychological issues from not getting to play the same way as the other kids? check. Getting screwed over by refs like in this video? check.
- xParker, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3pull both goalies? then it goes down to who can win the puck draw.
- anthonylam, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3The first goal was definitely not a goal. The rule states that during a shootout, the puck and player must always be moving forward, any backwards movement, and the play is dead. It should not have counted. The second is maybe with a video replay
- Jeffler, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3That baby is making $880,000 a year. He can buy all the milkie he wants. :P
- cyrix, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3Are you kidding, it's the best position to play imo. I've played goal since I was 8 and I would couldn't imagine ever being more happy playing any other position.
- Hockey13, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3HappyScrappy,
I agree with you about going to 3v3 before a shootout, but taking out the goalies is dumb. The point is to determine the better team in accordance with the rules and spirit of the game. If you take out the goalies, you're just having a long-distance empty-netter competition. If the dominant strategy is to place one of your forwards in net leaving two rovers out, that's not hockey anymore. A shootout would determine the better team better than that. - eville84, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2should have had this guy calling the goal: http://digg.com/hockey/Strange_Goal_Calls
- SilverBack101, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2I'd be pissed too with those questionably goals.
- sccrplyr40, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2this video is kinda crappy...wish there was slow motion so we could make sure it hit the post.
- saxon815, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2pound, wound, same thing.
- dawesdust12, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2I've seen goals happen that have done that, but usually it goes off the INSIDE crossbar.
- woofers07, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2I'm no hockey fan by any means, but any time a ref of any sport directly affects the outcome of a game seriously pisses me off.
- Lord_oftheTrons, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2We are talking about an AHL game here. They probably don't have the dozen camera angles that an NHL game would have. There is no war room in Toronto for an AHL game so slowmo or a view from in the net is probably not available.
- SteeleyDan, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2Terrible calls by the ref, but love Rask. Good to see some emotion from him, I'm glad he's not just withering down in Providence. Don't worry Tuuka, Fernandez will finally be gone next year and you'll be in Boston
- Truth3, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2A good way to let some steam off.
- CAPSLOCKON, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1It hit the crossbar.
- WordFlyer, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1That doesn't mean your not crazy ;-) I never said it was a BAD position.
- AAK15, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Hell yeah!
- dawesdust12, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1It should have been disallowed (well, following Hockey Canada rules), as the "shot" is completed when the goalie makes contact with the puck, in this case the poke check. Therefore his second shot, or the rebound, doesn't count whatsoever.
- saxon815, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Yea, I'd be pretty mad too I guess. And to rub salt in the pound, the poor guy put himself into the boards during his rant.
- Nightfall, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1Hey! I take exception to that! :D
All goalies are not crazy. We are just misunderstood. - DBradbury, on 03/22/2009, -1/+2This is the kind of passion the Leafs needed, too bad we traded him away...
- darcyp, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Thank god referees don't judge their calls on youtube videos. watched it again, and you're right.
- Nightfall, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1Its obvious that ref in way over his head if he can't call a shootout correctly in the AHL. Just for making the botched call on the first goal, he should be demoted to OHL or lower. I can't tell on the second attempt if the shot went in or not.
- theaceoffire, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1"I'm laughing at digg here."
Good, glad you are enjoying it.
"These guys got dugg up for making dumb-ass milk crate comments?"
Oh wait, you are jealous cause they made a joke and you didn't get it?
"Please stay out of my lowly sports section."
.... Is there a whole society living in the forgotten subcategories of Digg, that only surface once in a full blue moon to feast upon the happiness of others? - ThinkSoJoE, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1I gotta agree with you. At the same time, bad calls happen (that one was probably one of the worst I've seen though), you can't go off like that. Of course, I haven't really been following the AHL, too busy watching my Sabres' playoff dreams go up in smoke, so I really don't know how important the win would have been for Providence.
- teesix, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1The Bruins have 100 points. They wouldn't be fighting for a spot in the West. In fact the 8th place team in the east is 4 points up on the 8th place team in the west.
- atm259, on 03/22/2009, -1/+2***** posts.
- densetsu23, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Because they're in the Eastern Conference.
Put them in the West and they'd be fighting for a playoff spot. Look at their record against West teams, 9-6-3, doesn't sound like their 35-16-3 record against fellow Eastern teams. - dexter411, on 03/22/2009, -1/+2"the puck was always moving forward"
Thank god you're not a referee. The puck clearly went backwards before he took his second swipe at it. -
