- Jeffler, on 02/10/2009, -1/+5Anyone else think he could be picked up by someone else before its the Rangers turn on re-entry waivers? I could see the Leafs, Sens (how do you fix a locker room illness? CANCER!), Pens, and a few others being interested.
- anonymou38, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4If the Penguins pick this ass clown up I'm selling all my jerseys. I've hated this guy for years, and I really don't think I could cheer for any team that he's a part of.
- bstew22, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3I could see the Pens being interested, they need a little spark as well. I don't know about the Leafs... however i remember those Domi days.
But seriously. watching the Rangers was great the first 20 games. Now it's just painful. we can't buy goals. Outscored 13-2 in 2 games - zuiquan, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3Anon,
If I've grown to love the hated Chris Chelios you can learn to at least tolerate Sean Avery. Although I was really, really happy when the Wings let Bertuzzi go in free agency. That guy is a whole 'nother level of douchebag. - HCJfilms, on 02/10/2009, -1/+4A lot of the Rangers hated Avery and now they're really willing to take him back?
This proves 2 things: 1, Avery is incredibly overrated. 2, Man oh man are the Rangers desperate.
Let's Go Devils. - Jeffler, on 02/10/2009, -1/+4Or look at my front page history which is full of hockey submissions, with very few if any other espn articles.
- Jeffler, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Habs are behind the Rangers on the waiver wire, so no.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -4/+6Go BANANA!
- hdhock3y, on 02/14/2009, -0/+1Let' go Devils!
- Coug555, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Love this. First step to Avery back with the Rangers. I can't stand Avery but he's perfect for New York.
- ngmcs8203, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I'm with Anon, when the whispers included the Sharks my friends and I wrote a letter to Greg Jamison stating we would not renew our 9 season tickets if they signed Avery.
- zuiquan, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Well, we know that Sather wants him. If I were another GM and I had the cap space I would seriously consider picking him up and seeing what kind of loving Sather would give me in the form of a pick or player.
Although Avery comes with plenty of baggage he can be really effective on the right team with the right kind of leadership in the room. Obviously, Dallas is weak in the leadership department since all it took in NY was Shanny to keep "Puppy" in check all by himself. Full disclosure: I think Dallas is made up mostly of weak-sister, whiny babies and they couldn't deal with Avery's antics. - Jeffler, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1anon,
Got any XXL? Just preparing myself to be involved incase you do. :P - bastardo, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1True and this is not an attack on you or anything.
It's just that I've noticed a trend of ESPN articles with very low diggs making frontpage rather fast, and it's weird seeing various articles in the 30 to 100 diggs, when the average new article seems to need at least 100+ votes.
Just right now another espn.go.com article went up with 100 diggs... - Jeffler, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Most sports sections trend on needing less diggs.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Most true Ranger fans were sad to see him go, like myself. If you look at the Rangers number WITH Avery as opposed to WITHOUT him, it makes you wonder why more wasn't done to sign him at the start of the season, especially when you look what a bust a guy like Redden is turning out to be.
I didn't blame Avery for taking the big money he got in Dallas. Any fans that called him a traitor for leaving obviously can't grasp that ultimately, just like everything else, hockey is a business.
I have always stated, and many of my fellow Ranger fans have said as well that we'd love to have Sean back on Broadway. - TimmyGUNZ, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I'd rather see Avery give Martin Brodeur a "welcome back" present.
- SPRFRKR, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1"If the Penguins pick this ass clown up I'm selling all my jerseys. "
I heard Caps fans say the same thing when they got Brashear- now he's a fan favorite. - dynamojoe, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I looked it up. It can't happen that way. 13.20(b) of the CBA says that the player picked up can't be traded away until the end of the playoffs that season without being offered to any other clubs who put in a waiver claim at the same terms.
So if the Isles and NYR put in a claim, the Isles get him since they're lower in points. If NYI doesn't want him after a week of his nonsense, they can offer him to NYR but can't get anything in trade for him (except maybe the waiver price).
IANAL and could be reading it wrong. Here's the CBA: http://www.nhlpa.com/CBA/2005CBA.asp
And of course there's nothing to say that the NYR won't trade a pick or minor leaguer to NYI for "future considerations" later on... - dynamojoe, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Bummer that the Rangers and Stars have already played their games against one another this season. Anyone else want to see Avery play against a team that was united against him?
- unknown32, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Common people ! we are missing a joke here!.
*waving stick infront of posters face*
Helllo! their is a joke here!
*waving stick infront of poster face*
HELLLO!
LOL
with respect... avery - TimmyGUNZ, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1The only team that will take Avery will be the Rangers. Why would a team like Pitt want to lose the cap room on such a risky player when there are many more viable free agents out there with less stigma.
Realistically, the only place Avery CAN go is NY as we as Ranger fans are the only ones that really embrace him. Any guy that can piss off Brodeur like that is A-Okay in my book! - mkmega, on 02/10/2009, -1/+1Go CANADA!
- degenerasian, on 02/10/2009, -1/+1I could see the Pens picking them up, they're getting pretty desperate.
Or even the HABS, wouldn't that be something! But after their pathetic display tonight and losing 8 of 10, they'll do anything! - mrkredo, on 02/10/2009, -3/+3Go Rangers!!!
- mocomber, on 02/10/2009, -5/+5It's his turn for sloppy seconds....With the Rangers
- speedk0re, on 02/10/2009, -1/+1some updated comments from today from Sather and Avery (and a video of Orr knocking Rupp on his ass last night) can be found here:
http://nyrangers4life.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/the ... - djfonz, on 02/10/2009, -3/+2Go orange!... gooooo grapefruit!
- bastardo, on 02/10/2009, -4/+3How does this get on the front page with 35 diggs and 1 comment? =/
I think ESPN is using some sort of paid voting or something.
