  • jaredongie, on 06/13/2009, -11/+160I was at a sports bar down the street watching the game... and a 30-something lady got crazy drunk next to me. She was rooting for the Pens, and I had my Red Wings jersey on... The drunker she got, the fiercer her antagonism became.

    So at the end of the game, as Fluery kept making those great saves, she looked over to me and yelled "DENIED! DENIED! DENIED! DENIED! DENIED!" Over and over and over again.

    And even though The Wings lost - there is a silver lining. On the way out, my brother and I were in the parking lot heading to the car... and the bitch trips on the sidewalk. I mean, she hits the ***** deck.

    My brother looks across the lot and yells, "Denied!"

    Great game.

    They would've been a better team midway through the year, not by much, but slightly. Therrien wouldn't be fired, Bylsma wouldn't have been hired, the Kunitz and Guerin trades wouldn't have happened. The Hossa including Pens would've either barely missed the playoffs, or been eliminated early.

I thought with the final game being in Detroit and looking at last years cup finals, their respective seasons this year, and how the pens have played in this series in Detroit they wouldn't have a shot in hell. I'm glad I was proven wrong of course. Detroit put up a hell of a fight too. I practically ***** myself with that shot that went off the crossbar right near the end.
