This year has been totally different. In the first round the Canucks/Blues and Ducks/Sharks series were great. This round the Pens/Caps series has been one of the best I can remember. Great wide open, skilled, entertaining hockey.

It is one of the most intense, fun things to watch in your life! Ovechkin is the best player in the league by far.

You look at NHL hockey two years before the lockout, and look at a playoff game post-lockout, and the difference is astounding.
No more clutching and grabbing, or boring "trap" games. Guys flying up and down the ice...it's amazing.
It is too bad more people aren't watching, because Hockey is a helluva sport to watch. Makes the NBA look like a bunch of tall guys standing around in a circle talking about knitting. - dynamojoe, on 05/12/2009, -1/+8Both teams should be proud of their effort. The problem is that they're beating up each other so well that the winner of the Canes/Bruins series might have an easier time on them (unless that series goes to seven games as well). This playoff season has done the NHL proud so far.

Go Pens! - Griminald, on 05/12/2009, -0/+3Fleury and Varlamov have had the toughest jobs in the playoffs so far with the skill level they need to deal with on the ice. Varlamov has especially done a good job in the series of bailing out the Caps after a multitude of turnovers.
When Theodore got yanked after Game 1 of the Rangers series, I'm sure almost nobody thought they had a chance -- it's hard not to root for Varlamov right now.
I also feel kind of bad for Malkin -- on any other team he could be a top-line forward (although at times he's out on the ice with Crosby), and he's played some of his best hockey when Crosby hasn't been in the lineup, but he's stuck playing second-fiddle. Actually it may not be too bad for the guy, keeps some pressure off. - BobDle, on 05/12/2009, -7/+9dugg for hockey.

Last nights pens/caps game was extremely exciting. But also how about the vancouver/chivago game last night, 20 year old gets his first nhl hatrick right when it counts, chi city was behind with minutes left and then pulled off the upset, i couldn't believe it!
