- Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -0/+38Oh, and btw, I put together a video summary (its been submitted and its in my favourites, but actually linking the article may be considered spam, so yeah).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec0p72Bp_nI - Nephersir7, on 01/04/2009, -1/+37Greatest sport on earth!
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -0/+35Unreal ending. Eberle was clutch - and the 'Energy' line kept Canada in the game.
It was another epic battle between two old foes. You have to feel for that Russian player who could have ended the game but decided to ice the puck.
Bring on Sweden - that should be a real barn burner too. - AlbionEikon, on 01/04/2009, -0/+30Gotta love it!
- Sornos, on 01/04/2009, -0/+27The Russians always put up a good fight. They're a good team.
- jlgosse, on 01/04/2009, -1/+25I should have been there. So disappointed now. Why would OCTranspo go on strike at such a pivotal point in my life? WHY!?
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 01/04/2009, -0/+19Being from Ottawa...I'm just happy to see a home-team win in the Scotiabank place.
- Metahero, on 01/04/2009, -0/+18The Russians and Canadians might not win every tournament, but I don't think there is any arguing that these two countries are the world's top two hockey powers.
- Nitrodist88, on 01/04/2009, -0/+18Honestly, that was an incredibly tense game even just watching it. I can only imagine the emotions of the players.
- supermanred, on 01/04/2009, -5/+22In Canada, we don't call that a miracle. My friend's wife said "Oh, you lost are you guys going downstairs for a smoke now?" and we said "There's still half a minute left!" and sure enough...
suck it, Russia. - iMiXiMi, on 01/04/2009, -0/+15Being from Edmonton, i'm so happy to have Eberle as our draft pick. It will be a good season next year if he plays.
Now the game, was one of the most exciting ones yet. You have to feel a little for the Russians.
Excluding Latvia and Kazakhstan, the whole tournament is getting so much closer. - jeremymccurdy, on 01/04/2009, -1/+15*****' A! Take it all Team Canada!
- Rayza, on 01/04/2009, -0/+14Are you drunk? This is one of the greatest yearly hockey tournaments.
- Fozefy, on 01/04/2009, -0/+13I say eh, but this is not the proper usage of it....
Also, why is it demeaning? Its just our own colloquial language. - fishbulb95, on 01/04/2009, -0/+12This is why I love hockey.
- stoikiometry, on 01/04/2009, -0/+12Was wondering how long until this came up. I'm glad it turned out the way it did. That last goal (off Canada's own player's skate) would have been a real ***** loss. But then to score with 5.4 seconds left, 10 minutes overtime, then a shootout to win was just amazing. Canadians and Russians are the best.
- mistahroth, on 01/04/2009, -0/+11Such an intense game all around, I expect nothing less of a Canada - Russia game. Completely awesome. Love being in Ottawa while this is going on :)
- pkjohnson17, on 01/04/2009, -0/+11everyone who is a hockey fan cares about the world juniors
EVERY NHL star plays in this tournament, what's better than watching all the future NHL stars playing in a tourny representing their country and playing for national pride and the love of the game
and 15-19 year olds???? you'll be lucky to see a 17 year old on the ice, let alone a 16 or 15 year old - sweetpickle, on 01/04/2009, -0/+11They are still on strike??! BTW i am from ottawa but working in US right now, I miss Tim Hortons like crazy!
- Alexcarrier, on 01/04/2009, -0/+11I, for one, say Tabarnak!
- Jacare, on 01/04/2009, -1/+11he didn't "decide" to ice the puck he tried to score from inside his own blue line. i feel so bad for him tho he had the room to get closer but opted to shoot it.
- jonnystarks, on 01/04/2009, -0/+10Unbelievable. I can't believe the heart these kids show every game.
- jonnystarks, on 01/04/2009, -1/+11Whenever Canada's playing in the medal round there's only one awesome game on.
- pkjohnson17, on 01/04/2009, -0/+10i really wish the slovak goalie wouldn't of had the game he had
A Canada US rematch for the gold would of been epic =( - e1evene1even, on 01/04/2009, -0/+9Amazing game. Especially if you happened to be in any sports pub in Canada watching it.
When we scored with 5.4 seconds left, the whole country was rockin' : ) - Speed, on 01/04/2009, -0/+9Actually, I said "*****' rights".
I do say "eh", but wrong context dude... - Philoushka, on 01/04/2009, -1/+10Please don't be so arrogant, from one Canadian to another. Did you even watch the game. No one should be surprised that either of these teams pulled it out with 5 seconds to go. It was one-upsmanship throughout the whole game.
- Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -2/+10Though I'm Canadian, Sweden says hi with the #2 ranked junior team and the current defenders of Olympic gold.
- Metahero, on 01/04/2009, -0/+8This was an amazing game to watch. Canada-Russia games are always a real treat... today was a great day for hockey. Good on Eberle too- I'm really glad my hometown team drafted him.
- creepnitreal420, on 01/04/2009, -0/+8No one cares about Juniors? This tournament is a showcase of upcoming talent in hockey, a little sneak peak of whats to come in the NHL. That's pretty much like saying no one cares about college football because the players aren't in the NFL yet.
- theOguy, on 01/04/2009, -0/+8Believe it.... it does that when your alive.
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -0/+8Canadians may go a bit nuts for this tourny but when its in Europe the host nation is always well represented. Last year's Czech Republic crowd was awesome! The world DOES care... man I feel bad for your parents seeing their child turn into such an asshat with no pride.
- stuffblock, on 01/04/2009, -1/+9Its no miracle when CANADA wins a hockey game!!
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -0/+7Canada's going to take it!
- cquilliam, on 01/04/2009, -0/+7If you have access to http://watch.tsn.ca you can go to the Video Library section, and choose 2009 World Jr. Championship On-Demand and you can watch the entire game online. I think almost all the games that are aired are posted here.
- FordeX, on 01/04/2009, -1/+8Russia says hi back and bitch-slaps Sweden.
Russian / Soviet gold medals in the world junior championships: 11 (including back to backs in 02/03).
Swedish Golds: 1 in 1981
Russian / Soviet Golds in the olympics: 7
Swedish Gold: 2 (Although its 2 out of the last 4)
The Swedes are certainly good and have a great chance of winning on monday as well as defending their gold in 2010 but they are not on the same level as Russia / Canada. Close but not quite. - jakethelake, on 01/04/2009, -0/+7This was such an amazing game. One for the history books indeed.
- Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6Here ya go, I uploaded it for you. If anyone wants anything from the game, put it in here and I'll get them in the morning.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhsNmee6qnI - Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7I inject bacon into my veins. Next question?
- Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -2/+8You're not really Canadian, GTFO
- royalboyle, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6The US is definitely not a hockey country. NHL viewership has plummeted in the past 10 years and with the rising Latino demographic, I wouldn't be surprised to see soccer overtake hockey in popularity.
- Schmidtopolis, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7I'd rather see two Hockey countries playing.
- Rikushix, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6It's a good season next year overall for Canadian draft picks: you guys have Eberle, we (the Canucks) have Cody Hodgson....
And whoever gets Tavares will be very lucky indeed. - JulyZerg, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6What a exciting game! It truly was an amazing comeback.
- kinseyincanada, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6man this tournament has been amazing the American game was brilliant and tonights was even better, cant wait for monday.
- ScientistBlah, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7One more to make it five straight.
- Jeffler, on 01/04/2009, -0/+6Excuse me for not being completely expectant we'd tie the game with 5.4 seconds left even though we were being outplayed for most of the game.
- WhoDoneIt, on 01/04/2009, -1/+6You could have also misspelled "sport" by forgetting the "p" and still have it correct.
- Seaseme, on 01/04/2009, -0/+5that was one of the best games of hockey i've ever seen. Also, why didn't russia play their best damn player in the shootout? What a dumb move.
