It's when you're pressed against the boards, digging at the puck, when you get crunched. In that position, you get hit and your body has no where to go, except absorb the impact like an accordion.

- Snoosy, on 10/31/2008, -1/+2Sounds like you've never played much rough hockey. The ones where you're right against the boards hurt the least. Open ice ones don't hurt but there's a good chance you'll be dazed or lose your breath if you're hit hard enough. The absolute worst ones are when you're 2-3 feet from the boards and you get hit and fall into them. That's the quickest way to break a collar bone or dislocate a shoulder.
