- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -2/+67How is that even possible... where is the mercy rule
- BinaryDelt, on 09/09/2008, -3/+48Bulgaria didn't even have a shot on goal. NOT ONE.
- Gunsotsu, on 09/09/2008, -1/+46Bulgaria should've quacked and skated in a "V."
- GhandicapXRS, on 09/09/2008, -1/+41Holy *****! They coul'dve just duck-taped old news papers onto Nicole Ritchie and tell her to stay put and it would've been a more effective goal tender.
- ironeus, on 09/09/2008, -2/+38Did they even have a goalie in play?
- ostracize, on 09/09/2008, -3/+37US and Canada appreciate sportsmanship. They'd run it up to 10-0 and then cruise the rest of the game.
- Theisos, on 09/09/2008, -1/+35Flawless Victory!
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -1/+34Suicide watch for the goalie?
- tragik, on 09/09/2008, -0/+33footage of this game would make a great drinking game.
- hamobu, on 09/09/2008, -3/+23Bulgarian team was humiliated, but they learned valuable lessons from this:
1. Learn how to skate.
2. People in different color uniforms play for the other team
3. Shooting into your own goal is not the same as shooting into an opponents goal.
4. Your team is supposed to have a goalie too, not just the other team.
5. Don't give your opponent a puck just because they say "please"
etc. - bstew22, on 09/09/2008, -1/+21it must have been goldberg from the first movie... pre-flying v.
- sizzzzlerz, on 09/09/2008, -0/+21I guess Slovakia just must of wanted it more.
- RobertShellson, on 09/09/2008, -0/+19I agree...in the article it said they scored once every 44 seconds! They also outshot them 139-0! I can only imagine what the US or Canada would do to them...ouch.
- chanop, on 09/09/2008, -0/+18I think most Ice Hockey uses Ice Skaters to play
- jun2san, on 09/09/2008, -1/+18WTF? Did they assemble Bulgaria's team the day of?
"Excuse me ma'am. Do you know how to play ice hockey? No? Well, would you like to play? Oh good. You've got a game in 1 hour. Gear up!" - 1337Einstein, on 09/09/2008, -0/+16Neither did your hockey team.
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -1/+16I really need to see this game.
Was the goalie made of Jello? - skydharma, on 09/09/2008, -0/+13I'm betting the Bulgarian team didn't know that.
- onlines, on 09/09/2008, -2/+15I'd love to see pictures of the crowd's reaction. Probably started off normally, then the faces of people probably morphed to those that just witnessed a rape scene or a murder.
- edge777, on 09/09/2008, -0/+11Please, someone, do you have video of this game???!!!!!
- SeventhSon, on 09/09/2008, -1/+12Hockey has periods, not quarters, doofus.
- vbullinger, on 09/09/2008, -0/+11Slovakia's pretty good. How many people from the NHL are from Slovakia and/or the Czech Republic? A LOT.
- BuddingMonkey, on 09/09/2008, -0/+11Also, they should have used the "Knuckle Puck"
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -6/+16This sounds like a betting scam to me. There have been many instances in Eastern Europe where strange scores in relatively obscure sports have been discovered to be fraudulent, betting syndicates bribe the players while putting huge sums on ridiculous point spreads (costs ***** all to bribe them over there especially in a sport like hockey). This kind of thing happens every week over there with football (soccer).
So they averaged over a goal a minute? Think about it guys, seriously. Even if they were retarded and blind they could do better than that if they tried. - tonich03, on 09/09/2008, -1/+10I'm Bulgarian. Not the best article to say it, though? So..I didn't know we had a hockey team?
- GhandicapXRS, on 09/09/2008, -0/+9No not really, it was actually really well thought out :-) Let me explain:
You see, "back in da hood" when my grandpa was young, they didn't have money to buy things like goalie pads, so they'd tape old newspapers and phone books to their shins and and limbs for protection. Not very effective at protecting or stopping solid pucks of vulcanized rubber and the occasional frozen dog turd.
Nicole Ritchie, being a brittle skeleton (kids, cocaine is not a suitable substitute for calcium) is the last person you'd want in the nets.
Put these two together and you have a goalie that isn't worth a popcorn fart in a whirlwind. - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -0/+9Dude, even a piece of cardboard standing in front of the goal would have stopped more pucks than that.
- gilbert42989, on 09/09/2008, -1/+10dugg for sportsmanship
- twoboxen, on 09/09/2008, -0/+8I'm sure there was a "goalie" standing there... but did she "play"? No. Not a bit.
- OdinTGE, on 09/09/2008, -0/+8Most likely run it up to 15-20 then wait for it to end.
- dreimanis, on 09/09/2008, -0/+8not the record one, but a game from the same tournament latvia vs. bulgaria - 39:0
you can see how slow they play, almost like sleepwalking
link to video : http://esports.lv/hokejs/video/07092008_2257_krist ... - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -0/+8Did someone Invent a Puck Magnet and put it in Bulgaria's goal
- OfNumbers, on 09/09/2008, -3/+10Shamed like the Raiders last night.
- SeventhSon, on 09/09/2008, -0/+7Not even 5 seconds. I play goalie, and most whistles come easily within 1 second, with the longest delay of about 2.
- LeonHRodriguez, on 09/09/2008, -0/+7Everyone would die of alcohol poisoning twice before the start of the third period
- Zippo, on 09/09/2008, -0/+6Kinda reminds me of women's ice hockey at the 2006 Winter Olympics
Canada 16 - 0 Italy
Canada 12 - 0 Russia
Canada 11 - 0 Sweden - Zidul, on 09/09/2008, -0/+6I'm Bulgarian (living in Canada now), and i never even touched a hockey stick until a few years ago..
that being said, i still call BS. there's a lot of corruption and bribing that goes on there, and its true, a lot of sporting events are totally rigged.....
the worst part is, my ex is Slovakian, and i cant wait to hear what that bitch has to say about this.. - justice7, on 09/09/2008, -1/+7likely put the score up to 10-0 and do nothing else all game... its called sportsmanship
- thaglove10, on 09/09/2008, -0/+6The best two women's teams in the world.
- vbullinger, on 09/09/2008, -2/+8I've never played organized hockey in my life. But I guarantee that if me and five random, fellow Minnesotans I found walking the street (ok, fine, I'll pick up some girls to play with me) went on the ice, we would fair better than them.
Don't you think the goalie might try to like, hold onto the puck or something? Stop the bleeding? Just block one shot and hold onto the puck for as long as possible? - Philoushka, on 09/09/2008, -4/+10must 'have'.
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/09/2008, -0/+6awwww now thats just sad. i do feel bad for Bulgaria, but seriously, before you put a team out there they should at least be competitive. Boo on Slovakia for poor sportsmanship and continuing the onslaught. Because 20 or 30 goals wasn't enough. I'm usually not one for mercy rules, but Olympic competition should be held to the highest standards of sportsmanship.
- Solstice, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5I totally used to do this on NHLPA '93 on my SNES. Going down the screen and performing a wraparound goal was completely undefendable by both human and computer goalies.
- Zippo, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6Actually, the Canadian women's olympic team went above and beyond 10-0 three times in the 2006 Olympics.
Canada 16 - 0 Italy
Canada 12 - 0 Russia
Canada 11 - 0 Sweden
At the Olympics, no less. Destroyed. - sndream, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6They obviously didn't know what's Hockey really about, I don't know how did they find the time to lose 82 goals with all the fist fight taking place.
- num3thod, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6They must've forgot to take their stake guards off.
- WalkerTXclocker, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5I don't know, I'm thinking Jello just might have been more effective. It sure couldn't do any worse.
- TJMcWhiskers, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6It's not basketball, moron.
- gametavern, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5next time, hopefully they'll bring hockey sticks.
- myempyrean, on 09/09/2008, -5/+10I wonder how the Canadian woman's team would've done?
