- kezia1, on 12/17/2008, -5/+28While I'm pleased to see NHL on the front page, I'm disheartened that it keeps being news about Douchebag Avery. Stop talking about him. Talk about hockey.
- Boing, on 12/17/2008, -1/+20The dude's a douchebag... but he did get to bang Cuthbert
- CityzenInsane, on 12/17/2008, -2/+15Sean Avery is prick. I don't see why anyone would want him on their team.
- MisterEX, on 12/17/2008, -0/+10This prima-donna douchebaggery has no place in the NHL.
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+7I dropped him from my fantasy hockey team. Just doin my part ;-)
- Morphinity, on 12/17/2008, -0/+6They're blaming Avery to mask their own shortcomings. Regardless of what anyone says, Turco has been abysmal this season and so has the defense in front of him. Not to mention their offense has not been able to get anything going for long periods of time. Avery is just the scapegoat for their bigger problems.
- drhouse, on 12/17/2008, -0/+6Dallas is still paying his salary, that's pretty classy in my book
- serif69, on 12/17/2008, -2/+7You know you're in a sad state of affairs when you have to look to a lowlife like Avery to try to motivate the team.
- DrVic, on 12/17/2008, -0/+5It could have been worse, he could have called that woman a "cum dumpster" or something like that.
- badqat, on 12/17/2008, -5/+10Stay classy, Dallas!
- Jvskill, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4RTFA It is mostly about The Stars' terrible first half of the season instead of Sean Avery, he's actually more of an afterthought.
- Vesuvias, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3I will agree with the NHL being greater than the NFL statement... but damn, honestly Texas does not blow sir... in fact Dallas is a pretty awesome city... that is all.
- ngmcs8203, on 12/17/2008, -1/+4Jeremy Roenick?
- Firebird2k6, on 12/17/2008, -4/+7The won the cup a few years ago, moron.
- ngmcs8203, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3Who wants him? Tampa? Nobody that can afford him would want the cancer that is Avery. If he was a true enforcer in today's league (Shelley, Parros, Brashear) he would have a place, but he's just as bad as that pussy Ott.
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -4/+7I can haz a Cuthbert tu?
- fejjfunklamella, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3If Gary Bettman would eliminate the instigator rule, fools like Avery and Steve Ott would be instantly out of a job. It's one thing to stir the pot and see what cooks later, but to stir it up and turtle?
Good bye and good riddance, Sean. Instead of studying the Vince McMahon playbook, he should have studied Claude Lemieux's/Ken Linseman's a little harder. - AdamaObama, on 12/17/2008, -13/+15Hockey is far superior to NFL these days. The fan base may not be as big, but as a sport it's much better and more exciting to watch.
The Stars blow. Any team from Texas blows. We should just let Texas leave the Union, then we could take it over and get rid of all their ***** teams. - LeonHRodriguez, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Some girls like douchebags...you've never met any of them?
- Firebird2k6, on 12/17/2008, -2/+4Without Morrow, Dallas has 0 chance.
Should just go into sell mode and pick up some prospects. - Turbojugend27, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2I am actually more sick about the whole Sundin situation than Avery. Love him or hate him, he got more coverage for the game with those classy words than Bettman has his entire tenureship as Commissioner.
He probably was a cancer in the dressing room, but Dallas needs to grow up, you can blame him for your troubles, but he is now gone, so what seems to be the problem now? - jba68, on 12/17/2008, -1/+3you sir are a Douche bag of the highest Phelpian order.
have you ever even been to Texas? How bout trying it out before hating on it.
What sense would it make to let someone leave the union, then invade them? The Us apparentley invades so well these days... - TheManikin, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2So let me get this straight.....
You are an Muslim Irishman who doesn't curse? - Cerialthriller, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2there is more to it then that. he had been warned formally more then 5 times to cut his ***** to media by the league commissioner and he kept thinking he would get away with it, well he didnt this time. And the Stars were looking to unload him onto an AHL team to get him to try to break his contract before this particular incident happened, but none of the AHL teams the Stars are affiliated with would take him for free. Since they are kind of stuck with him for 4 years unless he breaks contract or the Stars buyout his contract.
- Narcism, on 12/17/2008, -1/+3badwithcomputer
- dobbmcrowell, on 12/17/2008, -2/+4Am I the only one who loves Sean Avery? The guy's ***** hilarious. Hockey needs more personality. Crosby is amazing but has he ever said anything that makes national sports news? Someone's gotta bring attention to hockey.
- JRSU1, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2I still don't see why what he said was so bad. I mean "sloppy seconds", since when was that so serious. He may be a prick but he has solid taste in females. Elisha Cuthbert...I'd hit it.
Wouldn't quit it tho. - MSstar, on 12/17/2008, -1/+3what?
- marcduke, on 12/17/2008, -1/+3Sure, let's blame him too!
He's an f'ing putz. - inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Dugg down because Bush is a Connecticut yankee carpetbagger. Real Texans don't claim that bastard.
- mattdiggsit, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Avery looks like a K-Fed wannabee with those big stupid sunglasses. GO STARS!
- Cerialthriller, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1what?!? football is one of the most boring sports next to baseball. I mean seriously, do they really need to stop for 45 seconds ever 5 seconds to explain to each player what it is they are supposed to do this time. stop blowing the whistle and let them play FFS
- masterwit, on 12/17/2008, -2/+3Not just a hockey team, ice! (and people who know what to do with it)
- HentaiJeff, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1you would have loved just after he was signed, they brought him into the Texas Rangers press box and interviewed him, so much irony it was nuts.
- d3matt, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1and what a disappointment it's been after last season
- HentaiJeff, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1then take the sports cat out of your digg, not too hard to do
- diemunkiesdie, on 12/18/2008, -0/+1Are you serious? Soccer is waaaaaaay slower than Football. Stuff actually happens; there's excitement instead of waiting 20 minutes for someone to try and score a goal or seeing someone lie down on the ground pretending to get hurt so they get a free kick. Football is the best!
- crowbar77, on 12/18/2008, -1/+2Actually the real football would be, it by far has the biggest following. Personally I can't stand american football, way to slow of a game.
- bmhumdal, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1Avery may be a douche but there is still a place for the "pest" type. Mathew Barnaby is an example. When done right, you get the other team off their game, and thinking about you instead of what they should be doing. If I was GM i would take Avery in a heartbeat and give him a very specific role to play.
- marcduke, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1Actually, outside of the last half of the last season, Turco has been abysmal for a while.
Oh look at that, the Wings just scored on Turco again! - pinchduck, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1I think you are forgetting the most amazing trade in history. Remember how the Stars got to Dallas? The Cowboys traded Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings for the NorthStars. The whole team. Lock, stock & barrel. That is what I call a savvy trade. Until you can top that, Texas stays in the union. As an aside, though, I'll never, ever vote for a Texan for President. What to Texan Presidents have in common? *****, stupid wars and economic collapse.
- marcduke, on 12/17/2008, -1/+2Be gone, *****, this topic is for grownups.
- CityzenInsane, on 12/17/2008, -1/+2If Dallas stays in that point standing, they are in for the John Tavares sweepstakes, so that's not necessarily a bad thing. Or they could go after Victor Hedman to strengthen their defense once Zubov retires.
- dobbmcrowell, on 12/17/2008, -1/+2Look at the Rangers record last year with and without Avery in the lineup. Pricks have been an important part of hockey since the game began.
- ArthasMenethil, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1I liked Avery much better when he was on the Rangers, but he definitely is a douchebag.
- LeonHRodriguez, on 12/17/2008, -1/+1bandwithcomputer, for those of you who don't know, submits more stories than any other digger.
Not just on hockey either, but on every random subject you can think of. - geesamba, on 12/17/2008, -2/+2So, the article mentions Wayne Gretzky as the coach of Phoenix. There is a link to his player profile:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?play ...
And no picture...
Seriously? They don't have a picture of the Great One? This is ESPN for crying out loud! - dobbmcrowell, on 12/17/2008, -1/+1If Bettman thinks the term "sloppy seconds" is "offensive and disgusting" he should put himself in Roger Goodell's shoes. When Pacman Jones makes it rain on someone and Larry Johnson spits a drink in a woman's face, it makes the term sloppy seconds look pretty tame.
- Vesuvias, on 12/17/2008, -1/+1rAmen to that .... so sick of this crap with Avery... he is a huge turd sandwhich and douche all wrapped up in one thuggish package...
- diemunkiesdie, on 12/17/2008, -1/+1Sorry, but the Patriots are America's team. It's in their name and they wear Red, White, and Blue. What colors do the Cowboys wear? Blue and White. That means they are Israel's team, not Americas!
