- matthughes, on 05/06/2008, -4/+2don't worry, zombie. your comment will be dug down, being that it supports something, anything from dallas.
- Digger1123, on 05/06/2008, -1/+3After my Avs got annihilated, I am pulling for the Stars.
- whitezombie420, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1wow, dugg down for cheering on the stars, lots of sharks fans here or what?
- Jeffler, on 05/06/2008, -1/+59Great game! It had two of the greatest saves I've ever seen and the hit of the year too!
Vids of them actually
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13FnJwlUCcg Best save I've ever seen watching live
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sod125xJERI Hit of the year
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spM4uUUW3-U The other amazing save- Worldchrisis, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5Easily the save of the season from Nabokov.
- ngmcs8203, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3A good hit, but not hit of the year. Definitely hit of the series though. Both goalies were standing on their heads last night, but that Naby save was absolutely beautiful. Almost as great as his highway robbery of Nolan in the first round.
- ProfessionalBum, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3I agree, personally I think this one is better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2rvOQHSXKU&feature ...
But maybe I'm just a fiend for blood. - goonbaggins, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5While I'm not going to argue for hit of the year, I want to say that one of the things that made it great was how smart it was. The fact that Morrow took out one of the Sharks top offensive threats right before OT may have completely changed the outcome. It's not good to see a player injured, but putting a monster clean hit on one of their best players also pumped up the Stars after they had a relatively weak 3rd period.
- ProfessionalBum, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3I agree, personally I think this one is better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2rvOQHSXKU&feature ...
- Digger1123, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1Not even close to save of the year. Probably not even save of the playoffs. Theodore has had some saves like this.
Good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0Y3adMP3zk
He had basically a carbon copy of this save against the Stars towards the end of the regular season.
- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -2/+13Great game!
Ron Wilson must go. He's always saying you can't rush to The Cup; The Cup will come when you are ready. "It's like baking a cake, it's ready when it's done." Well RW bakes collapsing souffles, not cakes.
The Sharks need a first rate goal scorer ala Iginla, or they will never advance to the Stanley Cup finals. Cheechoo, gritty though he is, was a one-hit wonder. Marleau is a magician; he's great at making himself disappear.- madcat033, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Cheechoo was just the benificiary of Joe Thornton's assists, really. Without someone to set him up, he's an average player at best.
- santaliqueur, on 05/06/2008, -1/+2Ron Wilson is the most overrated coach in recent memory.
- ngmcs8203, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1Who do you replace RW with? He saved the series by coaching the ***** out of the team in games 4-6 of this Dallas series.
- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1I can think of at least four Stanley Cup-winning coaches on the sidelines. Pat Burns, Pat Quinn, Bob Hartley, and Scotty Bowman. Of those, I think Burns would be itching for another shot now that he's cured.
- strikerK, on 05/06/2008, -5/+15great game, goal tending was amazing. such a good series too
too bad the stars wont have a chance against the redwings- harryterry, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1well said....

but i still love you sharkies. just dont do it again next time please.- sidewinderaim9x, on 05/06/2008, -0/+8Finally a Sharks fan! Yes, there's still next year =)
- cheeseisnogood, on 05/06/2008, -3/+6As a Stars fan i know how you feel. Its been like that for too. Sorry to have kicked out your team but, over all it was a great game....GO STARS!
- ngmcs8203, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2It was a great game. It's too bad the Sharks ended up giving away Game 2. I don't know if this series was a lack of scoring as much as it was a pretty damn good goal tending duel. Much like the Stars/Canucks series of last year.
- 8ight, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Sharks fan here too. Same ***** as always. Great hockey team they've assembled. I'm going to miss Campbell.

- Brak710101, on 05/06/2008, -2/+19I don't understand how you can't at least LIKE hockey. It has to be the most interesting and entertaining sports to watch and play. It has the hitting of football, the game play of soccer, the end-to-end of basketball, and high speed objects like baseball.
Or you might be one of those people who claim it's to hard to follow the puck. That's pretty much like calling yourself retarded, it's not hard at all.

- pp7k, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1As a Sens fan, and a Spezza fan, let me just say...Done and DONE! I'd miss Spezz. but damn it'd be great to have no goaltending questions.

- SRSco, on 05/06/2008, -17/+1I've heard of the Mavericks and the Cowboys...but the Stars? What's that?
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7You should try going to a stars game. Only then will you realize what you have missed!
- MDHerring, on 05/06/2008, -4/+0you've heard of the two teams that are great at choking when it comes time to perform.
Shark meat is tasty, and goes down easy, too. - pp7k, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Safari? What's that?
Relevance? This guy mentioned in an earlier thread that comments were not fixed in Safari. But hardly anyone uses Safari, so who cares, right?!?!
- DiscoRage, on 05/06/2008, -7/+38Holy 24 hours ago. I hate the hockey coverage on digg. Every god damn sport on the planet gets coverage, but when it comes to hockey, NHL or otherwise, an article is lucky to get 10 diggs. How is it that Canada's 7-0 blowout against Latvia last night wasn't a popular sports article? Pathetic.
- Chainheart, on 05/06/2008, -2/+7I don't have a problem with it as long as its not golf or NASCAR
- DiscoRage, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Golf and NASCAR get more coverage on digg than the NHL. I remember when the Ducks won the cup last year, someone posted an article. It received just over 1000 diggs - and it was the ONLY post about it. Seems kind of pathetic for one of the most physically grueling sports in the world, in a contest for what is often considered the hardest fought over trophy in all of sports, worldwide, gets no coverage on a site like this.
- threemagic, on 05/06/2008, -1/+4I don't dislike hockey. I live in Michigan.. we have hockeytown (GO REDWINGS!!!). You make it sound like hockey is this huge spectacle.. it's just this side of NASCAR on why SOME people watch (crashes vs fights), not all.. I understand there are real fans... it's just not. My opinion of the sport doesn't matter, I'm just saying. One thing that SHOULD get spoken about is that hockey remains a very clean sport, not as many drug or criminal activities in it.
- novenator, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1I usually go straight to the sports section and dig everything down thats not hockey or tennis. WAAY to much basketball (thank the gods that crappy march ***** is finally over), golf, and football

- crowbar77, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Rolling over Latvia isn't much of an accomplishment, it could have been 12-0 had they not let up. I have actually seen quite a bit of coverage on hockey lately on digg, it along with Basketball seem to be the only sports that make it to the front page.
- Ford_Prefect2nd, on 05/06/2008, -1/+6Because Canada beating Latvia is not news, its a matter of course. But I do agree, hockey is the greatest sport, fast and more scoreing the soccer, but not so much scoring that its uninteresting either, there should be more hockey on Digg.
- Laiden, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1If Canada lost, the riots would have been news.
- Jeffler, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1I'm a hockey fan and I submit a ton of the semi-popular hockey articles on digg, but Canada beating Latvia by 7 wasn't a shock, it was an inevitability.
- pp7k, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1You come to Digg for hockey coverage? Seriously? It's niche sport. Less fans=less interest=less diggs/articles.
That's kind of like trying to stay current on Toronto municipal politics by reading the LA Times.
Canada/Latvia is not news unless the goal differential is less than 5. The only real news so far is Heatley, now all time points leader and soon to be all time goals leader for Canada at the Men's international level. Heatley-Getlaf-Nash...could be one of the greatest lines Canada has ever put out. Only the Russians even stand a chance.
- Chainheart, on 05/06/2008, -2/+7I don't have a problem with it as long as its not golf or NASCAR
- madcat033, on 05/06/2008, -10/+4Go PENGUINS!
- geneticlone, on 05/06/2008, -0/+10I still love my sharks even if they lost :) I will see you guys next season at the opening game.
- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1You should demand more for your money. Instead of signing a goal scorer, they offer you a new logo, new jerseys, caps, and toys to buy. They raise your ticket prices and your parking fees. What do they do with all the fannies through-the-turnstiles profits? Do they sign a goal scorer to get the team to the next level? No, they enjoy the profitable spectacle of 13 million dollars below the salary cap. They are Scrooges, and you are just encouraging them.
- geneticlone, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Or you can just not buy that stuff, I know I personally don't :D

- Zanarkand, on 05/06/2008, -4/+3Being a diehard Flyers fan 4OTs aint nothing :D
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -0/+6Ok? It was the eighth longest game in NHL history, and i KNOW the Flyers were not in all of the other 7........So your saying you see past 4OT's on a regular basis as a Flyers fan?
- santaliqueur, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7Give him a break. As a Flyers fan, it's all he has to talk about.
- TheTOH, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Yeah, not like his team is making an unexpected run to the conference finals or anything...
- Jeffler, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Yeah, not like the flyers didn't face a team that got in on the last day and an inexperienced team with a rookie goalie.
/cheeringfortheflyersatm - SPRFRKR, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1After the Flyers win the Cup in a few weeks, they will have completed the greatest one-year turnaround in sports history!

- wraptor347, on 05/06/2008, -0/+8This was one of the most entertaining games I've ever watched. Too bad it had to end in heartbreak... : (
- ngmcs8203, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7Sharks fan here... It was only a heartbreak because one team had to lose. Both teams deserved to win the game. Such a classic.
- SupaDawg, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2agree 100%. If Dallas would have lost I would still have loved the game. That's hockey at its very finest right there. A game for everyone's memory.
- pp7k, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Goaltending at it's best. Everyone knows Nabokov is great, but I'm glad to see Turco finally getting some respect. While he's had his troubles, he's taken too much blame for teams collapsing in front of him. Three shutouts against Vancouver last year and they still somehow lose the series!
- SupaDawg, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2agree 100%. If Dallas would have lost I would still have loved the game. That's hockey at its very finest right there. A game for everyone's memory.

- jmask5, on 05/06/2008, -0/+16I think yesterday was a great example of how Goals don't make the game exciting but Chances do. Having said that I'm sure it was more exciting for me since I don't care about either team but just wanted to see some good hockey and I got that yesterday.
- nycmac247, on 05/06/2008, -14/+1LOL - people still watch team sports?!?!?!
"Bread and circuses" while empires fall...
hahahahha- PullingTeeth, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Then what are you doing on Digg, posting comments on a team sports article?
- pp7k, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Ouch! Your disdain cuts me like a knife! All this time I've wasted watching hockey :(
We are fools indeed. If only we were so wise as to troll comment pages of topics we don't like and chastise the commenters for wasting their time on petty diversions...now that is a worthy calling.
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -0/+10I think this game was a prime example of why the referees should put away their whistles in the playoffs. Those of you who watched it know what I'm talking about. The referees called only a couple of penalties from the 3rd-7th periods (which is longer than one full game I might add) and it turned out to be an awesome, emotional game.
Who else thinks we should get rid of Bettman?- DiscoRage, on 05/06/2008, -2/+0You mean longer than two full games, right?
- axis, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Too bad the penalty they DID call actually had an outcome on the game. I agree that penalties need to be called in a situation where it can effect a scoring chance, but that call last night did not. Then again, the Sharks couldn't score in a whore house, they choked, as usual. How many grade A++++ chances did they need?
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -1/+3Well at least they evened them out. Sharks had one opportunity earlier in overtime, just didn't capitalize. Would you be saying the same if the Sharks scored on their powerplay in overtime?
- ngmcs8203, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Referees should not put away their whistles. If there are rules in place, they should be enforced. I enjoyed the wide open hockey just as much as everyone else, but if teams think that can get away with anything since it's the playoffs, then it would just turn in to goonary.
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Call me old school but I enjoy a lot of physical play in hockey. Some of these new penalties that the refs are calling constantly pisses me off a lot. They called two penalties the entire overtime period, and evened it out. Sharks didn't score on theirs, Stars did. I agree that they should call the really flagrant stuff, but for christ's sake...let the guys decide the game...not the refs.
- mrhedges, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2The reffing has been inconsistent for most of the playoffs. Disallowed goals, missed high-sticks, diving, hooking, etc etc. I'm pretty dissapointed, since the refs had a HUGE impact on many teams, on questionable calls.
- shawnanigans, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4I vote for get rid of Bettman. Find a way to make Scotty Bowman immortal and have him run the NHL.
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1In a perfect world......
- SuperMoses, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1At the same time they have to call the clutching and grabbing that went on in the old NHL. Anyone who watched the NHL in the late 90s and early 2000s cannot say those were exciting times.
- concretewave, on 05/06/2008, -14/+1Why the hell is this on the front page of Digg?
Yeah it was a great game....but I could pick out probably 3 other games this playoffs that were just as intense, even if they didn't last 4 OT- jaybol, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5we can safely assume that you submitted those stories before complaining about this one right...oh wait...
- threemagic, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2you answered your own question..
- RSS14, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7That game was epic!
- MDHerring, on 05/06/2008, -0/+14The crowd was insane...
Best hockey game I've ever attended. I'm amazed I had a voice this morning!- threemagic, on 05/06/2008, -1/+5You are probably a bigger hockey fan then I am but I dugg you up anyway. Nothing like a game like this LIVE! I'm jealous
- harryterry, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2if you still have your voice then you weren't screaming loud enough.
- PullingTeeth, on 05/06/2008, -0/+27Dugg for Nabokov's ridiculous glove save in the first overtime
- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Who's your Nabby?
- matthughes, on 05/06/2008, -2/+7that hit that morrow laid at the end of regulation was sick
- crowbar77, on 05/06/2008, -1/+1He's turning into Iginla, only not quite as skilled. Still awesome to watch though.
- christof53, on 05/06/2008, -10/+7I wanted the Sharks to win, I hate the Dallas Stars. Boo Stars!
- Pillard, on 05/06/2008, -0/+8The game was epic. I said on the way to the arena, jokingly, that I wish it would go into triple OT. Got more than I bargained for. Had to plead with the parents to allow my friends and I to stay at the game when it went to OT, but it all worked out. We were partying it up in the top row of the nosebleed. Ended up being in the 10th row from the glass when they won it, and it was pure pandemonium.
Easily the greatest sporting event I've ever witnessed. It was an amazing thing to be a part of.
... and now I'm stuck writing a semester paper on four hours of sleep. Worth it, though.- MDHerring, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Dugg for being another die-hard stars fan at the game, sacrificing sleep to witness one of the greatest sporting events ever!
- GregFD3S, on 05/06/2008, -3/+4Sharks Blew It!!!
- santaliqueur, on 05/06/2008, -4/+2What do you expect from a team that signs Jeremy Roenick?
- GregFD3S, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Blasphemy!!
- santaliqueur, on 05/06/2008, -4/+1He's an embarrassment to the hockey world. Even though he scored a few goals this year, this fossil should retire.
- SupaDawg, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Hey hey now. Go easy on JR. This was obviously the guys last kick at the can. That said, he was one of the top 3 sharks on the ice all series... he played harder than guys 10 years younger. As a Stars fan, he scared me in this series... his intensity level was WAY up.
- GregFD3S, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2Blasphemy!!
- Dmarzio, on 05/06/2008, -2/+1can i give you 100 diggs somehow? Sorry but I can't stand that guy. Oh and Pronger too!
- santaliqueur, on 05/06/2008, -4/+2What do you expect from a team that signs Jeremy Roenick?
- kcapxis, on 05/06/2008, -0/+10Last night's was hands-down the best game I've ever been to in my life. My wife said after every OT that we had to leave after the next one, but we hung on until the glorious end. It was my brother's first game, and we splurged on killer seats. Worth every penny, and then some. Both goaltenders were on fire! No voice today...
- Funpolice2050, on 05/06/2008, -10/+2Go Leafs Go!
- Jeffler, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Buried for cheering for a team with little to no future on the ice, a bunch of corperate suits running hockey operations, and no signs of any change due to homer fans.
(Btw, I'm a Leafs fan, I've just given up blind hope)

- Ford_Prefect2nd, on 05/06/2008, -2/+1Montreal, would have won to if it wasn't for that dam kid... Price may be a super star one day, but he should have been out after the 3rd goal, or not in at all.
- patforget, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1it's still hurting trust me.
- petervenkman, on 05/06/2008, -2/+34And this is why it's the greatest sport ever.
- dwninjungleland, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2UGH. We didn't the channel on my campus, so I had to settle for getting sporadic online updates. Worst way to watch the most exciting game of the year ever.

Turco PWNS!- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1You should be grounded for staying up so late after your bedtime, kid.
- DavidTTT, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Lmao Kid? ok there
- Happy_Phantom, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1You should be grounded for staying up so late after your bedtime, kid.
- Coltb, on 05/06/2008, -2/+4Shows you how driven that team is to get the opportunity to lose to the wings
- diggerpleez, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4I took an accidental catnap during the 1st OT. Woke up just before the 2nd and had no idea I had 3 periods of hockey ahead of me! It was *so* worth staying up for. Both teams completely deserved not too lose last night - complete and total athleticism to play that hard that long, and I have never seen such consistently bad ass goal tending on both ends. With the way that Morrow played the entire series, he certainly earned that last goal that sent the sharks packing.
- EKinnee, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1I fell asleep half way into the first OT too. I woke up later thinking I had been asleep for a few hours and went to shut the TV off and then noticed they were STILL playing and were half way into the 3rd OT.
- crowbar77, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Only half the overtimes that AHL game went into, 8 i think it was. Still was the best game I had seen in a while, cant wait for the conference finals. Pitt and Philly is going to be intense.
- fliped, on 05/06/2008, -9/+2Go Habs Go...
- evolu7ion, on 05/12/2008, -0/+8One of the best games I've EVER watched. Nabokov and Turco huggin it out at the end was awesome they both put on a hell of a clinic last night. Great game. I like the stars, but us Oilers fans can never cheer for them...

- jomomomo, on 05/06/2008, -1/+0Yum yum Turco. Can't wait to see what the Wings do to ya.
- Maevirko69, on 05/06/2008, -10/+1Who cares about hockey? The NBA playoffs are on!
- Lososaurus, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7Go ***** yourself and watch your sport of diving cowards.
- Lososaurus, on 05/06/2008, -3/+1Go Norstrom!
- basher88, on 05/06/2008, -2/+4The Stars are going all the way this year!
- diggerpleez, on 05/06/2008, -1/+3As much as I would like that to be true, there is a big scary red thing right in the middle of the road just ahead of us! If we can find our way around that, consider it done.
- BigTuna, on 05/06/2008, -1/+0Haha exactly. The road to the Cup runs through Detroit. Wings in 5.

- tgulden, on 05/06/2008, -1/+6Hell yeah! All thanks to fantastic coaching by my uncle Dave [Tippett]. Yes, he's my uncle. I have pics to prove it. Preemptive STFU...

Seriously though, are you being serious?- tgulden, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Yes, seriously, I felt like a douche name-dropping, but I'm really proud of him. I'm also a Minnesotan, so I'm proud of the team and their legacy. I'm not a huge Wild fan. Northstars all the way! I've ot to dump my mom's camera for pics from last summer. Our families have cabins on the same lake, so we see him about one week a year during the summer, they live in Plano during the winter. But, if you want photographic proof, I should have pics up on the photobucket soon.
- diggerpleez, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5Please tell him that on behalf of Stars fans everywhere, I am glad that he finally got rid of that Village People mustache last year.

But seriously, I haven't followed hockey since the strike. Death blow. - Akraz, on 05/06/2008, -1/+3I called it... I had a really good feeling whoever got a penalty would lose... and it happened.
Go Stars! (Im a leafs fan .. :( )
