- BrandonJM, on 10/27/2009, -0/+42There is no logic in keeping an NHL team in a market where the fans barely give a *****.
- ToddSchishler, on 10/27/2009, -1/+31There is a simple reason Hamilton did not get an NHL team.
Toronto would want one too. - BillyB, on 10/27/2009, -0/+26A hockey team in the middle of the desert.... hmm what could go wrong?
- Aroundtown27, on 10/27/2009, -1/+21Or put them in Canada...
- ridestp, on 10/27/2009, -1/+21SEND THEM TO CANADA
- Michigan85, on 10/27/2009, -1/+19I'd like to see Winnipeg Jets white outs again.
- SooperSonic, on 10/27/2009, -0/+18If Bettman runs the Coyotes like he's run the NHL, Phoenix will be hockey-free in a few years.
- Sfweb, on 10/27/2009, -0/+17They will be struggling financially again in a couple of years. Gary Bettman's pride is ruining the NHL. Let them go already or better yet, let him go.
- LordByr0n, on 10/27/2009, -2/+16***** the RIAA and Gary Bettman.
- jbrevik, on 10/27/2009, -0/+11I don't think its a problem about the fans not caring, but the location of the arena. Its located on the far west side of Phoenix. While most of the people that can actually afford to go and have season tickets to the Coyotes, live on the east side (Scottsdale, Paradise Valley etc...) And if anyone knows how big metro phoenix really is, they would understand how pointless it is having a hockey team that has its stadium out of reach from people who would actually go.
- LinuxCobra, on 10/27/2009, -0/+10I would rather see another team in Canada where people will actually go and watch. The only thing Gary will do is move the team to another city where this scenario will play out in a few years.
- SooperSonic, on 10/27/2009, -0/+10http://www.instantrimshot.com/
- joeyalfino, on 10/27/2009, -1/+10Move the team to Kansas City and we'll add them to our collection of crappy teams.
Thank you. - str1fe, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7The fans they do have are acting like they really want the team to stay, but so far, their average home attendance is 4,000 fans less than last season.
The Coyotes are actually doing pretty well this year. They can barely even fill the arena half-way. Can't even market a winning team. It's sad. I'm usually not in favor of moving teams, but if this is the best Arizona can do, then this team needs to be put some place where people know what ice looks like. - itc518, on 10/27/2009, -0/+6I agree, there are many other cities around the country that would be a much better fit for an NHL team.
- EndouOuto, on 10/27/2009, -0/+6They already tried that once. Thats how we got the New Jersey Devils.
- FormerBabby, on 10/27/2009, -0/+5This did work for Pittsburgh, however, that is a hockey market.
- blacklilyninja, on 10/27/2009, -1/+5Betman refuses to allow another Canadian franchise. After dozens of interviews the best he can come up with is "Its complicated". The fact is Betman has no good reason. What's the real reason Gary? Oh...and baum is a douchebag. Phoenix does want hockey. Canada does. Start listening to the customers.
- buzaman, on 10/27/2009, -1/+5Congrats Gary Buttman! It was a dark moment, but the Detroit fans gave it to him.

Go Wings! - beervolcano, on 10/27/2009, -1/+5IMO, everything went down hill when they moved to Glendale. The location sucks and there is something wrong with the acoustics of that arena.
Hockey CAN work in Phoenix, but they need to do a better job at marketing and WIN GAMES. - EndouOuto, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3How can we get rid of Bettman?
- beervolcano, on 10/27/2009, -0/+3I absolutely agree! I live in the east valley, and would absolutely get full or partial season tickets if it wasn't such a long drive.
My old boss was a "hockey mom" that got her whole family season tickets every year until the team moved to the west valley. She lives in north Scottsdale, and the drive just became too much of a hassle. - o0FlipZ0o, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2NEWFLASH!!!!
Gary Bettman to feature FULL CONTACT SPEED SKATING at games in Nascar country in an attempt to lure fans. This will be featured during three 20 minute periods, while the NHL players see ice time during the two 15 min intermissions. - Kershek, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2This is the biggest reason. I used to go to games when it was downtown, but the trek to the far west side is just too much and makes for a very late night for the kids.
- spikes, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2The guy above that said Toronto would want a hockey team too if Hamilton got one is not that far off.
MLSE had a huge influence on Bettman's decision to disallow the Coyotes in Canada. Heaven forbid the Maple Leafs franchise have to compete with a real team. - joeyalfino, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2HA! Good point, man. Good point.
- SooperSonic, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2Plus, they can bring back "Brass Bonanza"!

- LordStandley, on 10/27/2009, -1/+3Can Portland a get a damn hockey team already? Send'em our way.
- whoaohh, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2I think we can all agree they've had one hell of a start to the season though. Probably the best time to sell them.
- beervolcano, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2They did a white out for the home opener this year. It was cool at first, but the intermission advertainment sucked ass, and the White Out memory videos they played during breaks just got annoying.
Hopefully making the playoffs this year will bring a proper White Out. - iPirate, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1America?
- harvinator24, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Bring the team to hartford connecticut. They already have two AHL teams in the state plus a bunch of more minor league teams. The market in Connecticut is surprisingly huge, plus Connecticut has not had any major league teams in the state since the Hartford Whalers.
- buzaman, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Youngblood doesn't like the Bombers
- Bizzarn, on 10/27/2009, -2/+3COME ON THUNDER BAY! (Or at least give us an OHL team plz)
- LordByr0n, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1DIAF you spamming SOB
- dlequyer, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1tell him australia would be a good place to have a franchise.
then just hope he is raped to death by koalas. - meeting, on 10/27/2009, -1/+2I would love to see the team move to Canada, but also would love to see hockey survive in Arizona, I see Arizona as a future place of living.
- Skaistrendy, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1how long is a long drive? I'm sorry I am a Rhode Islander and find 20 minutes to be a long drive haha
- Coffeedemon, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1He's probably hoping he'll be gone by then.
- lucidgoo, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1FTA:
"It remains the NHL's intention upon taking control of the club to stabilize the club's operations and, as quickly as possible, to re-sell the club to a new owner who is committed to operating the club in the (Phoenix) market."
What Phoenix market!?!?! - nxusername, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Most people gave up because they figured The Coyotes were leaving anyway.
- str1fe, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Bettman gets booed every time he makes a public appearance. Here's him at the 2007 Entry Draft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSnuyhvcWAQ
- dlequyer, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1it's a shame that now that they are playing well no one is watching.
meanwhile here in southern ontario the leafs have only won once and are selling out.
so which is the stronger market? - lochraven, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Over an hour... From my old house in Queen Creek to the stadium is 53.1 mi, approx. 1hr 40min in traffic according to Google Maps. That's a long drive, even for Phoenix.
Now that I live on the East Coast however, I agree... a 20 min drive seems tedious. - Coffeedemon, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Well now is their chance nxusername... with all of the incentives like food and parking they're practically paying you to see a game.
- ysngroupinc, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1The white out was nice to see again. Winnipeg did a great job with that in playoffs.
- NoamChimpsky, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Even worse, the Coyotes will have a hard time winning new fans, or even entertaining borderline ones with the soul-sucking, hockey-killing game they play. Yes, they're winning, but so did NJ in the 90's and look at the mess that got us in.
- beervolcano, on 10/27/2009, -2/+2har har har... never heard THAT one before!
/sarcasm - urbanetruth, on 10/27/2009, -3/+3This is why hockey teams should only be put in markets where ice is naturally occurring. In Phoenix, "ice" means something completely different anyway.
