- JakeBC, on 05/07/2009, -1/+49But if Hamilton gets an NHL team, then Toronto is going to want one too.
- evilJaze, on 05/07/2009, -0/+38Come home to papa! Canada is happy to have you.
- Kronos6948, on 05/07/2009, -3/+36I'd love to see them go back to Winnipeg.
- KevinMalone, on 05/07/2009, -1/+27Hockey....in Canada?! Would never work
/s - d3dm, on 05/07/2009, -0/+22The Stanley Cup, apparently.
It moved away in 1993 and hasn't been back there in 15 years. - RogerStrong, on 05/07/2009, -1/+19Send the Leafs down to the US bible belt. A Leafs' game is already like going to a Billy Graham rally - every few minutes, everyone stands up and yells, "JESUS CHRIST!!!"
- Jerky1312, on 05/07/2009, -0/+17You will be getting the Islanders, be a little more patient.
- avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -2/+19Can't wait to see those new Hamilton Jets jerseys
- sputza, on 05/07/2009, -0/+17Who doesn't want to move to Canada?
- jerryd71, on 05/07/2009, -0/+16it would be awesome, bettman is ruining is career by being so stubborn about not moving the teams that are not doing good financially, can't wait for the day he retires or is fired, that day hockey will go back were it belongs; Canada and northern US where there is actual snow. it would be awesome to have a team in winnipeg and hamilton, and maybe in quebec city and halifax/atlantic. 10 canadian teams, maybe one day...
- arsheroica, on 05/07/2009, -0/+16Come on, Waterloo! That would be brilliant. Right in RIM territory, too.
- Gibletoid, on 05/07/2009, -0/+15The guy from RIM wants a team in Kitchener or Hamilton.
He has the money. You have his Blackberrys. - seanovan, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13http://instantrimshot.com/
HEYO! - satori3000, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13so much for free market capitalism. The money isn't there to support the team, it is available in Canada and it stays in the NHL, let the market speak, if it turns out someone else outbids the Canadian bid then the team stays in the US. What's the big deal?
- j0en, on 05/07/2009, -3/+16Ice Hockey in the desert. Yeah. Go to Canada.
- kd420, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13They should never have left, agreed!
- Gibletoid, on 05/07/2009, -0/+12Kitchener Waterloo (300,000) is close enough to Hamilton (500,000), and has 2 Universities in it. It also has world class hockey facilities for international events, and the owner of RIM is the one who wants the team there. Blackberry and RIM have already grown the city a lot, and this would do more. Long term, who knows.
Kitchener is around 1 hour from london, and 1 hour from Toronto.
BTW Phoenix is going to leave for exactly the reason you point out, in reverse. Team moving from somewhere where nobody gives a ***** about hockey to one where the city is already passionate. - superbobd, on 05/07/2009, -0/+12HAMILTON JETS???? ***** you!
-From Winnipeg - avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -0/+12Gary Bettman

I see it going to London (or maybe Kitchener/Waterloo where it would stand even less of a chance), dying a miserable death as the city is too small to realistically sustain a NHL team, then moving to somewhere in the U.S. where it snows once every 70 years and no one gives a ***** about hockey.
- bradmont, on 05/07/2009, -0/+9Bring back the Nordiques!
- walrusryan, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9While we are at it, can we have the Hartford Whalers back?
- ddetina, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9Hamilton's been waiting for an NHL team for the last 20 years.
We live and breath Hockey here.
Our rivalry with Toronto and Buffalo belongs not in the NHL boardrooms, but on the ice where it'll earn big bucks.
Bring 'em on! - techdribble, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9Ok not being a hockey person the first thing I thought of when I saw the headline was the cartoon character and frankly I am not surprised given the huge amount he must owe ACME. ;)
- avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7That is reserved for the Predators, Brampton is for the Panthers, Winnipeg for the Thrashers, and Quebec City for the Lightning
- avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7do you serious just say butt hurt?
- sunnycuts, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7My knowledge of hockey is based on nhl 93 for the genesis has anything changed?
- jerryd71, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7to add to what i just said, i think it's funny how bettman says he is willing to do anything to keep the teams in their respective cities, why wasn't he like that when the jets, the nordiques and the whalers moved. this man definitely has something against canada.
- avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7I feel for you man, I really do, its just that there aren't enough fans like you in AZ to support them. You could always come to orange county and watch the Ducks
- theaceoface, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7That's bellow the belt d3dm...
- beervolcano, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7NOOOO!!!
What's a hockey fan in Phoenix to do? I'm a bit biased in that I want the team to stay here, but I must admit that they would be much more appreciated elsewhere. Marketing for the 'Yotes here sucked, and I bet it doesn't help that they had such a hard time winning games.
Guess it's time to plan moving to a different hockey town. - Jhiaxuz, on 05/07/2009, -3/+9Hartford Whalers, Winnipeg Jets, or Quebec Nordiques are all viable options....
- lordmike, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6A hockey team is returning to Canada? My, how times change... I remember not so long ago, when there was talk of having zero Canadian teams left.... Good on them! I'm glad to see Canada get its just recognition again...
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Ouch.
- Kershek, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6I'm right with you - I love hockey here in Phoenix, but I think it was a terrible decision to put the stadium way off on the west side of town. I live in the East Valley and, while I went downtown to see the games, I'm not driving 40 miles through town to see them, and there are a lot more like me.
- SnapETom, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Good. Another opportunity for me to yell out ***** YOU GARY BETTMAN.
- bigp3rm, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6They totally screwed over the citizens of Glendale. Now the tax payers are out a ***** ton of money. They should have just built the ***** thing in Tempe. So much more going on in that area and an easy drive for most of the people in the valley. !!!
- RogerStrong, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6If an NHL team can support itself and build a stadium without shaking down the taxpayers for half the construction and operating costs, then EVERY city will expect its hockey franchise to do so. This must be stopped.
- Michigan85, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6I miss the Winnipeg Jets white outs in the playoffs.
- Pasaris, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Toronto could support a second team easily.
- MrSteamTank, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Yes but those numbers are deceptive.

Urban areas don't count because they are all divided in odd ways. The real way to measure a cities size(and what a team would use to determine possible fan count) is the metropolitan area. - spepin, on 05/07/2009, -2/+7What about a team in Halifax? People went crazy with the juniors out there, and you'd sell out a lot of games whenever Pittsburgh were in town. Obviously it's not an option, but it's a decent thought.
- goober555, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5They should move them to Seattle, we really need an NHL team here!
- mizike, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5I don't really think a team could make it in Windsor what with the Red Wings right across the bridge.
- hoju7887, on 05/07/2009, -1/+6It'll be awesome to have another Ontario rivalry. Hamilton, Kitchener/Waterloo, London, Windsor; all potential places they could run a profitable organization.
- avirk86, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4http://members.shaw.ca/getbak/nhl_div_map.jpg
They might still keep them in the west - Wolfcaster, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4why not kansas city, seeing as they already have that brand new arena built
- beervolcano, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4Agreed, Glendale was a horrible choice. The Cardinals do fine there because, let's face it, football isn't hurting for fans.
I live in the East Valley too, and don't look forward to the trek. A more central location in Phoenix would have been ideal. Oh well, hindsight... - TdotFUNK, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4If they would move a team there, I would buy a Blackberry. There I said it.
