- naslai, on 04/22/2009, -0/+64***** love the playoffs
- Jeffler, on 04/22/2009, -3/+62To those stating that its interference, incidental contact outside of the crease doesn't affect goal decisions.
- AntonMoss, on 04/22/2009, -2/+36Wow, that commentator was quite the homer.
"Marty just slapped the stick!! And good for him, he's taking a walk!"
Come on commentator, learn the rules. - inactive, on 04/22/2009, -1/+30The crease is the goalie's area. He was outside the crease, so tiny bumps don't count as goalie interference as they would otherwise.
- StinkyTool, on 04/22/2009, -1/+15Goalies have become spoiled over the years with the NHL's rules and they take advantage way to often. If a goalie comes out of the net they should be considered fair game. The crease is there to protect the goaltender. If you don't want to get bumped or wrecked stay in your safety zone. End of story. I love hockey, but they're starting to make me ill with trying to protect the goaltender all the time. Frankly, it's ruining the sport. I miss old-time hockey. )':

"Maudit caliss de tabarnac! Hostie de saint-sacrament de caliss de criss!" - silver98, on 04/22/2009, -2/+14awesome goal. ***** commentator.
- avsfan987, on 04/22/2009, -0/+11This is the first time I've ever seen a buzzer-beater in hockey. Really, it doesn't get much closer than that!
- Shawkab, on 04/22/2009, -8/+19Who cares, Canucks went 4-0 baby!
- crossmr, on 04/22/2009, -1/+11If you look at the wide replay towards the end you can clearly see the hurricanes player skating toward the net with his back to the net. He was skating with at least 4-5 feet of clearance between him and the crease, he can't be blamed if the goalie sneaks out and hits him from behind. This image will pretty much tell you everything you need to know about the "interference" they're about 1/2 a second apart..at what point was he suppose to use his ESP to figure out where the goalie was? http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/6970/image3h.jp ...
- max420, on 04/22/2009, -2/+11Woooooooo! Go Canucks GO!!!!
- cyrix, on 04/22/2009, -0/+8Absolutely. If I come out of goal I can only expect to be fair game. Marty didn't handle that well.
- rileyhallwood, on 04/22/2009, -1/+9american hockey commentators all sound like they're commenting on ***** boxing or something.
- inactive, on 04/22/2009, -1/+9LOL.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdAxMEw59-c - masterofgrond, on 04/22/2009, -3/+11A Rangers fan telling Brodeur to "stay classy?"
How's Sean Avery doing there champ? - rugbyguide, on 04/22/2009, -0/+7The commentator complaining is Chico Recsh, he was a goalie for the Devils when they first moved to NJ. So yeah, he is going to be a bit of homer. BTW, rileyhallwood Chico is Canadian not American.
- inactive, on 04/22/2009, -3/+10I'm no ***** Jersey fan, but you are clearly a ***** moron and deserve to be ripped upon.
Try playing a game of hockey and being in the net when this happens, ESPECIALLY after the incident that happened. Any player on & off the ice is emotionally invested in this game and it takes its toll. Learn the game before you criticize someone for being angry after a game.
Take your head out of your ass *****. (similar to what you username states)
Sincerely,
Hockey - Jeffler, on 04/22/2009, -0/+5I have enough trouble getting the NHL on here. NCAA would be a nightmare.
- Pazo0, on 04/22/2009, -2/+7Go Canucks!!! Burrows Rules!
- Ryfi, on 04/22/2009, -12/+17Devils will still win.
- nekaidesigns, on 04/22/2009, -1/+6@rev0lver - brodeur is 10x better a goalie than avery is at anything, except maybe being a douche. If you're gonna call brodeur out and then defend avery because of his mediocre stats ... well you're just gonna make yourself sound stupid.
- LugaZap, on 04/22/2009, -0/+5What a great series!!!!
- Hockey13, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4Come on, Rev0lver. Stop being a hypocrite. Marty whined when he shouldn't have. He doesn't deserve any sympathy when he's that far out of the net and hit by someone who isn't watching. Chico should think about what he says before he gets so defensive of Marty. I'm a Devils fan...I've thought for years that they need to replace Chico and get an impartial analyst in there.
On the other hand you have Sean Avery. I think Sean Avery is a great player and when he plays well I fear what the Rangers can accomplish. This play, for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp-pLY1W-Gs
Is genius. It's a clean hit and a great forecheck. But if you're looking for whiney and generally disrespecting the spirit of the game, look no further than Sean Avery. He gives Tie Domi a run for his money.
My point is this: don't call out Brodeur for not being classy and defend Avery by citing his skill in the same breath. - stereosaurus, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4Agreed. Marty was moving forward even at the time of contact, basically putting himself in the way.
- zzzpoohzzz, on 04/22/2009, -2/+6holy crap... if i were a jersey fan (or player) i would be so pissed and let down... .2 seconds? has anything been that close before?
luckily for me... im a penguins fan... - FireandFlame, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4Google makes it even funnier.
"Cursed tabarnac of Cali! Host of the Blessed Sacrament of the criss Cali!" - decker12, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Kevin Smith was at the game, twittering as it went on. Funny stuff (read from the bottom up, obviously):
http://twitter.com/ThatKevinSmith - StinkyTool, on 04/22/2009, -1/+4This one wasn't down to the .2 second mark, but was unbelievable to watch. 2 goals in under a minute to even the score and it ultimately . . . whew! Gets me excited just thinkin' about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd9TCdZkK4Y - karan1003, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Did not know hockey could be that down to the wire.
- UglieJosh, on 04/22/2009, -1/+4I don't think that contact was incidental. It looked like they both initiated it though and Brodeur was certainly well out of the crease.
I didn't want Hurricanes to win that game, but they did win fair. - inactive, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Actually I +'d this...
You can blame us all you want for creating the best sport known to man. - RoadDoggFL, on 04/22/2009, -2/+5The crease isn't what determines goalie interference. Intention is.
- DrHockey, on 04/22/2009, -1/+3Not what the rule says. Goalies are never fair game. This was one that could have gone either way though.
- max420, on 04/22/2009, -2/+4Being French Canadian, this made me laugh out loud... good job! haha
- tooker, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2and hasn't once been on Versus or NBC. Only series to not be on national TV.
- Painkilla05, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Woo go Canes. One more game comming up. I want the Canes to win but if they dont good luck Devils :)
- arizona01, on 04/22/2009, -2/+4Canucks all the way!
- djdingo, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2My favorite part is when the goalie had a hissy fit and threw his stick and left the rink.
- tooker, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2You can have your precious moment. In the end all the matters is...Stanley Cups
New Jersey Devils 3
New York Rangers 2
The Ranger franchise has been around 83 years. New Jersey, 27. - sobe4u8k, on 04/23/2009, -0/+2Sorry, yes I mean 39 seconds and then again at 0.08 seconds.
>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgveHcea0kc - inactive, on 04/22/2009, -2/+4There are plenty of reasons to leave the crease when the puck is at the blue line. Learn something called Cutting the Angles.
You can't criticize what you don't know. - Painkilla05, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Raleigh is called the "silicon valley of the east coast" on Wikipedia and is home to IBM, Redhat, and Lenovo. I wouldnt exactly call that a hick town.
- MoSalim786, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2@pooptart
What was more childish is the fact that carolina fans were throwing towels at him.. and he acted as any netminder would if they lost on a goal like that - rugbyguide, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2Yeah, it says to me he lost and did not like it, the call was the right one. Check these pictures and tell me otherwise http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/6970/image3h.jp ...
As for the hick hockey comment, you are ill informed and just bitter. I know it sucks to now be relegated with the Rangers farm club, but that is not the Hurricanes fans fault.
A great number of Hurricanes fans have moved here from the North East and Canada and are knowledgeable hockey fans (Not to mention highly educated in the academic sense). I have been to a bunch of barns around the NHL and I would say the RBC is the loudest along with San Jose. - Rikushix, on 04/22/2009, -1/+3*****' eh, the first sweep ever in franchise history :)
- Brak710101, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2"He's takin' a lot."
Not "he's taking a walk." - str1fe, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2LOUD NOISES
- Cerialthriller, on 04/22/2009, -1/+2besides the fact that he had plenty of time to get setup again and did get setup again, he was just screened and missed the puck.
- dexter411, on 04/22/2009, -0/+1In old time hockey, a guy making even incidental hockey with the goalie would have a bloody nose. The pre-mask era is a great example of the way defenders protected the man in the net.
