- darthsand, on 12/03/2008, -2/+25I hate you Sean Avery.
- usernamed, on 12/03/2008, -0/+16"Sloppy Seconds"
http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip118072#clip118032 - deviouskoopa, on 12/03/2008, -2/+16Damnnnnnn Elisha Cuthbert and Rachel Hunter? He's got quite a track record for a hockey player...
- DP84, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14With all the free time he'll have I bet he wishes he still had Cuthbert laying around.
- NixiePixel, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10Sean Avery is an example of why professional sports have gone way downhill. Thankfully the NHL has far less examples than the NBA.
- catsfive, on 12/03/2008, -2/+11Spoken like a true NOT hockey fan. Hockey is NOT mere entertainment-- it is a SPORT. FOR ONCE, will you Americans learn that hockey is NOT the WWE and what's said actually matters to hockey fans. We expect CLASS ACTS from hockey players, period.
- jackwk, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8His comment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HN8L0W8ewY - psyc420, on 12/03/2008, -1/+9probably a good thing that he couldn't play the flames tonight....iginla and phaneuf would have likely tried to f*ck start his face, ...not to mention what bertuzzi could have conjured up...
- AyaJulia, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8Then remove the category from your front page?
- ngmcs8203, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8/s? Avery is a cancer on that team.
- krahzee, on 12/03/2008, -10/+18Guy's an ass, but how is this suspendable? No foul language, attacking officials or anyone from the league. Simply stated what is true. His Ex is being passed around the NHL like a used kleenex.
- cypher35, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6well good for you... and you felt like commenting on this story because.... ?
- mfured20, on 12/03/2008, -10/+16the guys a dick, but suspending him indefinitely for some comments? what the *****? who cares what the douchebag says, as long as he doesn't kill someone on the ice?
- ahoy, on 12/03/2008, -1/+7you're a ***** moron.
- rileyhallwood, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6yes, brokebackcasket, nothing will keep her from stopping her. absolutely nothing.
at all. - catsfive, on 12/03/2008, -2/+8Spoken like a true NOT hockey fan. Hockey is NOT mere entertainment-- it is a SPORT. FOR ONCE, will you Americans learn that hockey is NOT the WWE and what's said actually matters to hockey fans. We expect CLASS ACTS from hockey players, period.
- azureskies88, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5Too bad hockey players are supposed to bank millions off of, you know, playing hockey.
- Trots, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5@Telekenesis
There's no way Avery gets a lifetime ban. Also, let me know if you ever want to argue the Bertuzzi incident. I'm a Canucks fan, and I laughed at "violently attacking another player and near killing him". Nice use of hyperbole. - Trots, on 12/03/2008, -1/+6No, it's not. If you can find examples where a player did this and was not penalized by the league I'd love to see it.
- Scienceisfun, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4There's no way he'll be banned from the league. Bertuzzi was also suspended indefinitely before they determined what kind of suspension to give him. Avery will be back by January at the latest.
- tehnico, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4thanakar, then you won't have any problem telling your boss his/her wife/husband is a slut/manho?
- blitz718, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4We dont like your kind
- Jrv420, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4I think he gets along with Steve Ott, they are both ***** idiots.
- Scienceisfun, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3Now, had he been a stand up guy, and well-liked by his team, I'm sure they would have stood up for the guy. But unlike some previous superpests like Theo Fleury or Matthew Barnaby (who you'd hate if they weren't on your own team, but love if they were), a lot of his teammates really don't like the guy. Remember when he pulled the stick waving thing in front of Martin Brodeur last playoffs? It seemed like his own teammate, Brendan Shanahan, went up to him during that and told him to knock it off, which of course, he promptly ignored. The man is totally classless, which is fine if that's your schtick, but it's a fool's errand to come out and defend this dickwad.
- wdw25, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3you couldn't type Alexander Ovechkin?
- ghounds07, on 12/03/2008, -6/+9Just states that other hockey players like his sloppy seconds and get suspended indefinitely...wtf? Yeah allow big brawls but please don't say anything even slightly offensive..
- HappyScrappy, on 12/03/2008, -3/+6I don't get it. Is it against the rules to be a jerk now in the NHL? I shudder to think how often Brett Hull would have been suspended under this current gag order system.
- catsfive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+4You think that's appropriate, you cum-guzzling *****? Oops. Sorry. Just nevermind, you know, just a random comment, there.
- shoover, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Do people not understand what 'indefinite' means? He has been suspended until they have a hearing.
- Soonago, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Wow, that got weird.
- shoover, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2'Indefinitely' just means until they have a hearing, they haven't thrown away the key.
- TheMagnificen7, on 12/03/2008, -5/+7Here's hoping he receives the harshest punishment possible, and is never seen in a Stars, or any other NHL uniform, ever again. He absolutely stabbed his coach in the back, who just minutes before, defended Avery's reputation against the media. It was a poor signing by a class orginization orchestrated by an idiot of a GM. Give it up Brett Hull, do something else.
- shoover, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2I think he pushed it a little too far this time. His formula depends on him actually playing hockey, but his attitude is being seen as a liability to both the league and his team.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Get a room.
- evilmike11, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2The NHL needs to lighten up. He used no profane language and he made no threat. His suspension is unwarranted. Thank You ESPN for blowing this up.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -6/+8Big lost
- craterburnsu, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3Puck bunnies man, i know a few. They kick ass.
- cleggg, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2He WAS an agitator. .. Won't be for a while.
And everyone knows what he does when confronted by a big guy wanting to fight. The pussy curls himself like a little girl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU5-HJ9IDOE - TheMagnificen7, on 12/03/2008, -2/+4Yeah, I watched 20 minutes of Sportscenter, know a lot about hockey, care about the NHL and I think Avery is a douchebag. I also go to university, volunteer, have a job, play 4 sports, hang out with friends, have a girlfriend, play guitar, speak 2 languages, read at least 30 books a year and travel at every opportunity.
This is not trivial compared to most of the things on Digg and people are just as passionate about those things.
So you say my life is meaningless.
You must care about nothing at all. I feel sorry for you. - TheMagnificen7, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2That's what's wrong with the NFL. The MLB and the NBA too. This stuff happens all the time in locker rooms and on the ice, but to summon the media and say it in public just because he can should not be tolerated. The guy is scum.
- ngmcs8203, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3I hate Avery too and know that those rumors are old as dirt.
- catsfive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2'Cause you know how those used Kleenexes get around. I mean, thin-- OOPS did someone just blow their nose??? Gotta go!
- drink409, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Sean, I'd love your sloppy seconds. Preferably after a good douche and and nice shower. But I'd take either of them.
- krahzee, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Tehnico, He was speaking about his ex and a player on another team in the league. Not the league itself or any of it's directors.
- TheMagnificen7, on 12/03/2008, -2/+3Considering Brett Hull is responsible for bringing Avery to Dallas, maybe he should get suspended too.
You know... to catch up. - MaxAmillio, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Flames suck bro
- jagermeistr, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1You all miss the point- he got suspended for something he said (which isnt even that bad compared to some stuff I've heard). Players dont get suspended from the league for fighting (and I have no problem with that), but say "sloppy seconds," and you're out? Give me a break.
- bigchiefmunkey, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I'm no big Avery fan at all, but this seems to be sort of odd. On one hand you've got this dude getting suspended *indefinitely* because he said something pretty low brow. On the other hand you've got Plaxico Burress getting suspended for 4 games for SHOOTING HIMSELF and getting charged with two felonies. Boggles the mind.
- Adamlite, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1@tehnico: I don't follow that how you interact with an opponent would be the same as the way you interact with your boss (my boss excepted, but only because he's an *****)
- MaxAmillio, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1this has been a long time coming. Avery constantly acts like a spoiled little *****.
Imagine a Google or Microsoft employee who's constantly talking ***** in public. They'd be fired so quickly. -
