- raleel, on 11/11/2007, -5/+94My wife caught me browsing some porn pics a couple of months ago. This was 10 years into our marriage after 7 years of dating. She was cool with it, I just told her (truthfully) I was horny and it was just a bad time for her. Never came up again. For any of you ladies reading this, it has absolutely nothing to do with my wife.. i don't compare them. She can't fulfill every desire within me, just as I can't fulfill every desire within her. Getting upset about it would be the same as a guy griping when his girl reads romance novels because he can't compare to the guy in one of those. Sound silly to you? That's how we feel about you getting crabby over casual porn viewing.
I also think that if you are paying for porn at the tune of $120 a month, you should look around the net more :) That's probably the bigger sign of a problem... spending actual money on it. - lordtyros, on 11/11/2007, -1/+89Exactly. Don't date girls who have a problem with pornography. Personally, I don't trust people who never masturbate.
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -2/+84Who actually buys porn?
- LordSkywalker, on 11/11/2007, -3/+62How about viewing together?
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -5/+62No woman who buys Cosmopolitan or reads "romance" books has any room to bitch about it. You have your porn, we have ours, but yours is located next to the bubblegum in the checkout line where my daughter can see it and mine is behind a brown wrapper in the back of the store.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -0/+42"I don't trust people who never masturbate".
quote of the day. i demand a digg article discussing it. - FriedTurkey, on 11/11/2007, -3/+36I am sure all of these women were cool with the porn until marriage. Something about marriage lets women give up the phony "I am cool with that" crap.
- dazparkour, on 11/11/2007, -1/+31That's a bit forward of you LordSkywalker, we only just met.
- DivisibleByZero, on 11/08/2007, -2/+31Addicts. Sure, Midget Taxi Fiestas 1 through 7 are available on bittorrent, but part 8 just got released this week and you MUST HAVE IT
- crapmatic, on 11/14/2007, -0/+28Ah, Windows. Clean up all your folders but she'll still find it in the browser history. Clean up all traces of it there and she'll still find it in Documents. Clean up all traces of it there, and she'll still find it in your Recycle Bin. Clean up all traces of it in there and she'll find it in Media Player history.
On Windows it's not a breadcrumb trail that you have... it's half the damn bakery. - VIrus9, on 11/08/2007, -3/+31People who don't know how to bittorrent or usenet.
- bemenaker, on 11/08/2007, -0/+25You could make quite an argument that Cosmo does more harm to relationships than porn.
(See RedNeckerson, I do agree with you once in a while) :) - mistercharlie, on 11/08/2007, -2/+27It boils down to compatability:
If you like porn and she doesn't, you should find yourself a new girlfriend.
If you like eating meat and she's a vegan, you should find yourself a new girlfriend.
If you like drinking beer and she's a recovering alcoholic, find yourself a new girlfriend. - DariusMonsef, on 11/10/2007, -10/+33Probably the best way to prevent porn from ruining your relationships would be: Ctrl+Shift+Del
- MsPunky, on 11/08/2007, -0/+22Good article! A bit of a long read.
Some methods to assist in alleviating the problem:
1) Make your own porn
2) View it together (don't force yourself, but try to find something you both enjoy)
3) Share your fantasies and try out the ones you both like
4) Understand that sex is not meant to be a way to punish your partner for any unrelated problems and that it is an important part of a healthy relationship
The desire to look at attractive people naked is natural, though yes it can upset your partner. I would only worry if it began to become a real addiction, in which you cannot function without it or you begin to replace your partner with it. - inactive, on 11/08/2007, -1/+22Dugg, cause you're right. My girlfriend reads that trash and thinks my porn is bad...***** I know what she gets off on.
- vault, on 11/07/2007, -6/+26It's not. It's something everyone has and uses, just some are more willing to admit to it than others.
You generally don't see people begging for change on street corners because they need money to buy more pr0n. - therealkdog, on 11/07/2007, -0/+20My GF and I watch porn when we F*ck, I love her :)
- cloudyprison, on 11/08/2007, -1/+21It's called, "I control you now, the rest of that was just an act. Here's your honey do list, now go pick up the kids."
- roodammy44, on 11/08/2007, -2/+21So so wrong.
Any guy who tells you he doesn't watch porn is most probably lying. - 89vision, on 11/08/2007, -1/+20Thats why we have bittorrent.

- adamjordanevans, on 11/08/2007, -2/+20I think its whats known as wanting there cake and eating it??? too tired to put out this MONTH, but don't want you to watch porn, oh and be faithful of course. sorry.. ive got my misogyny head on!
- Omano, on 11/08/2007, -1/+18Nice. first comment in the thread to make a REAL argument. Diggin it up.
- typicalusername, on 11/08/2007, -2/+19Simple fix for it all... Become a porn star. Then, it's just office work...
- apetrie, on 11/11/2007, -1/+17I'm a girl. I see nothing offensive about porn. Its just stimulation. Actually, I find it much more acceptable than my current bf does, as he has been put off of the whole thing by the existence of the more degrading, violent and exploitative types porn.
The problem is that women often feel its about the girl(s) in the video for the guy, and therefore it feels like a form of cheating or a threat to them. Maybe I'm wrong, but part of the reason it doesn't bother me at all is because I'm pretty sure what girl is being shown doesn't really matter to the guys at all, except as far as whether shes attractive or not. However, if I was with someone who had a serious thing for a particular porn star, I might be a little stressed out by it. I know when I watch it (yes, girls do that too) its just people having sex, which enhances the thoughts I'm having about sex. Nothing more, nothing less.
When it becomes an obsession or an addiction, its a problem. I don't believe that is case very often though, and I certainly don't see anything wrong with porn as a whole. Its a bit disturbing when its extremely misogynistic (bdsm doesn't count, you can see how much the women and men being submissive are loving it) but beyond that, it can add to a healthy sexual relationship, even one you are having just with yourself.
If my man was choosing to watch porn and masturbate over being physical with me, I'd be upset, but I think its a serious sign of insecurity if you are getting angry or jealous over your partner using porn as stimulation when time, distance, mood etc. prevents him or her from being sexual with you. - eatbeefjerky, on 11/08/2007, -0/+16Oh boo hoo. Your boyfriend watches porn, get over it. Or maybe ask if you can watch it with him. I have no problem with my boyfriend watching porn, as long as its not... donkey fisting or whatever.
- roodammy44, on 11/08/2007, -1/+16"humanity can rot in hell where it belongs"
I bet you're fun at parties.
Yes there are bad things humans do, but there are also good things.
Porn can be either, depending on what you're into. I prefer not to like the sadistic, binge drinking, violent porn you describe. - weeeezzll, on 11/08/2007, -2/+17"66 percent of Internet-using men between the ages of 18 and 34 look at online porn at least once a month."
In other news a new study shows that 34% of men are habitual liers. - dazparkour, on 11/07/2007, -1/+15Why are you being so defencive, he just said he trusts you.

/incredulous - PA42, on 11/08/2007, -2/+16"the popularity of porn, binge drinking, drugs and even war are evidence enough of this." I find it troubling that you group porn with binge drinking and war. There is nothing inherently wrong with pornography, there is something inherently wrong with war and binge drinking.
- DiogenesJr, on 11/07/2007, -1/+14This was a real issue with my ex-wife and I. I was a 20 year old guy in the Army Infantry. Of course I watched porn. Hell, we would have porn night in the barracks every Friday night.
I found her disgust of porn hard to reconcile with her incredibly promiscuous past. Perhaps that was the issue. It simply reminded her of things that she did that she was ashamed of...Oh well, that ship has sunk.
The current wife is ambivalent, but I guess I've grown out of it anyway. - Tourniquet, on 11/08/2007, -2/+15Seriously? How can you be so sure?
- pasatiempos, on 11/08/2007, -0/+13This needs its own thread. Why do women feel the need to control your life after marriage?
- mark_in_bc, on 11/11/2007, -0/+12My wife watches porn with me once in a while and it always results in great sex. She is aways more open minded after viewing porn and always has more than a few orgasm's. The problem is she only wants to watch a few times a year. I don't know what the trigger is but when we watch together it's always her idea if I bring it up it ain't going to happen. She does not mind if I view porn on my own.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -0/+12You're full of *****.
Women's porn is laying on the tables at the dentist's office. It's in every grocery store checkout line, and it can be checked out by children at the public library. It's on broadcast TV and in every chick flick ever made. It's in the break room here at work. Women's porn is more than just widespread, it dominates our culture.
Men's porn is hidden in bad neighborhoods and behind brown wrappers. There are laws concerning the dispaly of men's porn and we'd lose our jobs for bringing it to work. - knetworx, on 11/08/2007, -0/+11Until she sees the tab titles: GMail | Digg | Midgets F**king Donkeys
Personally I'm a fan of Alt+Space+C because the buttons are all next to each other, and they're at the bottom of the keyboard where my hand is already resting, so there's no incriminating reach for the top of the keyboard. - tesuji05, on 11/07/2007, -6/+17This is why I use the best Porn OS in existence; OSX Leopard.
1. Your girlfriend won't know how to search your computer if she's mac illiterate
2. Quick View leaves no trace, and can full screen
3. Spaces can be used to quickly hide an open window
4. Coverflow for quick and easy browsing
(http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/1 ... - nkohari, on 11/07/2007, -0/+11Also, Booyah.
- raleel, on 11/08/2007, -0/+111) women in porn are actresses. The "characters" portrayed there are no more real than the words on a page based on a real live person somewhere in the world. They are made up to the point where it is impossible to tell who is who when you see them without makeup. Should I feel insecure about George Clooney or Johnny Depp every time I see him kiss some other lady on screen? Every time they show them ripping of clothes in the hallway in a moment of passion? Every time they show a hot scene with simulated sexual motion?
2) Funny about the romance novel thing... I completely disagree. Go to the local used book store, 8 out of 10 people in the store are women in the romance novel section. My mother reads romance novels, my mother in law reads them, my wife reads them, every woman I work with reads them. This includes secretaries and PhD scientists, nurses and network administrators. The industry also disagrees with you, as it made $1.37 billion in 2006 (http://www.rwanational.org/cs/the_romance_genre/ro ... bucking the downturn in the publishing industry.
3) Men are stimulated visually and by imagination. Women are stimulated by emotion and relationships. This one I would suggest going and looking up. There is quite a bit of research out there on it.
The problem is not the porn (or the romance novel) itself. It is the relationship and the people not communicating and being insecure. - MaliciousKitty, on 11/08/2007, -0/+11I think in moderation porn is fine, but there can be times when it is too much. If you're spending 20 hours watching porn, even though you have a wife, there might be a problem.
Porn should not be more important than your marriage, so you shouldn't choose porn first. If there is a problem with your wife, try working it out with her. She's not going to magically know whats wrong.
If you're spending all your time watching porn, instead of sexing up your wife, you need to stop and re-evaluate everything. Why are you watching so much porn? Wife not satisfy you? Do you have some insatiable hunger for human/animal porn? If you're choosing these videos over your wife (who you can actually touch), it's a good idea to find out why.
If I was married, I would be okay with my husband watching some porn, as long as I'm usually his first choice. If he's always choosing porn over me, then I want to know why, and what I can do to change that (if I can. I'm not willing to shove coke bottles up my vagina or anything. If our sexual interests are too mismatched, then it might be time for divorce). - gotterdammerung, on 11/11/2007, -0/+11... the phrases "throbbing member" and "heaving bosom?"

- dazparkour, on 11/08/2007, -1/+11"to achieve the same "effect" and if the porn doesn't do it, some may migrate toward "acting out", with sexual assaults."
Oh no you didn't girl!
Porn is a gateway drug for rape?
Present your evidence, you just insulted the average digger's significant other. - codmate, on 11/08/2007, -1/+11Windows Key + M too ;-D
