- drmobutu, on 05/24/2009, -4/+134Lots of people think you ought to be terminally ill, with Aids or cancer, to be eligible for medical marijuana. Nothing could be further from the truth. Marijuana is useful in a wide variety of condidtions, including PTSD, ADHD, depression and anxiety disorders, and is helpful in harm-reduction from alchohol and other drugs, in addition to pain relief and appetite enhancement.
I believe much of the resistance to medical marijuana encountered from politicians is a result of pharmaceutical industry lobbying. More marijuana use would likely mean lower sales of Prozac, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and the like... - normlsparky, on 05/24/2009, -5/+135I'm glad to see that medical marijuana is gaining acceptance by the states, and to a lesser degree, by the Federal Government. However, I want to see prohibition end in my lifetime. You don't need a doctor's prescription to have a beer. Burning one should be no different.
- TBombadil, on 05/24/2009, -5/+112I smoke pot because I like it.....no I'm not sorry.
- ZhiZaki, on 05/24/2009, -2/+85People shouldn't feel guilty, looked down upon or shamed for using medicine of any form. Actually, people should just mind their own ***** business and let neighbors and coworkers worry about their own.
- thizzlebot, on 05/24/2009, -3/+72I lost my pizza delivery job because they found out i smoked AFTER WORK. Even though one of the managers killed someone and did 5 years in prison, im the one thats too dangerous to work there. The manager has killed more people than pot has.
- jillysstuff, on 05/24/2009, -1/+55I am not a marijuana user but have tried it in my lifetime. If I had to choose between someone high on pot or someone "rip roarin'" drunk - I'll take the pot head. They are usually funnier, easier to understand when they talk to you and less likely to turn violent. And I am a grandmother!
- yttrstein, on 05/24/2009, -4/+50Actually, marijuana is the single reason that I am not blind right now. I smoke/vaporize/eat it for glaucoma, and despite your childish, ignorant take on the subject, I'll continue "sucking on weed to get my giggles and *****". And also so that I can see.
- Echota, on 05/24/2009, -1/+37Nobody should have to apologize for using marijuana or spend time in prison for using it first of all but when it comes to medical use of it then it should be made more availabe to everyone...............and nobody should feel they need to say I'm sorry, not ever.
- thizzlebot, on 05/24/2009, -3/+37Weed needs to be illegal!! It is very dangerous, people get high and watch movies and eat food.
- chadillac83, on 05/24/2009, -2/+31Yes, I'm A Illegal Marijuana Patient. No, I'm Not Sorry.
... you take your Ambien to fall asleep... I'll smoke my blunt. - tgc1, on 05/24/2009, -1/+25It's your body and your choice. All the power to you man.
- vapn420, on 05/24/2009, -1/+25Maybe not testicular cancer, but it would certainly help you be less of an intolerable douche.
- vapn420, on 05/24/2009, -2/+25They way I see it, no one needs to apologize for anything until they do something that actually harms other people. Do we jump all over the people who have mid-morning drinks? Not until they decide to drive drunk... so why should we grill people who smoke marijuana when clearly they have a track record of *NOT* ***** up other people?
- fury420, on 05/24/2009, -1/+20actually, in this case employers are attempting to make people "guilty" by way of urine tests, even if their marijuana usage is legitimate, prescribed by their doctor and within the law.
- woodrail, on 05/24/2009, -4/+22When you indoctrinate a kid into thinking a thing (like "drugs are bad" or "jesus is lord", for example) then that kid grows up believing that thing. The kid doesn't believe the thing because reason leads him to do so, he believes the thing because he was programmed to do so at an age when he was vulnerable to that kind of thing. The root of this belief is deeply embedded within the kid's mind, safely out of the reach of regular everyday insight and rationality.
But wait, there's more.
This belief was formed before he discovered the wonders of reason - that means that the belief takes precedence over reason - And that means that the kid will create reasons to support the belief and, when reason contradicts the belief, reason will be ignored.
Yep, behold the glory of child-brainwashing - Don't take it lightly. It produces ***** up people and only ***** up people do it (which is a kind of reproduction if you think about it).
My point is, are they still teaching that "just say no" ***** in the grade schools? - sanguinekane, on 05/24/2009, -4/+22You got a source other than some bs DARE propaganda for that claim?
- scoot87, on 05/24/2009, -1/+18I want to see prohibition end not to freely smoke weed, but so that the border violence that is killing numerous lives each day be diminished, so that people with drug problems do not get locked up in jail but will receive help, and that taxpayers do not have to pay the huge bill for the unnecessary and overcrowded prison population.
- newman8r, on 05/24/2009, -2/+19I remember being brainwashed against cannabis in grade school, to the point where I actually *hated* the kids who were rumored to have tried it.
It wasn't until middle school and high school that I changed my opinions... actually that's when I kind of said goodbye to my previously held religious beliefs as well.. I'm one of the lucky ones I suppose - td001, on 05/24/2009, -2/+19OG. means "ocean grown" fool. as in OG Kush, etc.
Strains of cannabis are differentiated by names indicating genetic heritage and sometimes geographic locale. As different varieties of cannabis are suited for different purposes they are distinguished as such. - jxke, on 05/24/2009, -1/+18When will the government realize they can do away with tons of drug dealers all over the United States, If they just legalize Marijuana?
- flyingsquirle, on 05/24/2009, -1/+18wtf.. you can't be against the recreational use of Marijuana and be a ex drug dealer..? What, you only deal to customers with credentials?
- b8man99, on 05/25/2009, -2/+18It's like saying you're ashamed of eating organic vegetable over a pot noodle. You know when you're eating it that it's better for you, no matter how glossy the labels on the pot noodle are.
Smoke weed; Do a little research and find out if you can ditch the little pills your suspiciously over-paid doctor is throwing at you. - JoshReflek, on 05/24/2009, -2/+18one of the dumbest things i have ever heard, srsly
- inactive, on 05/24/2009, -2/+14You don't see everyone in Holland or Portugal unemployed, do you?
The reason it's illegal is because a bunch of criminals use it to make money and take control. - luminousiguana, on 05/25/2009, -2/+14I am a 20 year old IT professional. It is often a very stressful job. I've weighed 114 lbs since I was in grade 9. I've tried working out in the past but just never had the appetite to end up gaining weight. The stress from work has often led to skin conditions and the like which, in turn, lead to mild depression, trouble sleeping, eating, etc. About 2 months ago I started smoking weed on weekends. I enjoy my job and life in general a lot more. I've started working out again, but this time I've been able to add some muscle mass. Unlike any other medications, etc there are no negative side effects besides the social stigma our governments have fabricated.
Marijuana is decriminalized where I live but it is still illegal to sell or posses in significant quantities. It is beyond me why such a helpful herb has been grouped with substances that are actually harmful. - vsujohn2, on 05/24/2009, -3/+15You're retarded.
- NinjAlt, on 05/25/2009, -0/+12You would think the MPAA would want marijuana legalized. Just think of how many of those ***** movies that aren't bringing in sales might have turned out if the audience had been a little high before stepping into the theater.
- Kris10Joy7, on 05/25/2009, -0/+12And they're less likely to black out, forgetting the evening's events, or end up puking their guts out at the end of the night.
- inactive, on 05/24/2009, -2/+14He should be so sorry. I mean, using a plant for his well-being.. That's Al Qaeda!
- normlsparky, on 05/24/2009, -4/+15Vaporizing or eating it is equivalent of zero cigarettes, so you'll have to do better than that if you want to defend prohibition.
- enevitable, on 05/24/2009, -2/+13By the way to all the arrogant kids dismissing yttrstein's claim on it preventing glaucoma, he is right.
The main risk factor in developing glaucoma is increased intraocular blood pressure, something that marijuana alleviates.
So before you guys jump on the 'omg hes just a crackhead wanting to get high!' childish ignorant rants, educate yourself a little. - pkon, on 05/24/2009, -3/+14Because Morphine is so a goody-two shoes drug? Take two seconds of your worthless time and read about it a little bit more moron.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morphine
Marijuana is a lot safer for medical uses than Morphine. - normlsparky, on 05/24/2009, -1/+12There are many valid reasons to want prohibition ended. There aren't many valid reasons for supporting it. Continued public debate will eventually prove this fact.
If the last 3 Presidents of the US and multiple gold winning Olympic athletes can admit to using it, most of the arguments supporting prohibition fail miserably. - dty2010, on 05/25/2009, -0/+10Sleeping makes you unproductive too. That's why you do it at home instead of while you're working
- HeavyWave, on 05/25/2009, -0/+10Hi grandma!
- satanherself, on 05/25/2009, -1/+11I was given medicinal marijuana for menstrual cramps in Nevada. Thank you Nevada.
- dirtridr, on 05/24/2009, -1/+11Dugg for the Hollywood O.G nug
- darkintheglow, on 05/24/2009, -0/+10Not being medicated when I worked as a teacher meant I had to quit my dream job, as my disability prevented me from functioning.
Now, from home, I'm able to vote and participate in other activism for several causes. Why? Medical marijuana allows me to function.
Imagine the number of people who could REJOIN the workforce if the stigma against medical marijuana was lifted, and judgmental nonthinkers like yourself were forced to develop an addiction to Vicodin and see how much you enjoy that.
Do your homework before making ridiculous and untrue pronouncements about the history of marijuana's legality. - kconnors, on 05/25/2009, -1/+10refer madness has been exposed for what it is. And I don't smoke pot. I would think eating it as a better way of consuming it. I hope to see legalization in my lifetime. It just insults me to see the double standards of alcohol, tobacco and then marijuana. I am just insulted to see such hypocrisy exist amongst government.
- NosceTeIpsum, on 05/24/2009, -0/+9akchrs just hates freedom, that's all. pay her no attention.
- td001, on 05/24/2009, -1/+10why would you give a flying f*ck what anyone else smokes???
- cuarandera, on 05/24/2009, -3/+12alanocu -i dugg you down for having the dumbest comment of the week.
- Gman1223, on 05/24/2009, -1/+10"A 2007 study by the Canadian government found cannabis smoke contained more toxic substances than tobacco smoke.[27] The study determined that marijuana smoke contained 20 times more ammonia, and five times more hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen oxides than tobacco smoke. ***In spite of this, recent studies have been unable to demonstrate a direct link between lung cancer and frequent direct inhalation of marijuana smoke. While many researchers have failed to find a correlation,[28][29] some researchers still conclude that cannabis smoke poses a higher risk of lung cancer than tobacco.[30]*** Some studies have even shown that the non-intoxicating ingredient CBD found in marijuana may be useful in treating breast cancer.[31]"

- ruforealz, on 05/25/2009, -0/+9And alcohol... helps people operate heavy machinery?
- TEssma, on 05/24/2009, -3/+11When will you realize that since it isn't legalized potheads are forced to buy their pot from dealers?
- NCg8r, on 05/25/2009, -0/+8I can't abide people who consume caffeine and alcohol "for no reason". Are you with me, brother?!?
- noangelcame, on 05/24/2009, -2/+10I smoke weed and it does a great deal to help with anxiety and depression. A lot of people like "Barbarino" above are going off of Government propaganda and stereotypes we've been told to believe all our lives. They all lied. It's proven, It's acknowledged. So stop with the spreading of misinformation, please.
It doesn't make you lose ambition or make you lazy or stupid. Just look at Carl Sagan. - vapn420, on 05/24/2009, -2/+10because heroin dealers are scary
