- buffalogums, on 11/09/2009, -5/+29Arresting people for not complying with the Dems health plan? Lock them in prison for 5 years for not complying demands of our new police state?
WHAT THE *****? Are we still in America?
This is insane. How much more can Washington abuse the Constitution before they find out the hard way why The Framers ensured our right to bear arms? Do they never wonder where all the record amounts of guns and ammo were sold to? I know that sounds alarmist and crazy, but Americans will not be ruled by their government. - TragedyAndHope, on 11/09/2009, -0/+19http://www.hoover.org/publications/digest/3459466. ...
How to Cure Health Care by Milton Friedman. Anyone who is naive enough to support this health care swindle, please read. - gmackenzie, on 11/08/2009, -37/+56Is this the official death of freedom in our 'free' republic?
I have heard freedom defined as not the ability to do whatever you want to do, but rather not being forced to do something you don't want to do.
The Meriam-Webster online dictionary seems to agree with this:
1 : the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action
I personally don't want to participate. I will no longer be free, but rather a captive or criminal in the country I was born. - Jeezopete, on 11/08/2009, -36/+54This bill is not about healthcare.....it's a power grab by the elite. The more people that they can get "dependant" on government programs the more you will be enslaved to the system. This is not freedom..it is tyranny!
- neutron7, on 11/09/2009, -5/+22more money for the prison complex, more money for lawyers. its win win!
- libertygal76, on 11/08/2009, -35/+52Dumbest plan EVER!!!!!
- buckrogers1965, on 11/09/2009, -0/+16So when they put me in prison for not paying the quarter million dollar fine, then I get free health care?
*Gets in line for prison so I can finally get some health care.* - henri3, on 11/09/2009, -26/+41So this is the New American Healthcare Plan, either you pay for the extortion payments, or your pay a $250.000 Fine or Go to Jail for not Complying! to this UnConstitutional mandate from the Federal Government. So How Big Is Gitmo? if Millions of us do not Comply?
- DiggerLater, on 11/09/2009, -6/+18Heil Obama. I'm leaving America as soon as I get my Ph.D.
- Dregganaut, on 11/09/2009, -31/+43Buried for sanctimonious ***** American hysteria about loss of freedoms.

- moriarty23, on 11/09/2009, -5/+16If only we could make it so the patient has no protection against negligence and let insures become a huge ***** monopoly, then we would see real improvements in health care!
- mykidsfuture, on 11/09/2009, -0/+11I don't get sick, don't take meds and I don't and will not go to Drs.
I don't need their healthcare, why make me pay for it?
Haven't in 25 years am not going to start now.
Wake up people....if you eat the right foods, get a little exercise
you won't have all the diseases they have poisoned you with.
And if you don't believe me...Have you had your H1 shot yet?
maybe you better go get it. - HenryKillinger, on 11/09/2009, -17/+27Why Are We Capitalizing The First Letter Of Every Word?
- Dregganaut, on 11/09/2009, -4/+14Because We Are ***** Stupid
- bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -1/+11I don't need to drive a car. I should be allowed to live without insurance.
- dusanmal, on 11/09/2009, -0/+10Well, I lived a good chunk of my life under Marxism and have been "educated" in it from grade 1 to University. Marx stood exactly for this kind of schemes.
"The simple answer is, "Because they are also paying for yours."" - if you also assume that person in question is irresponsible idiot incapable of taking care of himself or planning. Who is paying for my health insurance if I pay for medical treatment out of my pocket because I was planning ahead and saved money instead of wasting it on insurance schemes? In such case, why should I be forced to stop managing my own money and either pay into the insurance scam or get my money stolen by the Big Gvt.? Because Govt. wants control and grateful dependent subjects who don't think for 'themselves. That is Marxism in practice.
In real freedom everyone should be allowed to manage their own risk, buy or not buy insurance as how it fits them and carry real consequences of such decisions. - c010rb1indusa, on 11/09/2009, -12/+22I'll give you a good answer congressmen. One of the biggest reasons our healthcare costs are so expensive is because the rest of us are picking up the tab for the uninsured who use the emergency room as their own personal doctor because they can't afford to see a doctor. These unpaid medical bills get passed over to either the insured and people who can afford it. To bring costs down, it requires that an individual has some form of health insurance to not only allow people to see a doctor when their sick, but to keep the cost of insurance down for all of us.
- bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -3/+13Whenever congress is in session you are guaranteed loss of freedom. That is after all their job to create laws. And laws by their nature generally restrict freedom.
so I guess this is ***** as it is to be expected. - dusanmal, on 11/09/2009, -0/+9"If you want to be an ultra-libertarian crazy, go live in a forest ..."
Not possible under this plan. They'll come and arrest you for not paying to IRS the dues for not having approved health insurance, be it in the forest. - digggroupie, on 11/09/2009, -23/+32Every congress critter that voted for this must be beaten
- Barackalypse, on 11/09/2009, -0/+9Yes, it will, the law says you must be enrolled in a "qualified plan" and the Secretary of Health and Human Services has 18 months to define what a qualified plan must cover and what it may cost. Guess what, some of the health plans out there aren't going to cover everything the Government is going to say they require, forcing you into a more expensive plan. Go read:

- teichenauer, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8Don't let prison health care tempt you overmuch.
- InfiniteNothing, on 11/09/2009, -12/+20FYI the insurance has to be mandatory because part of the bill is that preexisting conditions can't disqualify you. If you could join as you please you'd never join until you were already sick which ruins the whole point of insurance and cost averaging.
- richardstaboner, on 11/09/2009, -1/+9I AGREE!!! WHAT SHOULD WE DO?!!?
- Barackalypse, on 11/09/2009, -2/+10You don't think the $37k I paid in taxes last year more than covers the roads I rarely use (since I'm so far off the road network I don't even own a car, I use a snowmobile or ATV), the schools I never went to, and the Fire department which can't even get to me? Now I need to pay for a Government approved health care plan that provides way more coverage than I need (I need insurance against catastrophic injury, not against a sore throat that requires a $125 Doctors visit and a $4 anti-biotic)?
- mrkmrk, on 11/09/2009, -1/+9Every single one of those things could have been done better and cheaper by private enterprise. The fact that the government removed our options and forces us to use their services does not mean that we are inherently reliant on them--they have merely made it illegal to be independent of them.
- dmm219, on 11/09/2009, -4/+12Well HERE'S some great critical thought...
(Driving is priviledge. You don't have to own a care or drive. If you have no car, you do not have to have car insurance. Just being born means you will be on the hook your entire life to pay health insurance premiums to a PRIVATE, FOR PROFIT entity, by penalty of law.
This is clearly unconstitutional, but that document has just been a decorative piece of parchment in a musuem for more than 100 years. - bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8People's freedoms are so costly to us. We should also ban motorcycle riding since it's obviously an excessive risk for the collective. Also we should ban smoking and alcohol those also cost society too much.
What was that quote from Ben Franklin something like
"Those who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security unless that freedom is just too costly for everyone else... then it's ok" - mrkmrk, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8You don't think that those of complaining (that aren't neocons) are pissed off about that, too? You can't just say, "Your side [even if it's not our side] did it too, so it's okay for us!"
- these3remain, on 11/09/2009, -7/+15Meh, that's what they have the internment camps for.
- libertygal76, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8Ok, 2 things:
1) I did not ask anyone to pay for my health insurance so I don't think that they should expect me to pay for theirs.
2) Learn the appropriate "whether" - bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -0/+7"ALL insurance, weather publicly or privately owned, works best when the risk pool is as large as possible."
Actually insurance works best when risks pools are divided into a price structure that best estimates the cost of insuring that person and what premium and deductible to charge based on that information and what they would like to have covered.
This is why every other insurance works but health insurance.
Insurance is about RISK POOLS there is no risk of me getting a cold or an infection and going to the doctor it's a certainty. There is not risk that if a person buys insurance with prenatal care that she MAY become pregnant it's almost a certainty - an therefore a built in cost. This is why insurance is broken it is prepaid certainties rather than insured risk. (Such as the risk of a heart attack. that is a really costly risk) - dusanmal, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8Where in that scheme is a place for me, not wanting to participate in either Insurance scam or Govt. health care? Say, I want to save my own money, not wasting it paying insurance or paying taxes for not having it. Than, when I need medical attention I can pay for it as it should be: out of my own pocket from the money I saved planning for such need...
Nowhere. This plan assumes stupid masses who can't think for themselves. - dusanmal, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8Required car insurance is there to protect OTHERS from you while you are free to purchase more and protect your self and stuff too, that part being optional.
- Barackalypse, on 11/09/2009, -2/+9Lets start National Hurricane insurance too. Imagine how the rates will go down when all the inland States have to buy something they'll never need! Also, increasing the number of people with insurance doesn't lower costs, because all it does is increase demand, it does nothing to increase the supply. When demand increases and supply remains constant, prices (and wait times), rise. They found this out in Massachusetts when they forced most everyone to have insurance. Boston now leads the nation in physician wait times:
""With our state health reform initiative, we quickly learned that universal coverage doesn’t equate to universal access," Dr. Mario Motta, president of the society, said in a statement."
http://www.boston.com/news/health/blog/2009/09/pri ... - MKautz, on 11/09/2009, -2/+9Should Health Care be a privilege? Doesn't that kind of put us where we are right now?
- bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8"I'm sure highways and municipal water are just another way the government makes us dependent on them."
I don't go to jail for not using these or for that matter not paying for them.
As it is conceivable for someone to not be taxed at all if they live in such a manner as to avoid doing just about anything other than living on someone else land in the woods.. - PeppermintPig, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8The US was founded on the notion that a 1% tax was intolerable. Why is it a bad idea to pursue and preserve greater liberty? Why must the good be forced on others?
- Barackalypse, on 11/09/2009, -2/+9Three problems with this analogy:
1) The Federal Government doesn't require you to have insurance, the States do (and further, not all of them do)
2) People who don't wish to drive don't have to buy car insurance
3) You don't have to submit proof of insurance to any organization for validation, you only have to show it if the Police ask you to - CrazedChemist, on 11/09/2009, -3/+9"...beyond the minimum liability insurance required by your state."
....THIS IS TYRANNY. - photoshopwiz, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6Go directly to jail card: http://i38.tinypic.com/2uzw18w.jpg[/IMG]
...for your email communications ... alert your friends ahead of time, so your rich buddies will be prepared to send you some survival commodities to barter with while you're in the slammer! - Barackalypse, on 11/09/2009, -4/+10King George said the very same thing about the original tea party: "Threw the tea, in the harbor, did they? Preposterous!" A little while later when the shooting started I think he began to take things a bit more seriously. Maybe we could actually recognize a number of people have an honest right to disagree with this and not all opposition is some fringe group.
- bunit03057, on 11/09/2009, -0/+6It's not really a that weird. When you lobby congress and the state legislators enough you will eventually have a monopoly.
- mrkmrk, on 11/09/2009, -0/+6They wouldn't set fire to your damned money if you didn't require the public to give it to them, you dolt. You caused your own problem with regulation, and you propose that more regulation is needed to fix it. Einstein called that insanity, if I remember correctly.
- gn84, on 11/09/2009, -0/+6@InfiniteNothing
Please don't project your darker nature onto me.
Throwing people in a cage because they do not choose to buy into a corporatist bureaucratic health insurance scam is what's dark. - BearKill, on 11/09/2009, -2/+8You have bought into the Obamunist talking points. The cost of emergency room care for uninsured is a drop in the bucket in the overall cost of healthcare. You are a sucker. This is just a government power grab to seize another 20% of the economy and gullible rubes like you are just cheering the commie bastards on. Fools!
