If you are for $cientology, digg this comment down. - johnruk, on 01/03/2009, -5/+310And why the hell does Scientology not recognize Autism?
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -11/+195Scientology contributed heavily to his death, or at least that is what anonymous said.

- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -8/+108Doesn't Scientology make you invincible to seizures?
Jett Travolta clearly wasn't reading his L. Ron Hubbard enough. - megamod, on 01/04/2009, -4/+103very good unbiased article...almost TOO unbiased.

- guyincognitoo, on 01/04/2009, -2/+76Kawasaki disease can be treated just fine with aspirin, too bad a Scientology says you can't take aspirin.
- mphree, on 01/04/2009, -7/+78Yes, it is. Because his religion is most likely why his son is now dead.
- d3sapar3cid0, on 01/04/2009, -0/+65Because Scientology views a large amount of afflictions as "psychosomatic". Meaning they believe that these are caused by the mind, and that through "auditing" you can come to realize this and rid yourself of thetans, which are the cause of them.
To Scientologists, cancer also falls under this assumption. Many members have died of cancer because they were forbidden from partaking in chemotherapy or surgery that could have saved them or at least extended their life.

"Further complicating the issue, some pundits have argued that restriction of medical care for Jett due to his parents' Scientology beliefs may also be to blame. There has also been speculation that Jett may have suffered from autism, which isn't recognized by Scientology." - Hurricane, on 01/04/2009, -1/+60For anybody not in the know, Scientology (I abhor the way they insult the word 'science') believe that ALL medical conditions, and especially mental conditions, are in some way connected to negative Thetans (ancient alien ghosts), they believe in "audits" instead of medicine due to the great insane Hubbard having a hate for Doctors (expecially mental doctors...wonder why).
This death does indeed need to go on the list of Scientology victims. - sebastienk, on 01/04/2009, -0/+59It's not a religion, it's a dangerous cult!
- Wyodiver, on 01/04/2009, -2/+55Ok, kids. $cientology is Not a religion. It's a cult, a scam. And they are the Amway of cults. L. "BS" Ron Hubbard was a con artist. I don't want anybody to die or suffer, but $cientology needs to be revealed as the totally craptastic BS that it really is. Any "religion" that would brain wash its' followers into neglecting to properly medicate a sick child is criminal in my book. I wish, at the very least, that people would stop using the words religion and church when referring to $cientology. At best, I wish there was a way to eradicate $cientology from the face of the Earth. And this crap about "Hey, they aren't hurting you, leave them alone!" Well, just wait until they recruit your son, mother, friend, whatever. Watch that person get totally brainwashed and used. Have a nice day.
- JD52, on 01/04/2009, -3/+55Actually it is perfectly acceptable if the coroner determines that the boy died from a condition that could have been easily managed by normal doctors and his parents did not seek medical attention for him based on their goofy religious beliefs.
- soogy, on 01/04/2009, -4/+50I like money, so I'm not sure which way to digg you.
- TPorter72, on 01/04/2009, -0/+44no, someone told him about xenu before he was ready.
- guitarh3ro, on 01/04/2009, -3/+46I have no clue how so many diggers can seriously consider scientology to be a religion
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -14/+55everyday, digg turns more into an entertainment tabloid.
- BlueMeanies, on 01/04/2009, -13/+54I thought he died from Saturday Night Fever...
- ParaSwarm, on 01/04/2009, -1/+38Wow, calling scientology a religion... I guess anything can be a religion.
- TheMachine1, on 01/04/2009, -1/+36If a seizure followed by a fall is the cause of death then I'm curious if the child was on meds to prevent them. I deleted a comment I made last time this story was on Digg where I defended Scientology saying they likely did not view anti-seizures meds as psychotropic drugs. But a quick google check found a case of a dead former Scientologist that was asked to stop taking his meds.
Oh I have a pretty simple explaintion of why the church really does not view various health problems as real. The government cracked down on them in the past for making unprovable claims that their E-meters treated illinesses. So they now claim its spiritual to avoid regulation. - Johnagain, on 01/04/2009, -3/+36Kawasaki Disease: http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/heart/kawasak ...
"Cases that go untreated can lead to more serious complications, such as vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels. This can be particularly dangerous because it can affect the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart."
Let's wait for the Autopsy. - guitarh3ro, on 01/04/2009, -1/+34Buried for suggesting that scientology is a religion. It's a cult. I am sympathetic though and I'm sorry, no one should ever have to go through such a tragedy. RIP Jett.
- guitarh3ro, on 01/04/2009, -1/+32@einchy
Wow thats ignorant. His son was diagnosed with a serious disorder from carpet cleaners and was advised to take medication. Instead, travolta turned to scientology, a cult that doesnt allow members to take medicine because they think psychiatrists are evil. This all could have been prevented if scientology wasnt in it for the benjamins and wasnt ***** stupid.
Do your homework before being a dumbass. - jakereilly, on 01/04/2009, -10/+40Scientology is a criminal organization. It can be and will be insulted whenever and however.
However the claim that it is to blame for this kid's death is completely unfounded. - SniperZero, on 01/04/2009, -4/+33xenu has started taking people back ?
- vtnerd, on 01/04/2009, -1/+28Why didn't you read the article? It's near the bottom.
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -1/+28It's a religion for taxation purposes only, get it right. Buried. You don't pay to read the next chapter of the bible.
- Rotzooi, on 01/04/2009, -3/+29Worryingly, at this moment, 12% of Diggers are pro-Scientology. ***** me.
- gquaglia, on 01/04/2009, -0/+26He would have been immune, but he was late on his last payment of $100,000 to the church.
- smacksaw, on 01/04/2009, -2/+28Because elRon didn't make up a really retro-60's space age sounding name for it. Therefore it doesn't exist. Especially because some SPsychologist made it up.
- zuiquan, on 01/04/2009, -0/+26"infact, after taking a few basic courses (communication and grammar) my effectivness to be an operating member of society has exceeced tremendously..."
Holy *****. You really need to rethink this whole thing if your post is any example of your effectiveness to be an operating member of society with your communications and your grammars skills. Wow. Just wow. Way to prove everyone else's points though. Good job. - zaffir, on 01/04/2009, -4/+29Their "religion" is what killed him. They deserve everything everyone has to say about it.
If a man drives his son around in a car he knows has no brakes, then he runs it into a tree at 70mph and kills his son, you can't expect people to not call him a ***** idiot and prosecute him for (at least) negligent homicide. - Ericdigital, on 01/04/2009, -0/+25I think one of those is suppose to be forget.
- bsmang, on 01/04/2009, -2/+26So in other words, it's because they're ***** retarded.
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -7/+31"give the family some time to grieve"
Yes, because the Travoltas read digg everyday and are pained to see this article. This isn't bothering anybody. - inactive, on 01/04/2009, -7/+28Kawasaki disease doesn't cause seizures.
- aristotle1990, on 01/04/2009, -1/+21im in ur body, pluggin up ur orifices
- rancidpony, on 01/04/2009, -1/+21@shedtroll - Because scientology doesn't understand it. There is no science in scientology. Check out L. Ron Hubbard's claim that lung cancer is caused from not smoking enough.
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Scientology-1751/Hubbar ... (also included is a link to an audio recording of him making that claim.
To a degree, ALL ailments are self induced by they mind according to scientology. According to them you should just imagine it's better & it will get fixed. Just pay them for costly auditing sessions & move up the bridge until you are fixed. - prankboy973, on 01/04/2009, -2/+22That's only if you're still around 1-5 years old. After the symptoms are gone there's really no major lasting effects...assuming he was treated correctly. Since Jett was 16, I doubt he had a seizure due to Kawasaki
- flamesoftheend, on 01/04/2009, -7/+26The fact that his name is Jett
- smacksaw, on 01/04/2009, -1/+20Do you forget to not forget?
I cannot forgive that. - NodOfficer, on 01/04/2009, -0/+19^This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA. Dietary supplements are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- tmyprod, on 01/04/2009, -7/+25Damn, I'd hate to be named after one of my dad's hobbies. Just imagine:
<you> My name is Golfer.
<friend> That's a strange name.
<you> It's not as weird as my brother's.
<friend> What's his name?
<you> Ruboneoutintheshower. -
