- elosorusso, on 02/25/2009, -1/+22Not sure you need to ever preface the word "Japanese" with "weird" when it comes to a photo on Digg. It borders on redundant.
- chaoshauk, on 02/25/2009, -0/+9Apparently they really want to ram home the point that the "Japanese spa industry, under heavy competition, is trying new features to attract health-conscious bathers on February 25, 2007."
- jamspt, on 02/25/2009, -2/+8Your dick is that small that it would fit in the mouth of a baby carp?
Good job advertising that on the internet. - wantguru, on 02/25/2009, -1/+7UPI needs to check spa industry in Korea.
- jimmy87lee, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6Are the fish safe?
Is it possible for someone to contract skin diseases or other contractible diseases from "sharing" these spa fish? - jalexhall1989, on 02/25/2009, -1/+5Why do all of the captions start with the same sentence? (Minus the date of course)
- MaxPlante, on 02/25/2009, -0/+4You'd want to move to Japan?
Check this out. The only thing surprising here is that bathers are not naked. In an Onsen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onsen), people don't wear anything but a small towel when they walk around. And yes, there are mixed-sex baths.
Alright, I am being a little misleading... In mixed-sex baths, women usually hide with a towel...
Nevertheless, this place seems really neat! - dtfinch, on 02/25/2009, -1/+4OM NOM NOM NOM
http://www.upi.com/News_Photos/Features/Japanese_S ... - Chompy, on 02/25/2009, -1/+4Mr Fish is awesome! I just got back from living in Seoul, and they have these pools you can dip your feet into that are filled with fish that eat the dead skin right off your feet. I know it sounds disgusting, but after living in Korea for awhile your, uh, horizons, on what is gross get expanded.. and it feels so good!
If you want gross, google up "bundaegi". Just the smell will haunt me for the rest of my life. - Canadianinjapan, on 02/25/2009, -1/+3I've been there. These pictures are a bit old. It was fun to go to the different baths. I enjoyed the coffee bath most of all.
You just put your legs into the bath with the fish. They eat the dead skin off your feet.
Dead sea bath was fun but a bit stingy after about 5 minutes. - MillionsLivio, on 02/25/2009, -0/+2What a waste of tea.
- VelvetoneFusion, on 02/25/2009, -0/+2The fish baths just reminded me of this:
http://is.gd/kQEQ
Don't ***** click on that. Seriously. Not safe for anyone, anywhere, ever. - UnarmedHippo, on 02/25/2009, -1/+3Just don't drink the wine!!
- fightingforair, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1It isn't hard to get a private onsen for you and your gf though. We go as much as we can during the winter.
And the towels? Thats really just for tv appearances, the reality is that if you go to a mixed (male) bath, everyone will be naked.
And if your a foreigner, you may not be let in anyway some onsens still have some racial bits to em. (They won't say it though, they'll just say you have to leave and they'll apologize, which comes off much more rude because they will refuse to tell you why.)
Tattoos? Well, most onsens see the person as a walking disease or a part of the Yakuza. So no dice for you. - wily6, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Why do all of the captions start with the same sentence? (Minus the date of course) Yeah I thought that was really annoying too.
- burhaan, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1If its in japan, its not weird
- SpeedStix, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Is it me, or can't you get hammered off of sitting in a pool of booze...
It's funny they let kids in the wine and sake pools... - tehrich, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Mixed-sex bath is generally a synonym for male bath.
- isaiasv, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1what?
- Topkill, on 02/25/2009, -2/+3All of those are mixed with pee. So that's an added health benefit also.
- idavidtang, on 02/25/2009, -1/+2おいしい!
- Zidz, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Woo, I bet inhaling that wine steam will make you pretty cozy..
- Joodtimes, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1People will buy into anything.
- fxu1989, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Besides... you only put your feet in. Image 7.
- wily6, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Holy *****. What the ***** is that *****.
- impedance101, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1wtf? are men not allowed in spas after a certain age?
- VelvetoneFusion, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Umm...rule 34? :-/
- idavidtang, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1Delicious!
- jibbybonk, on 02/27/2009, -0/+1This seems rather strange to me. Not the fact that the Japanese use fish to eat dead skin off your feet (i have heard that this is really rather nice) or that they put strange things like wine, tea or sake into spa's. Usually they put sulphur minerals into it and it smells like rotten eggs. They claim this is very healthy too.... no none of that seems strange
What is strange about these photos is that everyone is wearing clothing of some sort. In Japan when you go to a spa (or onsen) you MUST be completely naked. This isn't a debatable option....you wear clothes and you will be told to change or to leave. That is just a rule for spa's here in Japan. I am sad to say that most (but not all) onsens are not co-ed. They have separate baths for men and women. Don't get your hopes up if you come over here. - themastersb, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1I heard it's not as great as it seems. Apparently lolis there aren't quite what they're made out to be in their entertainment industry.
- jsnchmpn, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1It's big in Japan!
Seriously, don't drink the wine... it seems more like an Ass Soup than a spa. - gamelab, on 03/20/2009, -0/+1Dude... stop drinking where I'm swimming or else I'll pee.
- leeswagerty, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1i know.
it's probably Sencha (which is my least favorite); but still. - sshirdi, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1really funny...
- Tiler, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1Stupid paging!
- r0b1, on 02/25/2009, -1/+1Tubgirl and tentacle porn is ok, but this is considered weird?
- LomasLou, on 02/26/2009, -0/+0They're full of carp.
- RedAbyss, on 02/25/2009, -1/+1Tea AND wine?! That is weird.
- zldsc, on 02/26/2009, -0/+0I've been to this hot spring park in Japan. It's like an amusement park with hot springs, really cool, worth the visit if you go to Japan. Check out their website http://www.yunessun.com/english/yunessun.html
- Tollan, on 02/26/2009, -0/+0I put some green tea bags in my bath when I was sick with the flu. It made me feel a bit better.
- Gr00ver, on 02/25/2009, -2/+1I'd like a spa full of either Jell-O or chocolate pudding.
