- fury420, on 03/22/2009, -0/+26"Ironically, Bruce and Pam Olsen had no usable cannabis at the time of their arrest. The couple was attempting their first crop, when an informant led the WestNET Drug Task Force to search them. They had a total of 12 flowering plants that were three feet tall, and 18 little cuttings that were less than eight inches tall, which is less than recommended by THCF Medical Clinic."
"The only witness the prosecution could come up with is a police informant, Mr. Kenny, allegedly a longtime drug addict that they flew to Washington from Oklahoma for the trial. He claims to have seen Bruce Olson sell marijuana to another person while they were driving home from work. The defense attorney called witnesses who refuted that claim. Their employer said they weren't employed until three months after WestNET raided the Olsons. Mr. Kenny, who claims to have damaged his brain with drugs and alcohol, apparently has a bad memory."
the informant who's lies do not stand up in court is the only evidence they had before their raid, how convenient - rewinn, on 03/22/2009, -0/+16Fortunately the office of prosecutor is an elected office. Let's hope the voters of Kitsap County express their displeasure at having to pay the expense of such a trial, including the flying-in of the prosecution's felon-witness from out-of-state.
- ac14112, on 03/22/2009, -0/+16I cannot express how disgusted I am at the behavior of people like this prosecutor.
- rd1010, on 03/22/2009, -0/+14this is disgraceful
- samsmartjr, on 03/22/2009, -0/+12I didn't read the whole thing. I'm against the prosecutor when I found out that he went after the couple and then law enforcement poisoned their dogs. Poor dogs...
- dancantone, on 03/22/2009, -4/+15Funny that "The People" CAN'T GET WHAT THEY WANT OR NEED!!!

The fact that cannabis is still illegal is testimonial! - dazparkour, on 03/22/2009, -0/+11You think it's healthy for arthritis sufferers to be in constant pain?
You think it's healthy for cancer sufferers to give up hope because they cannot move anymore? - rewinn, on 03/22/2009, -0/+11This comment has been buried for stupidity.
Medical marijuana is safer than a lot of the alternatives. - TrevorBelmont, on 03/22/2009, -0/+10I don't understand what you're trying to communicate by posting this quote.

- UnaClocker, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6Ahhh Kitsap County.. We have a saying here.. "Kidnap County, Come on vacation, leave on probation."
- Deguello, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6"Department of Correction rules don’t "recognize" medical marijuana." - So Department of Corrections is what Washington State is governed by now?
WTF?!?! - MacEnvy, on 03/22/2009, -0/+6All I got out of the quote is that there's a superior court judge that should be forced to resign for bad judgment in Washington State.
- Coinspinner, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5How ***** pointless, poisoning labs ?!?
These tough cops are afraid the dogs would lick them to death or something ? - potshots, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4We're talking about a harmless plant that has not been shown to complicate pregnancy or cause genetic defects... And marijuanna apparently does lower sperm counts... maybe you should support it.
We should also sterilize ignorant people and make the world a smarter place. Hopefully you haven't had kids yet. - Coinspinner, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Heehee, you again? saying the same thing?
You need to try a lot harder to be a real troll, you're barely giving any effort at all. - Coinspinner, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Sad really, the personal pain and destruction is unparalleled.
But it is abuses like this that move the issue to places the authorities would rather it not go. - potshots, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Yeah, those WestNET law breakers should serve twenty for harrassing innocent Med MJ users!

Fake politics. Fake wars. Real deaths. - zanderw00t, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3Also, if you want to help stop this non-sense, please write to the Prosecuting Attorney. Having a national uprising like this should most certainly help change minds....

Phone:(360)337-7174 - maroger, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2Won't be long before this is all behind us. There won't be any more excuses for law enforcement to sleep on the job when such nonsense laws are off the books.
- zanderw00t, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2No kidding. I had expired insurance information in my car bc I hadn't received my new cards yet. It was only about 2 days expired, however the Kitsap County Sheriff wanted me to have someone come drive my car home ON TOP of writing me a 500 dollar ticket after I went online on my phone to show him I had renewed my policy. I now have to take the time out of work to go to a mitigation hearing.
Not to mention almost getting hit on a daily occurance by Kitsap County Sheriff/Port Orchard/Bremerton police because of their dumbasses talking on their cellphones.
Wow, felt good to vent :) - EhBlueDuck, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2"it would be cool if the government made a street drug that would sterilize users"
apparently not - skatoolaki, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2FTA: "As is well known, access to medical marijuana is rarely, if ever, a matter of life and death to patients."
Sometimes, though, it can be. As a case in point, I urge you read the tragic story of Peter McWilliams.
McWilliams was diagnosed with cancer and HIV in early 1996. Towards the end of his life a few years later, the medicines he was on for his HIV made him violently ill - so ill that he was unable to keep the medicines that kept him alive down because he kept vomiting them back up. To cure this nausea, McWilliams smoked marijuana - which at the time was supposedly "legal for medicinal purposes" in the State of California. With smoking, McWilliams was able to keep down the medicine he needed to sustain his life.
However, Peter McWilliams was arrested on drug charges and put on probation - he was regularly and arbitrarily tested for the plant in his system. He was forced to leave alone the one drug he had found that could help him. McWilliams died not long after his sentencing - choking on his own vomit in 2000. To read his story, visit "The Life & Death of Peter McWilliams" at http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v00/n948/a03.html
Hopefully - someday soon - senseless deaths and needless suffering that can be cured by medicinal marijuana will be a distant memory, and that efforts to legalize its use will continue towards complete legalization. - potshots, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2LOL Is that like Pinochio? Maybe they should go plant some money in my back yard :)
- zanderw00t, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Wow, this is NOT what I wanted my town to be known for.
- itsbob, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1And I don't recognize traffic laws...
- marytormey, on 05/13/2009, -0/+1This sounds like another small town, run by the drug cartel!
- NC7U, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1I've met the prosecutor in person.... I'd say more but fear retaliation - I will let my vote take do the talking next time.
- skatoolaki, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Bitter much?
- Coinspinner, on 03/22/2009, -1/+2True, but there sure is a lot more to this story than that.

- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -11/+0Did you read it?.

- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -18/+0K...thye voted for it, and medical marijuana should be legal...but wording that compares allow it to voting for the HEALTH and SAFETY of its residents makes you look silly. Comfort, pian relief..sure. Health? No. It is not making people healthier. Or safer.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -20/+0FTA
"a Superior Court judge ruled that 51-year old Pamela Olson could not use the medical marijuana law as a defense, saying that her doctor should have told her what her 60-day supply is instead of her making the determination herself." - inactive, on 03/22/2009, -21/+0legalize 100% of drugs in one state like North Dakota so all drug addicts can move there
and
maybe it would be cool if the government made a street drug that would sterilize users, so drug addicts could only ruin there own lives and not the lives of there children - GordonClass, on 03/22/2009, -21/+0Let the offenders rot in jail.
