coventrytelegraph.net — at the University of Warwick are helping to design 'R2D2'-type robo nurses which could be in hospitals by 2020. i-WARD is the name of the £2.6 million collaborative EU funded three-year project. Like the incredible amount of pain it's cold uncaring robot claws are causing me?!- taintedzodiac, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1More like, "Sir, I have detected that your ribs are in the way of performing this heart valve operation. Sit tight while I call for Jackhammer Bot to remove them."
- JettaMan, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Ah yes, a government funded EU project. I'm sure it will be a great success.
- nickcozy, on 04/27/2008, -0/+4I don't want a robo nurse,she is not sexy.
- taintedzodiac, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Move to Japan. Problem solved.
We all know this is going to be true. - marx2k, on 04/27/2008, -0/+0They could always hire Svedka vodka marketing gurus to make a fem-bot outer shell
- gozilla09, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Have you ever had a sexy nurse?
- Bobski, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Yes. Well, actually any presentable woman who is fussing over you with care while you blink at them through a Demerol haze looks pretty damn good.
- taintedzodiac, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Move to Japan. Problem solved.
- threemagic, on 04/27/2008, -0/+6I hope Dr. Smith doesn't work at that hospital...I don't wanna wake up in a hospital to:
"CRUSH..KILL..DESTROY" - CDoug03, on 04/27/2008, -1/+3When will people stop being trendy and putting i's in the beginning of the name of all their new inventions and ideas to make them sound hip and exciting?
- marx2k, on 04/27/2008, -0/+3iDont know.

However, I would prefer a DALEK look.- textrant, on 04/27/2008, -2/+0Shame the Engineering building is sinking. Warwick engineers suck.
- Slym, on 04/27/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't that mean the entire science concourse was sinking? since all buildings are connected...
I'm electronic not civil so I can't really comment anyway.

- Krumm, on 04/27/2008, -1/+9They can design and build a robot nurse, but they can't think of a name that doesn't begin with ' i '.
Oh look, I designed a plastic fish, let's call it the iFish.
Oh look, I designed a plastic dog turd, let's call it the iTurd.
Does anyone know when the iName bandwagon will end, because I need to hibernate until then...- ComradeGoby, on 04/27/2008, -1/+3You mean iHibernate.

- betona, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1The consortium's been working together for a little over a year now. According to their FAQ, "no pictures of robots or prototypes of robots have been published."

- gkiltz, on 04/27/2008, -0/+0Get used to it!
In the US, more than half of today's fully trained nurses are over 40!
There will come a point at which the mind is willing, and the skill level is as high as it's ever been, but the body says "This is a job for a younger person!" Given the number of trainees in school now, that's going to be a real problem!
Then going forward, teachers, electricians, and other "Skilled" occupations will see the same thing! - Hangly, on 04/27/2008, -1/+3The robot medic in Star Wars was B1-B, not R2-D2.
I remember that because I had the action figure and he was really boring to play with.- CaptanXax, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Sorry, it was 2-1B. Don't pass go, don't collect $200.
- onionoino, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1don't digg him down he's right, too-one bee
- CaptanXax, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Sorry, it was 2-1B. Don't pass go, don't collect $200.
- Nhmarine, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Wouldn't the robots have to be sterelized each time they handled a patient so the possibility of the nurses spreading disease would be eliminated? Or maybe we can mass produce them like syringes so that after one use we can throw each robot away.
- taintedzodiac, on 04/27/2008, -0/+4I guess that i-RSARCD wasn't hip enough, so they just decided to name it i-WARD and say it was close enough.
- ThePerkins, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1Would you happen to have a "pleasure" model?
- marx2k, on 04/27/2008, -0/+0iRosy.Palma And Her 5 iSisters
- IamZed, on 04/27/2008, -0/+2How do they stop them from eating old people's medicine for fuel?
- anagoge, on 04/27/2008, -1/+1For the love of god, PLEASE stop putting 'i' in front of every new invention.
- pimpnamedjino, on 04/27/2008, -0/+0I wouldn't want that nurse to prep me for surgery. at least not a vasectomy
- briguy1981, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1The iphone and ipod are apples thing, does this mean that the robot is going to be running OS X ?
- jp12380, on 04/27/2008, -0/+4So much for hot female nurses.
Sigh - Disregard, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1The 'C-3PO' model got scrapped after some unfortunate incidents in the male ward.
- vorbalhorde, on 04/27/2008, -0/+5"i-WARD... stands for Intelligent Robot Swarm for Attendance, Recognition, Cleaning and Delivery."
Um, no it doesn't. - Asianwaste, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1This is a bad idea. You'll get too many diagnosis such as, "She died of a bad heart!"
Not only are they bad robots, they are bad doctors! - MrFurious2k, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1This is ruining my nurse fantasies.
