True vaccines used to have Thiomersal a mercury containing compound to prevent staph infections, but it did not break down to mercury it broke down to ethyl mercury. Now just if you don't think a ethyl group makes much of a difference hydroxide is a powerful base that can destroy all of your flesh, ethyl alcohol is a safe disinfectant and rather fun to drink. The difference between them is a ethyl group.
Oh and don't let anti vaccine people scare you with take of 50000 ppb mercury ( should be ethyl mercury) either. This is because while that seems much higher then the 250 ppb of mercury that is safe for humans that's the concentration in vial. The vaccine is only .5 ml and the volume of water in a 6lb baby is 1.6 L (1600 ml) the concentration per vaccine added to the baby is 16 bbp.
As for ties to autism there is no statistical correlation between the simple as that. The first group who thought had something that showed a correlation recanted it later.
Now for the safety of the H1N1 everyone knew it was safe going in because it was made the same way every other flu seasonal vaccine is made. Due to lack of funding, the vaccine developments at several universities has stalled and probably won't go anywhere. Kind of strange that there isn't an interest in funding a vaccine to such a widespread virus.
