- Cannon49, on 10/24/2008, -0/+72He should really put that cornea on the organ donor list again.
- AtraNoxVII, on 10/24/2008, -3/+68I wonder he sees in black and white or in sepia.
- Elderon, on 10/24/2008, -0/+43That's pretty amazing. Makes you wonder though. If the cornea was able to last that long without degenerating so badly it was dead or worthless, than maybe we can provoke the cells to just regrow themselves. Kind of like stem cells research stuff I guess.
Just seems cool to have a part of your body that's almost twice your age and still functioning. - Knowltey, on 10/24/2008, -2/+21He can really say that he's seen a lot of history and not really be lying.
- evildemonic, on 10/24/2008, -0/+15...or he meant human organ. :-P
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -1/+15"...I've...seen things...you people wouldn't believe."
- flooz, on 10/24/2008, -0/+13But does is allow one to see ghosts and pieces of the future?
- luet, on 10/24/2008, -2/+12um... the liver heals far faster than any of those
- dgolding, on 10/24/2008, -0/+9Ok, the guy trying to sell me corneas has been saying stuff like "barely used", "fresh", and "low milage". Are you trying to tell me that I should not, in fact, be paying a premium for fresh corneas, that older, tried-and-true eyeballs would be just as good, at a fraction of the price?!
- bmdt2000, on 10/24/2008, -0/+8@luet
But that's just not as funny - kozie, on 10/24/2008, -0/+8He didn't say "the only three parts..."
- serif69, on 10/24/2008, -1/+9These eyes have seen more than my age would indicate.
- cgp1024, on 10/24/2008, -1/+8it's probably just a problem with your cornputer...
- gbv23, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7"If only you could see what I've seen with YOUR eyes"
-Roy Batty - roctimo, on 10/24/2008, -2/+7I did what you see there
- RyeBrye, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5Well... He can really say "These eyes have seen a lot of history" and he'd be correct. To say that HE has seen the history is incorrect, but would be something most people would assume from that sentence.
- djdevnull, on 10/24/2008, -3/+8I think they should transplant it again.

original thought. - shadowspawn, on 10/24/2008, -3/+8three parts of the body that heal rapidly: The eye, the lips, the penis.
If I'm going to wear any of those out beyond repair, I'd rather it be the former than the latter. - sugablonde, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4they should make it a family heirloom...then we'll see how long it lasts
- Grok22, on 10/24/2008, -1/+5I see said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw.
- rrife, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4I see where you're going with this thread.
- dantakli, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4NORGE!
- evildemonic, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4The cells in the cornea are not fully alive like other parts of the body. To be so clear, after growing to their mature size they commit suicide by chopping up their innards and expelling them outside the cell wall, leaving the inside mostly inert fluid. This makes them unable to reproduce or rejuvenate.
- chiefs10, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4my transplanted corneas are 42 and 51. so i just need to live with the same eyes until im 97. Let the games begin Mr. Aune.
- vilago, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3haha get an ass trans from j-lo
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2Should I be the 5th person to post that it should be used again and again. Nah, we don't need to sound like a broken record up here.
- vilago, on 10/24/2008, -2/+4"i see"
-blind man - Lith25, on 10/24/2008, -2/+4^^ I don't see what you did there :(
- jedicor, on 10/24/2008, -1/+3psssh, this has nothing to do with that. Nobody's claiming the guy is 123.
RTFA. - diggtochina, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2It saw the future
- 2of8, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Interesting story. This one part somewhat disappoints: "The Eiffel Tower was built from 1887 to 1889. U.S. inventor Thomas Edison patented a film camera for motion pictures in 1888." Thanks for the mini-history lesson I guess, but if it's to provide context for the time period I certainly hope people know something else about the late 19th century.

- chiefs10, on 10/24/2008, -0/+124 actually. i was shooting for 124 years which would surpass the record. but i don't think this guy is gonna die for a few more years so i'm really putting a lot of eggs into the 'modern medicine keeping me alive for a long time' basket

- Kerrigore, on 10/24/2008, -1/+2Eye don't.
- Amadeus2490, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Maybe you need a cornea transplant?
-_- - mllawso, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Actually, he could say "This cornea has seen a lot of history.", but that would be silly.
- funkytaco, on 10/24/2008, -2/+2Eye'm gonna ruin this thread because it's stupid.

- cawpin, on 10/24/2008, -4/+3FTA - "“I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the oldest living organ in the world,” eye doctor Hasan Hasanain at Namsos hospital told the Norwegian daily Verdens Gang."
Apparently the doc hasn't heard of tortoises living for 150+ years. - sladek, on 10/24/2008, -3/+1It doesn't matter how old your corneas are if we don't know how old you are.
- beauley, on 10/24/2008, -3/+1We are told by the Vision Council of America That: The U.S., as of 2006 used vision correction such as eyeglasses or contact lenses, representing over 75 % of the country’s total adult population. That is a lot of lenses that can get dirty and smudged with oils from the eye causing vision impairment. Finally, there is a scratch free solution.
