- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -6/+244One quality I love in any person, their hatred for Scientology.
- OutpostNetwork, on 01/05/2009, -3/+220"The tragic death of John Travolta's teenage son Jett could spell the end of Scientology..."
Unfortunately that is highly unlikely... - inactive, on 01/05/2009, -10/+157As great as this is, the photoshopped Jett Travolta/Dianetics cover seems like a bit much.
I'll talk ***** about John Travolta all day long for being such a ***** *****, but don't bring the kid into it. It wasn't Jett Travolta's fault that his family was made up of crazies. It's even worse that he died over it. - eTronicGaming, on 01/05/2009, -7/+154***** SCIENTOLOGY
- asgardshill, on 01/05/2009, -1/+115If Scientology didn't self-destruct after the horrible (and well-publicized) death of Lisa MacPherson, then it certainly won't over Jett Travolta. The cult simply has too many lawyers, guns and money.
- CaptainShaun, on 01/05/2009, -15/+105There'll be one thing stopping us - Tom Cruise. For the good of humanity, we _must_ send a champion to fight Tom Cruise to the death. They will absorb his powers and use them for good, not evil.
I suggest either Ron Paul or Barack Obama. What have you, Digg? - aspec, on 01/05/2009, -6/+94You already have a champion: Anonymous.
- StrawberryFrog, on 01/05/2009, -1/+71Scientology is mocked for its crazy ideology. It is hated because it operates in secrecy, takes people's money, wrecks people's lives and persecutes dissenters by any means - legal or not - which it is able to use.
- newerakb, on 01/05/2009, -2/+58are there any non-scientologists without an unabashed hatred for Scientology?
- Cannonballkid, on 01/05/2009, -0/+49Sorry for the Travolta family and their loss, I really doubt that Scientology will all of a sudden meet it's demise because of this (though I certainly wouldn't mind it).
- jh4rms, on 01/05/2009, -1/+44You'd really love me then.

- PeanutCheeseBar, on 01/05/2009, -1/+37The people who don't know that it exists, maybe?
- mikbunn, on 01/05/2009, -1/+34Yeah, well two of my friends died from your use of caps lock.
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -3/+36Their lawyers.
- captainbethany, on 01/05/2009, -2/+34Yeah, right. Hundreds, maybe thousands have died because of Scientologists' anti-drug stance, not to mention the countless others enduring a poor quality of life because of following it. I really doubt that poor Jett's death will make an impact on this scum.
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -3/+35Definitely. ***** Scientology, and ***** John Travolta/Kelly Preston. The kid was only sixteen years old - it's not like he had control over his own healthcare or could understand how insane his parents are. There's no reason to be so callous to an innocent kid.
Way to be douches, Gawker. - mrseptic, on 01/05/2009, -1/+33Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis. - Jack Handey
- IphtashuFitz, on 01/05/2009, -0/+29And for those who aren't familiar with the reference:
http://www.lisamcpherson.org - PhoenixAvatar2, on 01/05/2009, -1/+29Your right to believe whatever you want stops when you start hurting people because of it.
- CATSCEO2, on 01/05/2009, -0/+27Xenu isn't their deity, he's their Satan.
- CATSCEO2, on 01/05/2009, -7/+34@bkmrkr
Its a cult, not a religion. Big difference. - sockfire, on 01/05/2009, -11/+35This is probably inaccurate. If you read the articles about the death, you'll learn that the family disregarded those rules of Scientology when it came to caring for their kids.
I offer condolences to the family in their time of grief. - newerakb, on 01/05/2009, -4/+26@bkmrkr
Oh, I respect their right to believe whatever they want. But that doesn't mean I can't also hate them and think that they are idiots. - Trickybunny, on 01/05/2009, -2/+24***** Scientology.
- Nosferotu, on 01/05/2009, -2/+22What really disturbs me is the percentage of like... wealthy movie-star types that are Scientologists, as compared to the percentage of the general population that are. One wonders if they become Scientologists after getting there, or if being Scientologist is what gets them there? (And I don't mean there is something to the religion - I mean does the crazy church have some sort of sway in the business to get their people into positions of cultural influence?)
Any other topic, I'd feel crazy for suggesting that, but Scientology has planted people in the IRS in the past to get themselves tax breaks. I have never really seen any evidence of boundaries as to what they'll do to try to get their way. - TheFinaleofSeem, on 01/05/2009, -0/+20Bruce Campbell. Definitely Bruce Campbell.
- groo68, on 01/05/2009, -0/+20Even Frodo was swayed by the power of the ring shaun.
- ProfessorLX, on 01/05/2009, -1/+21i love misterex's mom anyways, she make the good pancake.
- britblogger, on 01/05/2009, -5/+23Jett was reportedly taking anti-seizure drugs, so what the ***** is this article talking about?
the kid tragically died, and as much as I hate what Scientology stands for like the next man, this is a cheap crack at a nonexistant comparison.
The COS should be dismantled, period, but not because of this. - Renian, on 01/05/2009, -0/+17"They will absorb his powers and use them for good, not evil."
Are you sure? Dark quickenings have been known to turn people from good to evil. - JlmAWP, on 01/05/2009, -0/+17Exactly. Why take one man when you can have a Legion?
- MisterEX, on 01/05/2009, -0/+17And my mom.
- CATSCEO2, on 01/05/2009, -0/+16They've been going at this for almost a year now and and haven't been sued.
- gowjo18, on 01/05/2009, -2/+18there may be some tall steeples out there, but they were funded through donations, not money required to become a part of the religion. As much as I dislike organized religion, scientology is much much worse than any organized religion.
- IphtashuFitz, on 01/05/2009, -1/+17I seriously doubt that this one event will "spell the end of Scientology". Religions (or cults or whatever you want to classify Scientology as) have survived much worse than this. Granted, it may not garner the power that it once had, at least in the short term, but I'm sure it'll be around to stay for a long time to come.
- newerakb, on 01/05/2009, -2/+17To me, all religions basically have crazy ideology. What sets Scientology apart, and into the 'hated' category, is their use of money as a way to move through ranks.
- CaptainShaun, on 01/05/2009, -0/+15Then we must put together a fellowship that will keep itself in check.
- PrintScrn12, on 01/05/2009, -2/+17Scientology isn't hated for it's ideology. That's just an entertaining side show that gains attention because it is kept secret and lied about unless you spend many years and plenty of money.
- CaptainShaun, on 01/05/2009, -0/+14That's why we must choose our champion with the greatest of care.
- Goochman, on 01/05/2009, -2/+16Coincidence there is mention of Travolta's son take medication to control his seizures and Tom Cruise having an interview published that he says Scientology cured his dyslexia through their proven methodology.............
Time to pull back the covers on the Scientology domain. - AzureRise, on 01/05/2009, -1/+15And me.
- phrstbrn, on 01/05/2009, -1/+15Scientologists are known to target celebrities. They give them huge "benefits" that other members don't have access to, and hand them high ranking positions in the cult.
They then use their celebrity status to persuade others to join. "If Tom Cruise is a Scientologist, they must be legit!" Celebrities also have the most money to "donate", so it's a good source of funding. - andrewlotta, on 01/05/2009, -14/+27If you are against $cientology, digg this comment up.
If you are for $cientology, bury this comment. - jsp123, on 01/05/2009, -5/+18I always thought that religions, by definition, are also cults...
- Skuzzlbut, on 01/05/2009, -3/+15I give it 2 days before Gawker gets sued by the Scientologists....Any takers?
- kinseyincanada, on 01/05/2009, -15/+27first off there is absolutely no proof that Scientology killed this kid. Second even in the article its self its says that Jett was taking medicine for seizures. "Whatever the cause of his seizures, a Travolta family lawyer now says Jett had been taking Depakote, an anti-seizure medication, but had to stop it because of liver damage" How about we wait for the truth before jumping to conclusions and spelling the end to a religion or cult or whatever you want to call it.
- anxdiety, on 01/05/2009, -0/+11Its a shame a youngster had to die but as ***** up as this sounds at least with their anti medical treatment stance they are going to kill more of their own than the majority of religions.
