- antdude, on 10/11/2007, -5/+85That explains why I never had a woman because of my mulitple disabilities. :(
- adcat, on 10/11/2007, -2/+71Only 24 people were used in this study... needs a bigger sample, so buried.
- Tenric, on 10/11/2007, -6/+72Holy crap Antdude, that's the most depressing comment I've ever seen.
Anyway, for me a girl can have a nice body, but if she doesn't have a good face then forget it. - guest2117, on 10/11/2007, -4/+59I have a bad body and a bad face. Porn is my only hope.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+49"I never ***** a 10, but one night I ***** five 2's. And that ought to count."
- George Carlin - undersky, on 10/11/2007, -5/+41not even faces, girls generally care more about a guy's character/personality than his appearance.
a wise word for the young 15~22 male diggers: don't fret over relationship AT ALL, TRUST ME, your values appreciate exponentially with your age and career, while girls' value depreciate with their ages. Wait a few years you can easily get a hot and young girl that you wouldn't dream of when you were in college. And also, pretty girls usually don't end up with good looking jocks. Pretty girls usually end up with the man who possesses the most valuable character of husband:
dependability, loyalty, family value, consistency, success, emotionally stability.
mark my words, they might be the most useful thing you hear on Digg today.
"girls are like purchasing cars while guys are like investing in real estate."
i have dated far too many girls than i would like to. - moojj, on 10/11/2007, -4/+35Damn, I have no hope then!
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -7/+37Explains why I have a girlfriend even though I'm not exactly, um, "statuesque."
- DutchGuilder, on 10/11/2007, -8/+38> For women rating men, 52 per cent of the attractiveness score was made up by the "face".
They misspelled "wallet". - inspecality, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29"Butterface"
- commyostrich, on 10/11/2007, -0/+26thank you linkedlist! I was thinking... what? 12 males and 12 females?? That is just very very statistically insignificant. That is a terrible study. Why are they publishing results. sheesh.
Study shows 1 out of 1 person found a girl hot. In conclusion, girls are hot.
ugh. - nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -6/+30i just thought I'd let you know that comment made no sense.
- pr1me4, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2624 people? doesn't seem like a very big data set.
- derning, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25Stop commenting while drunk.
- VillaStraylight, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19This is true. I actually think the whole Hulk Smash! look on guys is a bit creepy. As long as you're not morbidly obese you're okay in my book. (Yes, I am a girl. I hope the hot pink icon would be a hint.)
- TLAKABM, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18No, it makes sense. It's just very esoteric.
Toledo is a company that make scales for scientific/analytical purposes i.e. heavy duty scales.
'If you're making a scale that says "Toledo" on it nervous when you're nearby' (anthropomorphism and hyperbole) means 'if you're really fat'.
If you're really fat, a great face isn't going to save you. - TheGuruStud, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21yes...?
ROFL - idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18sultantravi scares me
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -4/+20Usually breasts are the first thing a man sees. And the first thing a woman doesn't want to see.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+22Pretty faces? Well sometimes. But the common thread for me is usually a nice rack.
- HotDiggidy, on 10/11/2007, -10/+23It's because we are all getting so fat that we just want to focus on the positives and say I choose that person because they have a nice face.
- spookyttws, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I'm not sure about everyone else, but a good body or good face is a huge plus, but understanding what I mean when I say "I saw a story on Digg the other day..." is a huge bonus.
- brocej, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9BOBFOC: Body off Baywatch, face off Crimewatch
- Scruffydan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10it's not... but its the first step in testing a hypothesis. I assume that they are already working on getting more data from a larger sample size.
Generally thats how these these things work. They start very small (its cheap and quick) and if that shows some promise they scale up the sample size (expensive and time consuming) - CelebVoy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13*****
- Redemption289, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I'd agree. The first thing I "notice" about a girl is her face.
- Arbus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Just in case I never meet any of those 12 women, I'd better try to not eat too many sticks of butter.
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -5/+13A whole 12 men and a whole 12 women...such a huge sample size.
+ they aren't showing the pictures of people, for all you know they are either butterballs or skinny sticks, which would explain why women would deviate more when it came to face - TheHim, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I think both stature and face affect this, but speaking for me personally the face is the decider.
A woman can have the most amazing body, if the face doesn't attract me, she doesn't trigger my interest.
This is also the reason why i find most porn to be terribly bad and unappealing. The zero-brain looks on those women with their mouths wide open kills any serious interest in me, i would probably be better off with women's magazines of tasteful models applying the latest body lotion.
I also noticed how virtually the same body doesn't get my blood rushing nearly as much if the woman is blond rather than brunette, which i seem to be drawn too much stronger.
These are personal observations of me but maybe they apply to others as well. - Rhino2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8
I like the skinny guys with a bit of muscle - you know, not big, but you can see all their muscles though their skin.
Mmmm. - Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Interesting how this works both ways for heterosexuals singles (men and women), caring about face over body. It's even more interesting when you look at what same-sex singles want...
Gay men want a good face and a good body along with a great job and an extra large... um... heart.
Lesbians don't seem to care about each others' looks or body, as long as they both agree on politics and agendas.
Plus this study doesn't seem to account for all the BBW on Craigslist... - Rikka, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7edit: sorry, i thought you said: maybe we can porn together?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Reminds me of an old adage I once used: It's not the face you f***, it's the f*** you face.
- ksponge, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@froggy57 (#6672071)
You're wrong. If you are good looking enough, money doesn't mean anything. Sugar mama anyone? I say yes my friend. You just aren't good looking enough. And that's why you deny it. - Pixelante, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5"Lesbians don't seem to care about each others' looks or body, as long as they both agree on politics and agendas."
You obviously don't hang around enough with lesbians. Some don't care, some do. A lot. - Memnochxx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Sample size not large enough to make conclusions.
- Stochio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Lame. 24 people used. Difference was *one person* to "make" the headline. Stupid.
- vare2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Bah, but that's only first impression. Making the girl know your existence does not translate to getting the girl. Women nowadays are wise enough to stir away from goodlooking scumbags.
- ElektraAssassin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Interesting to note the ratio of men to women commenting. Are girl geeks still frowned upon? Or do we just hide in the shadows out of some twisted sense that being a woman and a nerd is like being Clark Kent and Superman?
*long suffering sigh*
Oh well. Popcorn anyone? ;) - f201, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Twelve women and 12 men took part in a trial to assess the attractiveness of people in photographs"
Statistically significant sample size, check. Oh, wait. - alamandrax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3one word, "increadible cleavage"
sorry! sorry, TWO words, "incredibly fantastic cleavage"
THREE words " incredible fantastic cleavage and a fine ass"
....I'll come in again. - JoeBob5606, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3its time to start working out jaw muscles...
or better yet, get muscle tattoos on face. - resta6, on 01/12/2009, -3/+6you can't really do anything about your face(surgery doesn't count), but you can do a lot to improve your body.
And when 2 people stand next to each other who look similiar, 9 out of 10, the person will go for the guy/chick with a good body.
Figure it this way: Total = 10 points
5 comes from face, 5 comes from body. You really don't have much control over the first 5, but the latter you can help yourself immensely. And even a 2, can end up being 6-7 by just working out a few days a week - NinjaBoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Sweet so i just need to get a haircut and shave instead of work out. Works for me!
- TLAKABM, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I like pretty anything. Feet, hands, ears, nose...
- cadams, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I dugg you up. Not for the cleavage comment. But purely for the subtle Monthy Python reference and for making it one that nobody expects. My hat off to you Sir.
- stevenvh, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6If you really do have a girlfriend, go away! You don't belong here!
- stevenvh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Contrary to the common belief that a guy first looks at a gal's *****, I look at the eyes first. Then the *****.
In case anyone finds this sexist: when I asked them several girls told me they first look at a guy's face, then his crotch. -
