My son has or has had multiple nipple, tongue, facial and ear piercings. We've had no problems other than irritation from the nickel in cheap jewelry. When I changed to real gold the problem went away.

That only happens with some piercings if you take them out and allow them to heal. As for infection there's nothing to worry about if you keep things clean -- just as with any other wound. A papercut is as prone to getting an infection as a new piercing is.

I personally have and have had several over the past few years and plan on several more. I've never gotten an infection because I'm not a moron and I know to keep the jewelry clean.

On top of that I have 8 tattoos so obviously this has less to do with the ability to get a good job as your actual qualifications do.

Also, the fact that the american public in general feels that it is OK to discriminate against individuals based on their tattoos/piercings. Somehow after all the civil rights issues and everything that this country has been through regarding discrimination, america just cant drop the habit.
