They stress me. - javy925, on 05/24/2009, -1/+12i fap all my stress away
- bromac, on 05/24/2009, -0/+10After a couple car accidents, I was left with chronic back pain from the whiplash, among other injuries.
Aside from the pain itself, the strangest effect to get used to was the flight-or-fight response that was on overdrive all the time. It felt like I was always about to be attacked, always had to do something to respond...to a non-existant threat. Revved up, restless, however you want to put it. People described me as on edge or tense all the time. And it was all just my body reacting to the stress of the injuries - instinct says if you're feeling pain, you're being attacked, even if the danger has long past. Stress from other sources, emotional, environmental, etc., can also trigger this mechanism.
After a while that constant adreniline rush subsided, but it was still an odd period of time for me. - tgc1, on 05/24/2009, -0/+8Every man you know, and by extension every man you've ever shook hands with has given his junk a tug. Get over it. Just keep your hands washed.
- shortypeople, on 05/24/2009, -0/+6Ths stress reaction is why chronic pain, intractable pain, eventually kills ya. It's why it wears people down.
- javy925, on 05/24/2009, -0/+6I typically use my left hand so, unless you're left handed, there shouldn't be a problem :)
- shanidachine, on 05/24/2009, -0/+6I found this interesting.. dugg
- inactive, on 05/24/2009, -0/+5Um hello, stress can severely disrupt neurotransmitters in the brain, including seratonin levels- the chemical necessary to maintain mental stability- he is not kooky, you are just misinformed.
- DangerCollie, on 05/24/2009, -1/+6This is anecdotal, but one thing I've noticed is that even normal people under enough stress will begin to exhibit symptoms very similar to bipolar disorder. Sleeplessness, occasional racing thoughts, grandiosity, inability to focus, even psychosis.
Always wondered if there was some link between the two. Maybe people with bipolar just never drop out of that stressed out mental state. - Phattio, on 05/24/2009, -0/+3thx for putting words to a similar life experience i've had.
dugg. - inactive, on 05/24/2009, -0/+2Once you get past that constant fight or flight drive, as one person above described feeling like you are constantly on edge, a panic attack at any minute- you sort of just become numb, and it takes more and more to illicit any sort of response. Just speaking from experience, chronic stress as a result of chronic illness, does the wacky to the cns.
- AutomaticTLC, on 05/24/2009, -1/+3Wish it was more elaborate.
- ViscidGobs, on 05/25/2009, -0/+1Its called PTSD. It can happen from any kind of traumatic occurrence.
- algaeturd, on 05/24/2009, -4/+5This isn't even a story. It's an entry with a list. What's next for Digg? Middle-aged housewives submitting recipes or something?
- SuicideMouse, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1I needed a smoke at about the halfway point.
- mrshickadance9, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1I puked cause of stress once. That sucked.
- soulonfire928, on 05/25/2009, -0/+1I think that's basically what I was going through. I started exhibiting what would be considered mild mania (I wasn't out doing ***** that would land me in jail) while I was taking pre-med classes and holding down a full time job. Definitely a stressful period. Plus my company was going through an acquisition and I was getting phone calls from HQ on my cell until 10-11 at night for reports that were needed ASAP...I found I was mentally checking out quite a bit too-like things that should have been relatively simple left me a bit confused, etc. Now that I'm on summer break, all of that has basically disappeared.
I think they were all responses to being stressed out. While anecdotal, based on my experiences, I'd say it's plausible. - Argantes, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1Gotta keep switching up.
- tgc1, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1That used to work for me. It hasn't for a long time.

I like this article - mparker21311, on 05/24/2009, -2/+2Stress almost always leads to gaining weight, more alcohol consumption, then eventually to depression.
- b0tterman, on 05/24/2009, -1/+1I was one of those guys in the pictures of 911 covered with dust with the buildings fell. In short, I experienced a rush of what I'm guessing are hormones that made me feel undescribably strange. it was physically painful. It took quite some time to get over that.
- Zackinabox, on 05/24/2009, -2/+2One word . WEED
- vsujohn2, on 05/24/2009, -1/+1It was more so because I do the same. If he has anywhere near the stress that i have the resultant combination of semen and sweaty hands could create a deadly sperm-toxin that would rival even the most deadliest of viruses.
- vsujohn2, on 05/24/2009, -3/+2Remind me never to shake your hand
- Nintendesert, on 05/24/2009, -2/+1Alcohol and Vicodin makes all the stress go away.
- algaeturd, on 05/24/2009, -3/+1"People with bipolar?"
Are you joking?
You're talking about manic depression and it's a chemical imbalance, not a mood disorder or a reaction to stress. You're trying to shoot down 40 years worth of research and treatment with a casual opinion and a shrug.
People like you scare me. It's about one step away from suggesting those who suffer from manic depression simply need to remove themselves from stress to get some kind of relief.
Kooky. - s4g4n, on 05/24/2009, -5/+1This is the most stressful article ever!
- MarkyNouj, on 05/24/2009, -7/+2why the hell was this submitted to digg? furthermore, why are people actually digging it?
