- dreamer38457, on 04/10/2008, -1/+31So yeah, it's four pages which is something I normally *hate*. But this time? It's definitely worth it to read all four of them this once, seriously.
- Ragingcnu, on 04/10/2008, -0/+20“It’s about personal accountability and taking responsibility,” he says. “We are not victims. We’re not being blown around like dust in the wind. We have control over our destiny.”
Epic. - yokel, on 04/10/2008, -0/+16Awe inspiring story!
- soupdawg30, on 04/10/2008, -1/+17Stem Cells FTW
- commenter01, on 04/10/2008, -0/+15this is for all of the times that i've thought my life was in the gutter and there was no climbing out... thanks Eric Drew for putting it into perspective.
- CyberSol, on 04/10/2008, -0/+12Trust me, you are missing out on an amazing story.
FTA "His skin began peeling off like strips of bacon. His body was on fire. His temperature hit 106.8 at one point, and he had to be packed in ice. Blood was coming out of his eyes and ears. Inside his body, his intestinal lining was falling apart. He had severe diarrhea filled with blood."
That alone is enough to make me roll over. - CyberSol, on 04/10/2008, -0/+12well next time you see him, shake his hand for me and say thanks for hanging on, you bring hope to all of us.
- BeforeCalvin, on 04/10/2008, -0/+12This man.
This man right here.
This man is the reason why the word "awesome" exists. - UNDERSTAR, on 04/10/2008, -0/+10This story needs to be turn into a movie.
- slightlygifted, on 04/10/2008, -0/+9i dont get how anyone can be against stem cell research these days. i mean as long as the person is getting an abortion you might as well just use the stem cells to save people like this guy. and if your against abortion then hey, there are only so many people in this world who are willing to adopt every baby from every teenage girl who got pregnant and didn't want to miss college and become an outcast to raise a kid she doesn't want.
- wheresjim, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10Weird, a digg story about somebody I've met a few times and had conversations with. I see him in town from time to time, very nice guy.
- AntiClimacus, on 04/10/2008, -0/+8This is one of the greatest stories to grace the pages of Digg in an incredibly long time. It is gripping, moving, and displays the incredible resilience of our species. Stories like this ought to save this place from becoming so saturated in memes that it ceases to maintain its original utility.
- corourke, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7That's amazing. Thank god for his Fiance surfing the internet and finding the alternative. Strangely I'm reminded of that scene in Dodgeball with Lance Armstrong.
- skeptic42, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7My new hero.
And what's up with the site looking all weird? - joshinatorg, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6That is amazing.
- cheungroys, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6This totally beats Superman... Hello Eric Drew, my new hero.
Epic Story! This should go on Diggnation. - Gemfinder, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6Go ahead and read it. There are novels that aren't this gripping.
- Dinkymod, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5One of the most amazing stories I've ever read.
- SmartedPanda, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5I got a new ***** hero.
- oogyy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5oh wow..crazy story.
- Gemfinder, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4Dugg, Favorited, Shouting to my whole list. Incredible, powerful story.

- SmartedPanda, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3....Yeah, that confused me. I'm not very good at biology but does testosterone grow in the blood? Or only in the testicles?
- DeathJux, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4Sorry to "comment jack", but here's a link for the full story all on one page, minus the ads:

An awesome tale, for sure. - PathDaemon, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Give him congratulations... from all of us.
- Gemfinder, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3That goes double.
- CyberSol, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3This really was a triumph, all though the success may or may not have been huge, it sure wasn't an epic failure.
- kendrew, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3All I can say is that guy is amazing, hitting rock bottom, and literally about to die, with people around him saying its okay to die. Then coming back and fighting his way to live. Just amazing.
- itachi01, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3***** good read, great man
- Tenlow, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2There is this thing some people do, it's called "reading". it's kind of new. You might want to watch a video about it sometime.
- thebaron2, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Truly awesome. One of the few stories I read on here that brought a tear to my eye. The last line was breathtaking:
“It’s about personal accountability and taking responsibility,” he says. “We are not victims. We’re not being blown around like dust in the wind. We have control over our destiny.” - allisonaxe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2this guy is an inspiration... also? I nominate him for "most badass ***** ever" award.
- MetalLizard, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Real life makes better stories than Hollywood ever could. Amazing ***** story. Truly amazing.
- DeathJux, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Wow, who knew that blood could be female??? Crazy.
That story almost moved me to tears. There goes my digg-thug cred... - SwiftKick34, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2This really puts everything into perspective. Everyone bitches and moans about life at some point, but I don't think I would have the strength to overcome half of what this man did.
- Varadinumdotcom, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Go to Hollywood with this story
- mattb5, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I think every activist holding a sign outside an abortion clinic should be legally required to adopt a child before they can protest.
- markcoollittle, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1eric drew is my hero
- bperin, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I lived in Los Gatos, and went to the same highschool, but I've never heard of this guy or this story. Crazy
- mattb5, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I think you commented on the wrong story.
- DeathfireD, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1The way this story was told I got the feeling this guy did just about everything as a job.
- 360news, on 04/10/2008, -0/+136 is too young to die - Im glad he overcame all these obstacles
- MissNicoleF, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I love this story, and I never get tired of hearing it. I cry everytime! Of course, the story hits close to home, because I lived it with Eric. Thank you for all the comments showing support for Eric and his miraculous story. He is a true hero, and YES he does need to make this story into a book or a movie, I agree!
- TheKoopaBros, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1What an amazing story. Not many stories draw you in to the point where you feel its wrong to not finish the article.
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1GATTACA
- govabre, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1too long.
- dragtre, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1This is amazing. I like the irony here; the guy who tried to steal all of his money ended up saving his life.
