If you worry that you might have it you can check by seeing if you can touch your chest with your chin. If you can't, you should see a doctor asap (that's how I knew).
- dleesgeetar, on 06/04/2008, -0/+12makes me want to get up from my computer right now and take advantage of the day, thanks for the inspiration
- inactive, on 06/04/2008, -0/+10My son had meningitis when he was born and it was his strong will as a premature baby to fight and live, after 'crashing' many times and spent weeks in intensive care. He is fine now, no brain damage and no side effects. Thanks for the story as it's an inspiration.
- lizlemoncello, on 06/05/2008, -0/+8God, so many diggers are going to touch their chin to the chest as soon as they read this (I know I did).
- GiggleStick, on 06/05/2008, -0/+5Does this mean Jay Leno is immune to meningitis?
- orph3us, on 06/05/2008, -0/+5kinda puts things into perspective.... make your life mean something, stop procrastinating

- KoZo, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4My girlfriend had one, really don't know what causes it. Took about few weeks before she was discharged from the hospital. Good thing her mom is a doctor so they immediately went to the hospital.
- smacksaw, on 06/05/2008, -1/+5Didn't Tony Stark have an issue with his heart, not meningitis?
- gruk, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4Does it matter which chin touches my chest cuz i've got three of them.
- maliath, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4This guy seems to think he might've had Neisseria meningitidis. However, such an infection is rare in someone in his age category. Three bacteria cause meningitis in neonates: E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes (stay away from cold cuts and soft cheese if you're preggers), and Streptococcus agalactiae. Between about 3 months and until the baby develops it's own immune system, the most likely causes are Neisseria meningitidis and H. influenzae. In adults I think it's usually Streptococcus pneumoniae. That fact that he had such a horrible case of toxic shock makes me think it could've been staphylococcus aureus as it has TSST-1.

- Zaxcomp, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1I concur here, it sounds like he just made up some terrible version of a disease he was never even diagnosed with. Sounds like a hypochondriac.
- doughboy334, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1holy *****!
- jster89, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1if you have a fever, extreme headache, extreme nausea then you may have meningitis. This is better than the touching your chin to your chest method (althought neck pain is also a symptom.) Also anyone with a non-blanching pin-prick like rash should immediately go to the doctor as this could indicate DIC from the sepsis.
- socialrebel, on 06/05/2008, -2/+2What makes this man so great for having it? I had spinal meningitis when I was 2 years old, it made me nearly die and it also turned me deaf.
I continued to build a normal life despite my deafness and now I'm a highly talented and well known web developer. Where's my news feature??? lol - vbimkl, on 07/28/2008, -0/+0He is fine now, no brain damage and no side effects.

- CopernicusCenji, on 06/05/2008, -4/+1Buried for trying to capitalize on the release of the Iron Man movie. Not that I care so much about the movie, but headlines like this are misleading to the poor sheeple of the world.
- inactive, on 06/04/2008, -8/+3I licked your sisters ear, and she still has syphilis
