- MattLat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Yeah, duh... Have you ever seen anyone program WITHOUT caffeine in their system? It's not a very pretty sight.
My question is where Water Joe would appear in the lineup. - daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Nice find. I've always wanted to know this stuff since I always drink caffeine for my graveyard shifts.
And the grand winner is....Starbucks Grande Coffee! Coming in at 500mg of caffeine for 16oz, it has more than three times the amount of an equally sized can of Rockstar. - prosperolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4this is in science -> health, look again.
- steger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wow surge was on the list. Man that was a great drink.
- jragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Did you guys see Death by Caffeine last year? It's on the same site:
http://www.energyfiend.com/death-by-caffeine/ - halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Given the tight bond between computer geeks such as myself and caffeine, yes, this most certainly IS technology news.
- Mooinakan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3anyone duggmirror this?
- briankoenig03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Both generic espresso and SkyRocket Caffeinated syrup (although I can see not counting that one) have a higher mg/oz ratio than Starbucks Grande coffee.
- briankoenig03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now I see you were talking about total mg of caffeine, so I guess since the Grande coffee is larger than the Tall coffee, then it would "beat" the Tall coffee. However he doesn't list Venti size, which would beat both if just going by mg and ignoring serving size.
- oneiroi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always wondered why this isn't listed on the nutritional labels?
I mean people are concerned with caffeine intake, that's why decaff exists. If it is harmful in large amounts, shouldn't people be able to determine how much they are taking? - SPARTACVS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man I need to stop drinking Monster and Jolt.
- BuRz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This database is not good for Canada. We have a Law that regulate the amount of caffeine in the cola. But not for energy drink , the law is not adapt to this new trend.
I know the mountain dew doesn't taste the same in US - Ner0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The minimum lethal dose of caffeine ever reported is 3,200 mg, administered intravenously." - Wikipedia
Just thought that would be interesting to note. - BuRz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only us in Canada can understand that type of measurement. after 25 years we have not completely shift to metric.
I didn't even see the problem before you talk about it . lol
In the social Canadian jargon for :
speed = km/h
weight = lbs
height = feet/inch
liquid = liter/ml - infinium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would love to see some AJAX so i can start rearranging this by highest to lowest in either mg/oz or whole drinks/etc.
- tdogg241, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I miss that *****. +digg for Surge!
- indoloony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Caffeine is a habit forming chemical but it does not do irreperable harm. That's why it is not illegal.
I, however, do not have caffeine from personal choice but don't want to remove the right of a person who wants/needs caffeine intake. Soft drinks are keeping up with the demand. Or creating demand. But, that's marketing. - steve693, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want to know what Starbucks is doing to their coffee so that it has so much more caffiene than the stuff I make at home. . .
- ChrisshEnzo, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1scary. its sad that red bull which is the most advertised is not even top ten for these drinks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I always wondered why it is lawful to add caffeine at all. Granted, it is an inherent part of coffee and teas but what about soft drinks? Should we really allow a soft drink manufacturer to add a known habit-forming substance to their products for the sole purpose of creating addiction?
I stopped drinking caffeine habitually many years ago and have never looked back. - mojotooth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What's the problem. Drugs (which is exactly what caffeine is) are almost always measured in milligrams in the US. Commercial fluids are almost always measured in ounces in the US. So if you're writing a table that is intended to be meaningful to Americans, milligrams per fluid ounce is a completely natural unit.
You want it in grains per ounce? Maybe tons per ounce? - CarolFil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No Tim Horton's?
- Vineman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ive always found Erowid to be the best source for caffeine content.
http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/caffeine/caffeine_info1.shtml - celticsilverado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try Vault if you liked surge. It contains most of the same ingredients and was actually brought into existence by savesurge.org (http://www.savesurge.org/).
- DjJason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty good info, caught a glimpse of this article early but tried to go back now and its down.
Does duggmirro work with digg V3? - Rotkiv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1awesome
- CaseyThr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they don't have Amp on here...I drink 2 of the big ones nearly everyday...maybe THAT'S why it's 12:30 and I'm still on digg...
- ph30nix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It made me laugh
- TDot1980, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yah... I found that a little hard to swallow.... More caffeine than these psycho energy drinks?
- vermicin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you click on the column headers, they sort for me. Javascript sorting.
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A few mistakes in the list- Bawls has 80mg of caffeine, No-Doz regular has 250mg not 100... but since I'm not fact checking the entire list, I assume it's a good resource.
- astatine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1But why have that when you can have a couple of mugs of tea?
- drchadwick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh, Canada.
- astatine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Milligrammes per ounce? What sort of half-assed unit of measurement is that?
Either do it sensibly in metric, or be friendly to the recalcitrant yanks and keep it in old-money. Not both. Please! - goodknight, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1no irn bru...? :(
- prosperolt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I love this resource, my only complaint is that it's not really interactive since we can't sort the list other than alphabetically. (i don't mean to be picky but it would be neat to see the rankings without having to do it manually)
- D4V1S, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1there is entirely too much caffiene in my bawls, my bawls are swelling with this massive amount of caffiene! someone call 911!!!!!
*boom*
on a more serious note, how will duggmirror decide which pages to mirror now? seeing that there is no front page... - Bradl3y, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@joehobbes aka diggnazi
Thats interesting, i could almost swear that Technology is only one of the categories over there at the left. Maybe you should go and comment on every story posted in those *other* categories and let them know that their stories arent "tech industry news*. - joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I would figure that it was more appropriate in "Health" than anything else.
Besides... I was a professional programmer for a number of years and I never got much into the caffeine thing. And my code was fine. - joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1...
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1This is Tech Industry News?

What is Digg?
