- opethlike, on 07/23/2008, -0/+9Its a good start, but not really flat out exercise. Nothing beats running your ass off every other day.
- mroboy, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6You sir, have not seen the size of my ass.
- mentat0, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3I've never had a problem using FF3 on Lifehacker, Kotaku, io9, or any of the other blogs that use the same template.
- bluechips23, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3I am still waiting for the technology to come out that will enable me to lose weight by just staring at the computer screen for few minutes.
- Auzy, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Actually, I found that the Nike+ sports kits, are cheap, but crap. Get a Garmin Forerunner instead.
Why nike+ sports kit sucks?
=====
1) I did the same run over 2 days (a 5km jog), and over 2 days, they came out 700meters different.
2) Not only aren't the ipods waterproof, but they have a water sensor in the headphone jack, so when your ipod gets destroyed in the rain, or you put your wet headphones back in there, you lose warranty. If I feel like a jog, I WILL jog when its raining.
3) Nike's shoes fail.
4) No heartbeat monitor, and no cadence sensor for bikeriding.
Why garmin forerunner?
=================
- GPS based. So its actually accurate
- Waterproof. iPods are anti-water.
- Heart Beat monitor and cadence sensor compatible
- Don't need an iPod.
I don't think the guy who wrote the article is much of an athlete. Even I'm not considered to be, and I found the Nike+'s limitations annoying. The nike+ sports kits are only good for 10 year olds. - edud, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I am waiting for the day when they invent something that makes a plate of broccoli taste like a juicy burger; a piece of fruit like a slice of pie; a rice cake like a slice of pizza...
- durex, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I tried it out last year, and while I didnt see it through to the end, I can attest its much better than trying to hop out there and start running a mile or two right off the bat.
You occasionally feel like its too easy (at least in the beginning), but it helps build a great base for the longer distances.
Highly recommended. - asskey, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Actually that is how you lose weight. If you try doing that once you've lost all the weight, it could turn out badly ;)
- durex, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I read Lifehacker daily (along with Kotoku and Gizmodo- all Gawker sites) and Ive never had to crack open IE to view any of them. Not to mention theyre a huge FF advocate, so I doubt most others have an issue either.
- zolthar, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1the potential commentators are still in the hospital
- zolthar, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I wonder if the push-ups and the running programs can be combined? Since both rely on working out every other day, you can just workout for each program in every odd and even days.
Or is it too much pressure? - DeepSkyDiver, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Buried because Lifehacker should make their damned site work in FF..
- opethlike, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Has anyone done the Couch to 5k thing?
- Tyrghast, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Fitness is merely common sense. Expend more calories than you take in.
- FighterX, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Anaerobic training is better than aerobic training. Rather than do long distance jogs, one should do occasional bursts of sprints. Sledgehammer is good, but the money could be put to better use. With the same $20 bucks, I can go to home depot and buy 150lbs worth of sand. I would do squats, dead lifts, and chest presses with the sandbag. Never pay for the gym again. Bodyweight push-ups? boo, try dive bombers instead.
Dive bomber push-ups:

- Jektal, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Yes, you can combine them. Exercise works like that.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I found a site that has free workout videos that should be on the list. MyTrainer.com has a lot of videos for changing it up at the gym or at home with resistance bands or stability balls or for training for sports. It is an impressive site.
- Biosfear01, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Bench press, dead lift, squats
eat healthy
www.stronglifts.com is a great starting point
'Nuff said - inactive, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1He left out the single best tool to help you design a diet and workout program aimed specifically at you: redpointfitness.com (and no I not the one who created the site, just a satisfied customer)
- zilch2k, on 04/30/2009, -0/+0Zolthar: push-ups and the running programs can be combined. But you have to listen carefully to your body, you need restitution as well.
I however, recommend core fitness exercises, there are four good ones here:
http://www.fitnessforsports.net/core-fitness-exerc ... - f4rh4n, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0Depends on our metabolism, there are several way to increase it. Then we will get in shape. Make sure we get a healthy life.
- darkankh, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I got up to week 5 but got injured in a non-running incident so couldn't finish the whole plan (yet!). But in those few weeks I did see a great improvement.... I would strongly recommend it if you plan on taking on running
- glenhol, on 07/23/2008, -2/+0I just got into swimming. It's a great exercise that is really easy on your body. Everyone should try it.
