Scientist discover that water is wet. - Easty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No need, Smithers! We'll take the Spruce Moose!
****** gun* Get in the plane. - ascolti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Of course its loaded with microbes. What do you think killed the Martians around the turn of the 20th century!
.... What? What do you mean it was just a story. Yeah.... right. :-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Next, they'll be reporting that there's dust in people's rugs.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Duh? It's loaded with dust (which is mostly dead skin) too.
- chosenone-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hehe, this should get people running :)
If we lived in a totally sterile world, which is what it appears they're trying to do, our immune system would be more fragile than a house of cards. Long live filth! - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Water is full of microbes as well, you'll have to build a house "underfire". Even then you would have to kill off all the microbes from the air that you get inside the flame engulfed house, as well as the microbes inside you. I suspect the latter could wind up being fatal. Although, so would surrounding your house in fire in most cases.
- MikeyTwit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Buried for the idiotic title, What's next? "Water Is Full Of Hydrogen & Oxygen!!"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks to the PhyloChip, we can all know if a bacteriological attack is occouring. But at the time you'll figure it out, I guess you might be already dead.
- HappyPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, but what you guys are missing is that this PhyloChip determines the diversity of the microbes in the air. We can't grow 99.9%+ of the bacteria in the environment on agar on Petri dishes, so doing a real census like this one just published would have been very very very tough and very inaccurate before the PhyloChip. The PhyloChip removes the need to grow the bacteria - you just stick the ribosomal RNA isolated from the bacteria in the air to its complement on the chip instead. So come on - before bitching, READ what's going on here and LOOK at the methods used. It might give you a better understanding of modern science.
- alefox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2uh, no crap
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Breaking news: YOU are loaded with microbes!!
- codemonkey2841, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Quick! Someone call the CDC!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Facts - facts ! -- they are as plentiful as ticks on a camel but we ignore them since they are such nasty business to deal with. There is emerging evidence that all the germo-phobes spraying sanitizing balm in kitchens and baths of the "civilized" world are helping create super-bugs. This, along with barnyard antibiotic OD's so hogs, steers, turkeys, sheep, and other slaughter animals can be raised in hellish conditions without keeling over, is having more influence on the food chain. Better stock up on Imodium (tm) and plenty of butt wipe 'cause it is not going to get any easier on the _bottom_ line.
- riverrunner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and there are CHEMICALS in food and ATOMIC PARTICLES in everything they make!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apparently no one read the article...: "...will allow scientists to create a baseline against which future researchers can measure changes in bacterial populations due to factors such as climate change."
The headline is misleading. - sogracefully, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1americans certainly did too, but most of us forgot because of the big-mac-induced dumbassedness.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3It must be one hell of a news day, I just heard that lava is hot!
- andrewonfire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You basically brush your teeth with ass water, assuming your tooth brush is within about 6 feet of your toilet.
Tasty. - sonder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0RIC ROMERO on the scene!
- sonder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0RICK ROMERO ON THE SCENE!
- Sajuk101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1no ***** Sherlock!
- remydlc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Well, since this been posted watch lot of people buying Raid and similiar products spraying all over the place and getting panic not knowing this been around for 1000 years... Want to be safe ??? get a house underwater, maybe.
- DamnMan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1And don't forget that earth shattering paper published recently that concluded the sky is indeed blue.
edit: to much time on fark forgot the reply link... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1come on, i learned that in school in my "inferior" euro country.
