- stopbrorape, on 07/26/2008, -1/+53I'll blow your mind for some crack.
- the2989, on 07/25/2008, -4/+56Funny how the article tries to make us scared of the statistics.
- kahakauai, on 07/25/2008, -4/+53If you want to suprise me, show me the statistics of people that HAVEN'T tried any drugs...
- LibrarianEtarip, on 07/25/2008, -4/+44Are these statistics really surprising to anyone?
- infernix, on 07/26/2008, -2/+41So if these are drugs statistics, where's alcohol?
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+37Love the pun in the headline! Prescriptions don't surprise me being on the list!
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -8/+42Cocaine is a helluva drug
- arjung, on 07/26/2008, -2/+31i, for one, am scared that something can be illegal even though 40% of our population participates in it.
what happen to: of the people, by the people, for the people? - kds405, on 07/26/2008, -2/+28I can't believe the amount of people on meth. I normally hate those overdramatic drug commericials with ruined lives and dead babies and all that. Meth, however, from what I've seen, is the real deal.
- treas, on 07/26/2008, -4/+27IRONIC, I'M ON DRUGS RIGHT NOW AND MY MIND IS BLOWING.
- Antz0rz, on 07/26/2008, -0/+22who needs them. its like 98% of the population.
- techlyc, on 07/26/2008, -0/+21Having been involved in the Los Angeles electronic music scene (the outdoor kind), having attended community college, and having worked in a busy pharmacy as a tech, and a working nice white collar job - I can definitely say EVERYONE has their fix!!
Be it watching UFC, doing a line, dropping 'cid, taking Valium because "the doctor said it would help", getting piss-drunk, chain-smoking, or just plain adrenaline from racing your car (cops!) or bungee jumping - EVERYONE has their fix.
What's yours? - Peko, on 07/26/2008, -1/+21I'm also curious about the number of pirate attacks.
- kakwakas, on 07/26/2008, -0/+19Only 39.8% of us smoke the green? Wow. That IS mind blowing.
- Eicos, on 07/26/2008, -1/+19There are all kinds of errors here. First, the site provides no legend to the statistics. What do these numbers mean? Is it the number of people who admitted to trying that drug at all during that year? Or at a certain frequency? Or are the statistics extrapolated from a sample? Without more information, the statistics mean nothing. And even if we ignore that, the increasing yearly totals are very misleading, since, as you can see, the earlier years don't have data for half of the drugs! I think this is a very disappointing attempt at what could have been a good article.
- twiztidsinz, on 07/26/2008, -0/+17What do pirates smoke?
Coral Reefer! - jaybol, on 07/25/2008, -3/+19just do some math if you want those stats

You know that innocent girl that listens to classical music during study hall alone? She got blazed last night
You know that Student Government representative that doesn't do anything but study? Well study and smoke pot now .. - cadillacboogie, on 07/26/2008, -1/+15Nixon declared a "war on drugs" in 1971. Looks like it's time for a new strategy

- FelixDrylock, on 07/26/2008, -0/+10did you kindly request that said bro cease tasering you at once?
- badwithcomputer, on 07/26/2008, -4/+14Only 97,825,000 are smoking weed in 2006? That is mindblowing...Maybe the people who are really high just aren't stopping to answer questions about the last time they smoked weed.
- ReneRuizJ, on 07/26/2008, -1/+10According to this site here's a rough increase of about .44 percent of our population having tried marijuana per year. This means that if this is accurate then within 25 years half the US population will have tried it. (Note: I think the increase is not linear but since the data gathered isn't very constant it's hard to tell.)
"At this point, 40% of the US population has tried marijuana. The drug has seen its largest rise in use (by percentage) since 1979 in the last 5 years. Cannabis is considered a "less illegal" drug, with steps towards legalization being taken in various states. One specific example of this is Colorado's attempt to decriminalize the possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The amendment failed by a margin of 60-40, similar to the Alaska's attempt in 2004."
It looks like the % of people voting in favor of legalizing marijuana is proportional to the % of people who have tried it. That could mean that in 25 years we could start seeing states legalizing the possession of it- Now the federal gov will be another thing. Also, unfortunately, the right people will have to be in office at these given states for the bills to not be circumvented or vetoed.
The way I see it I'll probably quit smoking when I start raising my kids (10 years from now?) and not start smoking again until they are old enough to understand that like alcohol, marijuana is to be used with responsibility and control. Seems like right around that time is when the chances it will be legalized will actually be in its favor. - Peko, on 07/26/2008, -1/+10Midget clown porn.
- andy69fox, on 07/26/2008, -0/+9I told a cop that once, then I got tazered.
- badenglishihave, on 07/26/2008, -0/+8You know what doesn't surprise me? That some people can't do that math.
- MillurTime, on 07/26/2008, -1/+9If I remember my fractions, that statistic says most kids didn't do drugs.
- MLisa, on 07/26/2008, -2/+9I'm not sure about this data. For example the article says Heroin and Cocaine became illegal in 1970. We know they were illegal way before that. Then they sneak in a sentence that indicates the survey is not who is doing the drugs now, but of people who have done these drugs at any time. Of course the numbers have to go up in all categories. Once you are in the survey you can't opt out.
Just looked up cocaine. Feds outlawed it in 1914. - biglio, on 07/26/2008, -6/+13I am assuming its because you can't read or you are a drug addict.
- andrewbr500, on 07/26/2008, -2/+9It actually seems a bit low to me.
- lisaawesome, on 07/26/2008, -1/+8I've always wondered what it would be like to never even try drugs. I wonder if I would believe the ridiculous anti-drug commercials on tv.

- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+7Heh, you said headline.
- addicted68098, on 07/26/2008, -0/+6It's 45% of the population that has tried illegal drugs...45% OF THE POPULATION IS NOT CURRENTLY ABUSING ILLEGAL DRUGS. The people who answered yes in the 70's would still answer yes today even if they aren't currently abusing any illegal drugs.
- dhughes, on 07/26/2008, -1/+7 "Looking at these drugs based on their number of users..."
Does every drug user fill out a yearly survey? - Spudster, on 07/26/2008, -2/+8Gotta love snobbish anti drug people who bask in their self imagined superiority.
- inigomntoya, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Don't you remember when they would survey you about this kind of stuff in High School?
Tobacco: Never Tried
Alcohol: Never Tried
Marijuana: Tried Once (but I didn't inhale)
Cocaine: Use Frequently
Heroin: Use Regularly - But I'm not addicted. I can quit anytime I want, OK!?
At least that is how mine would end up looking... - inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+6 ALL I DO IS EAT BEANS
