- mrMunchies, on 10/26/2009, -0/+13It seems like the best precautions to take are the same ones that you should take all of the time to guard against catching the normal flu.
- borez, on 10/26/2009, -1/+9It's a ***** ***** scam that's the biggest fact... it's just flu for crying out loud.
The major differences between normal flu and swine flu are that GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca are about to bank £1.5bn from the vaccine we all don't need. - axalon, on 10/26/2009, -0/+6If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the regular seasonal flu kill much more people than what swine is?
- borez, on 10/26/2009, -0/+6I do know people who've (seemingly ) had swine flu, but I'm sure all flu at the moment is being diagnosed as swine flu.
FTR: I was ill about a month ago and coughed up some blood. I rang the UK NHS help line and spent about 1/2 hour trying to get past the swine flu options before giving up. For something that has caused so few deaths this virus is truly becoming a joke. - Hetman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5I was diagnosed with swine flu. It was pretty much just like the regular flu. It was a ***** couple of days but nothing worst than the regular flu. I had higher temperature than usuall but it was not that bad. Anyways when I talked to my DR about it, she basically said the reason they are worried about H1N1 is because it has shifted left. Instead of targeting people 65+ it is targeting kids between 5-15. She still pointed out that the mortality rate of H1N1 only appears to be about the same as the regular flu. However that is hard to determine because you cannot really tell who had the regular flu or H1N1 because most people do no report it. They just treat it like the regular flu and usually never even go to the DR.
- StigNordas, on 10/26/2009, -1/+4This one's especially nasty for kids, so in that respect it's worth taking extra precaution. For us grown-ups, it's just another crappy flu.
- shutaro, on 10/26/2009, -1/+4The major difference between normal flu and swine flu is that normal flu actually exists... The swine flu is a hoax cooked up to sell vaccines (much like Vitamin D).
- snipe123, on 10/26/2009, -1/+2I agree that some marketing has been done to sell vaccines, but that is not the reason why the H1n1 is considered dangerous, it's a new type of flu and it means were are more likely to catch it. We can live thought that flu easily but what people fear is an evolution on the new disease who could be way more deadly
