- SteelChicken, on 10/11/2007, -10/+134Women want equal treatment as men, unless its in their benefit of course.
And wanted to add, if a woman wants to step up and punch me in the face, feel free, but dont cry when you get knocked the ***** out. - yargthepirate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+123I know a guy who got arrested after his girlfriend tried to attack him with an axe. He knocked her out and spent the next three days in jail because nobody believed that she was the aggressor. Even though she was holding an axe.
Women's rights movement FTW. - MaynardJK, on 10/11/2007, -2/+123I know a guy that gets tossed in the can pretty regularly when his bat-***** insane girlfriend beats the ***** out of him. Every time the cops get called to his house, they always arrest him even though he doesn't touch her. I'm sure that this isn't always the case, but I would wager that it is the rule rather than the exception.
So something that has repercussions for men but not women is done more often by the women? I'm just shocked, SHOCKED! - CletusJones, on 10/11/2007, -9/+87It's because they know most men won't hit them back. I think we need to start; your woman hits you, level her *****, and when she comes to, make her cook dinner.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+78i had a friend whose girlfriend beat him on a regular basis. he showed up to his own brother's wedding with scratches on his face and a huge stab wound in his back. he laughed it off, sometimes hit back, then blew his brains out a couple years back.
- secretwhistle, on 10/11/2007, -2/+70Well, this is no surprise. I love my wife but sometimes she tends to go more that a little psycho and when that hajieqwi o'iiii '' owwwwwww!!!!! *****!!!! my hands!!!!
- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+56Because women are equal to men in every way except responsibility (where they are comfortable being on the same level as children).
- aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -0/+52I believe in equality. They bite you, bite them back.
- Niddik, on 10/11/2007, -5/+56Pch, yeah right! If women are more likely to be violent than men, then how come I don't hear about it on TV? Huh? HUH?!
- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -2/+52I would have preferred a Fresh Prince ending... now you've gone and made me sad.
- BobSutan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+45The next time you see a scene like that described in the article, stand up and shout "domestic abuse is no laughing matter" and simply walk out of the theater. It'll kill the mood and ruin that part of the movie giving it the context it deserves.
- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -3/+45And you go to jail for a year. Oh, and don't forget the part where she gets the car, the house, the boat - even the kids. And you get to pay childcare every month.
- thegreeneyedkri, on 10/11/2007, -1/+42Actually most abuse groups state that it seems there are lower occurrences of women beating their husbands/boyfriends because most men don't report it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+42It's a double standard. And it sucks.
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/11/2007, -2/+43I wouldn't go so far to say we encourage it, but we certainly don't discourage it.
Women's groups are at fault for creating the myth that only men are aggressors and we men are at fault for tolerating it.
Regardless, sometimes a person just needs the crap smacked out of them. I disagree with the philosophy that "violence is never the answer". There's the rare occasion where it's not just the the best answer, but the only one. I'd rather take a bullet to the nuts than hit my wife though. - MaynardJK, on 10/11/2007, -4/+44"And I'm sorry, but lots of men hit. Don't try to pretend they don't and men are innocent entirely"
Yes, 0.5 of them for every woman that does, as mentioned right in the title. - gmprunner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41Why are women never guilty of sexual and/or domestic violence crimes?
- darkstar949, on 10/11/2007, -1/+40No, more often than not when people hear "domestic violence" or "domestic disturbance" they will automatically assume that the male is responsible for the altercation. The sad fact is that men generally don't have much when it comes to a "he said, she said" debate - unless there is a strong preponderance of evidence to the contrary the male will generally be assumed to be the responsible party.
- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32Because they'll get arrested!
- BufordT, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31If a woman is beating you, be a man about it, turn your back to her, walk out the door and never come back.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+30Some of us are raised not to hit women. Unfortunately some women don't deserve that courtesy.
- celerate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28That happened to me in school once: a girl made comments about my weight and in turn I called her a pig, she turned around and gave me a bloody lip and I hit her back to keep her off me. Everyone gave me ***** for that. It wasn't that I had hit someone, it was that I had hit a "girl". That's not equality at all, gender shouldn't take precedence over size and strength when you decide what's a fair fight, and for that matter I wasn't the one that started it. Equal rights should also mean equal consequences. Fwiw I've also knows a lot of very nice women, I don't judge them all as a whole because of this one individual; however, I do know from this incidence that we cannot give women immunity from the consequences of their actions just because of their gender because that only serves to give them immunity to be bullies. Women with a bad personality and enough strength to back it up can be just as abusive as the worst of men, and there should be no expectation that we men tolerate it just because of their gender.
- redpixie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30And I'll beat the crap out of anyone who says otherwise :D
- tekrat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Why do they do it? Because they can get away with it.
- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Or else it's rape!
- aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27You've forgotten the bedroom, where they demand complete control.
- darkstar949, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25I hate to say it - but nobody should be hitting anyone in the first place - regardless of gender.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24The heterosexual, white male has earned its endangered species status thanks to years of appeasing radical special interest groups.
- radarx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+24Obligatory Cartman Line: "I would never let a woman kick my ass. If she tries anything, I’d be like, “Hey! You get your bitch ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie!”
- xGeneric, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21I have a lot of tolerance for woman. If one is screaming at me, I won't hit her. If one slaps me, I won't hit her. If one punches, kicks, or bites me, I'll knock her down(wouldn't beat her up or even use a closed fist, but you better believe I'd use some kind of physical force). There needs to be a line. Just because the female body is generally weaker than a male's, that still doesn't give them the right to use physical violence. Any woman who thinks a woman should never be physically harmed by a man, no matter what the woman does, is just a dumb bitch who doesn't care for human equality, hates men because they are men, and wants superiority for their own sex. In a fair world, you can't have your cake and eat it too. You need to follow the same moral rules as everyone else, and the same kind of consequences when you get out of line.
"chivalry is dead... and woman killed it" - Dave Chappelle
Oh, and for you feminists who think I'm full of it... I've had this conversation with quite a few woman, including my mom and various girlfriends... and they all tend to agree that if someone uses physical force against you, you need to respond in kind. Although, like some have stated, this law in this situation isn't exactly geared towards equality. - GreyICE, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21I know! Lets use the argument that our ancestors way back when were ***** to justify today's actions! Crimes of the father being visited on all the generations since then, and all that. Obviously this is a sane course of logic - inequalities in the past that have been righted justify unrighted inequalities today. Hey, similar logic has killed Jews for centuries, and obviously THAT was a great idea, right?
Or it could be you're an idiot and a bigot. - GreyICE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20What happened to your mother is horrible. The thing is, you can't just say "Men are guilty, women are innocent" because your mother was innocent and your father was guilty.
- aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19If you grab their wrists and they bruise, get ready for an assault charge.
- Nougat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18There's a difference between statistics and anecdotal evidence. I'm sorry for your experience, and it is anecdotal.
- darkstar949, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18There is actually a strong double standard in this - case and point - if a girl smacks a guy in public (justified or not) most people will assume the guy is a jerk and got what he deserved, if a guy smacks a girl in public then odds are someone is going to report him to the cops.
- puto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18When I first started dating my wife, she used to hit me when she was mad. So I used to hit her back every time just as hard as she hit me. That made her stop.
- darkstar949, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17The problem runs both ways though - women are just as guilty of smacking around men, if not more so when you take into account out casually a woman can slap a man in public without anyone saying that what she did is inappropriate.
- joebob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I have had at least two gf's who have injured themselves while attempting to hit me. In both cases I was blamed by anyone and everyone before even saying a word.
How's that for equality of the sexes? - TheSexyGeek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18All I can say is that if a woman comes at me with a weapon, it's ass kicking time.
- drobati, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Yea, if not provoked what right does a women (who is an "equal" by law) have to attack a man from anger. Additionally, what right does she have to not be counter-attacked? If a women wants to be an equal then in all aspects they must be an equal. Its so appalling how people behave now a days, and despite my belief in the above I won't hit a women. Its just that I don't care if they get hit in retaliation for their unjustified actions.
- celerate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Forget that, if I had a GF who was abusing me I'd kick her out of the house. I've seen it happen in reverse far too many times no matter who's paying the mortgage.
- EntangledPhysx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Than the guy goes to jail for assault...
- Kenzan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Sorry but any woman who hits me, it means there's no respect.
No respect = Get the ***** out. - GreyICE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Yes, because it is totally easy to restrain someone who is intent on injuring you. Try it some time.
P.S. Why don't all those wives restrain their husbands who are beating them? Oh yeah, double standard. - darkstar949, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Both men and woman have a history of abusing their spouses - all of those jokes about women hitting their husband with a frying pan or rolling pin have been around for a long time. The problem is that a double standard does exist and the actually prominence of domestic violence is actually a lot rarer than most people actually think of it is because you hear about it more often now.
- Kenzan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14You get hit, even once, man or woman, you leave.
Period. No one should have to stand for that. - helinism, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16I think the whole amateur dramatics style of slapping a bloke or pouring a drink over someone and so on is not a little feeble. And always seems kind of cheesy to me... Self-defence is a whole other matter of course!
- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I'm sorry about what happened to your mother. Now you should fight to end this kind of abuse caused by both sexes, not just men. To help one side only is not helping at all.
- Theli, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14"...but hell, you guys did it to your goddamn selves."
I am no more responsible for what some man did back in the seventies than you are, so I have not done anything to myself. - ajt167, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12"The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb, old but true"
False, this is an urban myth. Look it up if you don't believe me. Google the phrase and the first many hits will be site debunking it.
"you guys did it to your goddamn selves" yes, kitty, you're saying that it is our fault for what some of our ancestors did. My dad never laid a hand on my mother, my grandfathers never laid hands on their wives, and i sure as hell have never laid a hand on a woman (in violence). I'm not saying that you are necessarily wrong in asserting that other men's violence against women is the reason for our current situation, but you sure as hell cannot say "you guys did it to your goddamn selves". I didn't do a damn thing and neither did the vast majority of men i know.
and yes, the women's rights movement, with all the good it has done, has also screwed up a thing or two - namely, making many women feel they are the victim by default in pretty much any situation.
now shut up and take your clothes off, you stupid slut, or i'll knock the rot off your teeth -
