That term has been over-used and now stupid teen girls actually believe they have to become a size zero, even though models are NOT a size zero and if they were they would not find work!
Model size in Britain is size 8! EIGHT!!!! The standard model size in the US is size 4 (for those who don't know the US and UK have different sizing systems so a size 8 UK is equal to a size 4 US). - nambio, on 10/28/2009, -42/+194Dammit I'm sick of these self-reassuring surveys. The results are always twisted to mean something to conform with whatever is the hot topic, which in this case is making women "feel good about themselves". They are completely missing the point. Size zero chicks aren't always hot, and the gross ones are always used as examples, but I know (and have dated) attractive size zero women who are naturally petite.
So this survey is trying to use faces as an indicator of beauty, then attempting to tie it into the body type of the chicks, as a way of proving that fat chicks are beautiful. Of course, we all know there are plenty of fat chicks who have beautiful faces, you just have to go on a dating site, click on the cute smiling face, then find ourself clicking the back-button when you see the full-body shots.
The other survey I've seen which is meant to reassure women that its ok to be fat is the one where they showed men different body shapes, and the result of that survey is that men prefer women who are size 12-14. Actually, what the results really mean is that men _do_ like a curvy figure, just not one covered in 4 inches of fat, stretch marks, and cellulite. Its common sense really.
Proof that men prefer slim petite women:
- the most popular porn stars are not fat
- the most popular actresses are not fat
- playboy models are not fat
- women in music videos are not fat
- women in advertisements are not fat
This isn't just "the media" creating an "unrealistic" expectation, its what people FIND ATTRACTIVE. Healthy, active people who stay fit, eat right, are attractive because they show strong indicators of HEALTH, which makes them a more appealing breeding partner.
Being fat is NOT ATTRACTIVE, I don't care about your ***** surveys. Live in gluttony if you want but don't complain just because you can't attract the type of man/woman that you are after. - Tarkaan, on 10/28/2009, -2/+10236-24-36? Only if she's 5'3".

While there ARE celebrities that are size zero, the VAST MAJORITY of them are not. To keep touting that ALL celebrities and models are size zero, as most articles do, is misleading and disingenuous. Yes, this article did not explicit state that all celebrities are size zero, but the connotation in which it was used was enough to anger me and make me rant as you see in my previous comment.
As you see, I wrote all the sizes in UK sizes since this is a BBC article. That makes it even worse that they use the term "size zero" because a woman who is UK size zero (if such an article of clothing ever even existed) would be pretty much non-existent.

Now the "ideal" is just a sick distortion with a life of its own. Guys can talk all they want about how skinny is a turn off, but clearly, we have no idea what we're talking about when it comes to what looks good, so we should just shut up and go repair something.

I'm athletic and healthy but have always been very petite so I happen to wear a very small size. I'm nowhere near malnourished or sickly but people assume I must starve myself simply because I wear a size 0. I think it's great that body acceptance is being promoted but this movement seems to also push the idea that anyone who is slender or thin must be sick. Slender is also a very natural body type.

Also they didn't factor in body type. A short size 6 looks way worse than a tall size 6. I have asian fever, and a size 0 girl doesn't look like an anorexic crack whore when she's 5'.

That size zero model may be pleasing to the eye but would you choose her as a mate if a woman with a body that has bigger breasts, thicker thighs and legs, bum, and an actual waistline was a choice alongside her?
The thin models look good in a picture and good on tv and so does a fancy car but if you put it down to sexual attraction the arrow will point to a woman with curves in the right places.
Fat is not attractive i agree with you on that but i can't stand women shorter than me with legs like chicken bones, no waist, and no bum, maybe i am among the minority and if i am, what is the appeal of a tiny woman to so many men? -
